I hate the feeling of bad sessions man. You feel like all your progress went out the window. I had a bad sparring session against someone who I know I could easily beat (no disrespect to said person) but I was really struggling against this guy this day. I just got so angry and threw my headgear on the ground. I took some deep breaths after and relaxed. I got back in there and just did my job because regardless of how one feels, you just gotta do what needs to be done sometimes.

Yeah man, been there many times. It can definitely take a big mental toll on you for a few days. Just gotta remember that you can’t let that moment define you and keep pushing through.

To me, NO 8. is the most relatable one. Just had my 5th muay thai spar session yesterday, and it felt like I was the least trained one there. But that became the motivation for me to work harder.

Great tips, thank you so much and just subscribed. I am fairly new to sparring and one thing that has helped me is to go in focusing on a 1 skill per round or even just that session that I have work during the week. For example, recently I determined to just focus on my defense for the entire 2 hour session and not even worry about landing punches. Some rounds I didn't even throw a single punch but just worked and focused on defense and reaction. I did work combos as I felt comfortable but they were always the secondary focus. Some rounds I just focus on breathing, recovery and stamina.

another tip would be don't look at the ground, that's what I did the most in my first sparring while defending myself haha

Another one too, try to base the way you would fight around your physique. If your not a fast instinctive person in general, trying to fight like a light prime mayweather will be a lot more difficult than a fighting style that is more suited to your physique

As long as you keep coming back to it, it’s all good. Don’t be too hard on yourself, keep striving to be more disciplined and overtime it will all come together 💯

It’s mental man. I know this is months later after your comment but if this happens again, don’t think about it so much. Even after a month off, it’s not gonna legitimately make someone unhealthy or weaker. If you do it’s all mentally. It’s when it gets to months of not doing anything that’ll make you start to lose progress.

Yeah I sperred for the first tim in years recently and got my butt whipped. I'm not annoyed about being beaten, but just about the fact I lost my cool. Rookie error.
