Good joke 🤣 No one in their right mind would even put Laos in the top 100 countries as a favorite. Right mind as oppose to a delusional one. But to each his or her own as the saying goes. Some people must really like monotony degradation lawlessness corruption unflattering natural environments and sceneries and above all extreme poverty.

Laos is only safe with respect to foreign white tourists. Key word being white. Ask any non-white tourists who has visited Laos to see their loved ones or to reconnect with their homeland and they will tell you otherwise. The local authorities is utterly garbage and is corrupted as any impoverished nation arguably worst.

Love it! I am coming to Laos in about next Tuesday! Just in time and thank you so much! I haven’t really plan anything but will be having 10 days in and out from VTE. What would your recommendation? I was thinking for sure VV and LP, but not sure if I should squeeze in others (don’t mind going further north or south). Do you have a quick recommendation ? Thanks. And would be glad to hangout together if you guys are still there!
@TravelsonToast11 ай бұрын
10 days might not be enough time to go much further around Laos, but maybe consider Meuang Feuang if you want another place to go. It's between Vientiane and VV. They have floating bungalows on the river with mountain views and the monks do the alms giving ceremony by boat along the river which is quite a unique experience. Plus not many tourists go there, it's mainly locals. We've already left now but have a good time!

I am living in southern China now, but I'm planning a trip to Lao in October. Which visa do you recommend, the e visa or visa on arrival? The Lao embassy is not terribly far from me.
@TravelsonToast6 ай бұрын
They recently relaxed some visa requirements from some countries, so maybe check that. As we understand the evisa grants you 60 days and Vis on arrival is 30 days, but this can be extended at the visa office very easily. Both are good choices, we just usually do on arrival so our plans are flexible

Yes, they have SIM card. You need it for internet service. They have taxi service at airport if you don't want to drive. They have rental car if you're brave to drive in a foreign country. Your hotel can pick you up in their car. You need to ask. Don't be shy.

What is the longest amount of time per year you can spend in Laos on a tourist visa? I know you said you can renew it after 30 days, but is there is a set limit to how many calendar days per year they will permit you to renew it? Could someone expect to stay for 3-6 months, if they wished to?

Lao food is very vegetarian and vegan friendly even off the beaten path. A vegan or vegetarian can survive off of sticky rice, fresh fruit and veggies! Let’s not forget about the eggplant dip that can be made 100% vegan, all the different types of mushrooms! If you think about it Laos is a Mecca for vegetarian and vegan!

People are always shocked that the poorest places have some of the happiest people. It’s because those are the only ones that will remain. If they were miserable they’d end it all. Rich countries offer miserable people enough comfort to continue. This is why the phrase “you will own nothing and be happy” isn’t far fetched.
