@@lasing69 They can't force you to call. If the FAA wants to file a violation, they will personally deliver it to you. The phone number is usually either a number to the tower or a number to the FSDO (Flight Standards District Office) and it's usually your way out of a serious violation. Calling takes your chances of being violated from like 75% to about 20%, obviously considering the offense required for a pilot deviation.

Was on a conventional bombing range in NM on a routine training sortie in an F-111F when the control tower asked for a “fly by” to impress the USAFA cadets that were watching the action on a tour. I flew 300’ at 420Kts for a safe pass and was ready to head home when the tower chief called the pass “weak” and asked for a re-attack. My next pass was 80’ and 540kts shaking the tower like a leaf. “Don’t do that again!” Was chief’s next radio call 😂.

Aerosucre always had a problem with climbing. It's because they put too much weight in the aircraft, forcing it to climb skywards very slowly. By the way, all us Four Brothers were at the viewing platform when we saw the QANTAS Boeing 737 plane landing at Perth Airport. It's something we'd never thought we'd see, but it's lucky that they didn't crash. Besides, QANTAS didn't have any plane crashes since 1951, so it's a very lucky landing. Congratulations on making this video. We always watch The Weekly Dose of Aviation, and it's good. Well done.

I have never seen my dad afraid, only once. We were flying from NYC to Keflavik on Iceland and the turbulence was very bad, without seatbelts you would have flown out if your seat and there was stuff flying around the cabin. It took three attempts before we landed, and it was chilling in the first approach to see emergency vehicles prepared along the runway. I have never landed as rough. I've never experienced applause on an airplane as loud as that.

I have no idea if they can be deployed at any moment as the forces exerted during overspeed are (of course) much bigger than in normal use. Though I expect them to be able to take quite a bit of extra torque on the actuators, I expect such an event to result in critical failure of a few parts (I do hope that critical failure of a few parts is preferred over losing a complete aircraft though)

Actually, those are not near misses. They're near collisions. If they nearly missed, that would by definition mean they collided.
@DmdMixZ
@DmdMixZ Ай бұрын
Since you're trying to argue "by definition", here's the definition of a "near miss" from Wikipedia. You're welcome. "A near miss [...] is an unplanned event that has the potential to cause, but does not actually result in human injury, environmental or equipment damage, or an interruption to normal operation."
@Mo_Taser
@Mo_Taser Ай бұрын
@@DmdMixZ Just because "near miss" is engrained in the English vernacular and has been for decades, does not make it an accurate descriptor. It is still a misnomer. A near miss still implies a hit or a partial hit. Indeed, much has been written about the history of the term, some of which states that yes it is inaccurate, but it has become acceptable due to its repetition over decades. I can live with that. "I could care less" is another example. It's now commonly accepted that "I could care less" means one cares not at all, when in fact it means that one does care. One should actually be saying, "I couldn't care less." These examples come about mainly through the misunderstanding of language which are then repeated. Some catch on, some do not. I actually saw someone say to another, "Get off your pedal stool." Fortunately, that has never caught on. So, relax. You're champing a little too hard at the bit in an effort to prove your linguistic point. And of course, you are also welcome.
@DmdMixZ
@DmdMixZ Ай бұрын
@@Mo_Taser "So, relax. You're champing a little too hard at the bit in an effort to prove your linguistic point. And of course, you are also welcome." - Pretty bold finish for someone who wrote an essay while still being wrong. If you bring up whats written about the history you should also know that it is not inaccurate at all and also doesn't imply a hit or a partial hit. You seem to confuse "near" with "nearly" or at least interpret it as this is what it means, when in fact it does not. "Near miss" means that something missed, but was still close to the target, not that something "Nearly missed". It originated in the military where it was used mainly to give feedback on airstrikes and artillery strikes and gives information about the impact location relative to the target location. So yes, you might argue that it's often used incorrectly and out of it's original context, which would make it inaccurate. And yeah, if you want to die on that hill, you'd be right, because for it to be accurate the intention would have to be to hit something. The term itself is not a misnomer tho, which is why it is still frequently used in military and aviation context.
