Amateur iPhone camera user here. Have only shot a few videos on my treks and mostly just do it for fun. You've given some excellent tips and I'm hoping you'll address some tips for us using our phones. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!

Hi Maureen. What version iphone do you carry. I purchased a 15 awhile back and I'm still learning how to use it. I use the Black Magic app to give it functionality I can understand. Sound is always critical, so using a lavalier microphone set up with a wind diffuser would be a good start. I might have an extra pair I could send to you.

@@akwild1 I have a 12 Pro....thinking I will be upgrading within the next year. Downloaded the app, but definitely need to study it as it's like a foreign language to me! Only if you have an extra microphone you know you won't ever be using. Thanks for the offer. We can chat offline if needed. Thanks again!

Thank you. One day I'll stay focused on topics, but today is not that day. I do have an episode planned on the gear I carry on a long-distance trip.

wow, those are a bit overwhelming to me since I'm a total novice. I'm going to have to do some research to find out the meaning of some of those terms. as it is now I would say I'm kinda Luke warm about the filming since there is so much I don't understand, but as I learn I'm sure that will change. thanks for the tips Ray. much love, my brother . I understand brother. You take awesome pics so you're a natural. If you get out each day and try take at least 10 pics or videos from new angles, you'll find yourself getting even better. Also, enjoy the mornings and evenings. Take care brother.

I'm learning a lot of new things in this video that supplement photo 1 b+w really well. I often loose things: using s-biners in lieu of those little carabiners are less likely to completely fall off, and that is a really good tip for almost all travel--except checked luggage. If you ever have your smartphone repaired, bring your camera lenscleaner supplies and ask the repair technician to let you clean the inside of the camera lens. It's like automotive interior, once taken apart, it will not be machine-perfect, but helping it back to closest is important. (The dust in one of my three lenses has created a slightly different refraction of light) Rationing film and electricity is also a problem I have ever had. Missed shots from over use or inattention is a bummer. The deadweight avoidance advice is good for me, but what about over-use? Do you have advice on how much or little 35mm to bring? I just saw ona thise urban beachbum typa oldie dude wearing a reflective fishermans hat... 😂 Also, at one pctadzko i bought a "stikpik" which sets on hiking poles and fits into the slr tripod hole. I've not yet ever found anything as efficient and light for USB ports... ...

Thank you for your tips, and I'm glad you found something of value. I plan to have a video on the video gear I carry on an ultra-light trip. Still dialing it all in, but I tend to always bring too much. Thank you for watching.
