@@Bradini267 About 35 year ago when i was a young man, i took my pool career real serious. I used to play against the area champion, needless to say, he kicked my ass on a regular basis and his motto was loser pays for the next game....i spent a fortune in a year. But i got better and better and after a year and a half i was on par with him. Not long afterwards, i was the one kicking his ass. He stopped playing me when he was the one reaching into his pocket for the next rack. Tight ass loser. lol :)

@@samtaurus007I did the same. I’m 26, started at 23 never picked up a cue before 23. I got my ass handed to me for a solid year as well. I couldn’t tell you how many games I played/payed to play in the first year. I only wanted to play better people. After the year I got better than them. Also always using bar cues while I played in my local APA league. Stopped APA. Because the people in my area are weird AF that play pool. And I don’t live in bumble fuck either. I’ve noticed the game of pool attracts horrible people unfortunately.

@@yuriboyka6131 You're not wrong there. During my playing days, i played much more dickheads than regular players. Bad losers were the worst or guys that would play for money, lose, then try to up the stakes when it's clear they couldn't afford it then swear on their kids lives they'd "pay you back next pay day". Guys who would blatantly cheat then get aggressive when you call them on it. Guys whom after getting thrashed accuse you of cheating. Drunk idiots staggering up to the table trying to take your cue off you to "show you how it should be done". One time i played a guy whom congratulated himself every single shot he played - "Oh, that's brilliant....what a shot....i'm the best" etc (i leathered him). I found out the thing about getting a reputation as an up and comer was every man and his dog wanted a high stakes game. It was with true regret i decided to end my pool career when i was still in my prime. Again, you're absolutely correct though, pool attracts the weirdest of the weird with a huge chunk of nasty thrown in. :)

There used to be a billiard hall right next to where I live and it was like $5 an hour or something. I had just turned 21 so buying beer and playing pool was a sweet time. A friend and I were there playing and we are able to not damage the equipment. Anyway this old guy comes out of nowhere and offers to teach us. I am so happy that we were open to learning. I had no idea that if you pretend that there are two balls touching and you want to hit the one ball in you just hit the cue ball to where that other imaginary ball would be. Also he showed us what spin does and how to make the ball rebound at a different angle then it approached the bumper. I went to Walmart and bought a pool cue it was only like 30 bucks and it was an American flag it was sweet because you can unscrew it and make it two pieces. Even though it was a cheap Walmart cue I noticed a large improvement in my game and also much more consistency. I'm now 41 and have only played a handful of times since then. Anyway my point is what is that glove that they are using to break? I only hit the 8-ball in once off of the break. I think I could generate a ton of power without endangering everyone else in the room with one of those gloves on. In case anyone was wondering before I learned from that old guy I would play in the bar and because it's a bar table the games usually went about 50/50. After learning from him once I got used to shooting on a bar table again I was destroying people. It is nice to be able to actually play on a full size table and if you don't know what you're doing it is not easy. Also that little kid is pretty good I mean to have that type of control over your body while you are growing is amazing.

The argument that there are 15 balls on the table makes no sense. There are only 15 balls on the table because the black was respotted. So, the player did pot a ball off the break; therefore it would be nice if they could continue. When you pot yellow or red on the break the table is open and you may continue. Why not with black?
@waveyjones3347
@waveyjones3347 5 ай бұрын
You technically haven’t made a pot as the black is re-spotted for the incoming player - hence “15 balls still on the table”. If you pot a colour and the black, you stay on and the black is re-spotted. It’s a pretty fair rule in my opinion. Even if it is frustrating
@wikusdebruyn2841
@wikusdebruyn2841 5 ай бұрын
@@waveyjones3347 We can agree to disagree. You did pot a ball. Technically it was respotted, but in reality it went down a pocket. In the end it doesn't matter. Games need rules and you'll never be able to please everyone. Sometimes you are the one only potting the black of the break and sometimes it's your opponent. So, it evens out, and if the rule was different the same would apply. So, I can see both arguments and I really enjoy this rule set.

@@wikusdebruyn2841 it’s a very attacking ruleset that’s very far removed from the original rules of English 8ball pool but they’re alright. There are still a few grey areas to iron out but once they’re set it’ll definitely be a better game for a TV audience that’s for sure. Blackball rules are much more rounded with no grey areas but again, not the best for TV as the whole two shots thing gets confusing

7ft by 4 ft. They're smaller than the American tables but the balls are a lot smaller and the pockets are a lot smaller in relation to the size of the balls. You have to be more accurate on these, with the American tables the ball can hit the rails and still drop and you can fit 2 balls in a pocket, these only take 1 and half balls. The cue ball is also slightly smaller than the object balls

I don't know what players you are watching. But at 15 that's 42 years ago I would have beaten those two easily. Probably would have beat them right up until I was made to wear glasses at 40. Then I stopped. And I was an average player in my town back in Northern Ireland. My brother was a better player and probably #1/2/3 in my town at different periods of time. We had no interest in playing for a living. We wanted to chase girls at that age. Play in the league wednesday night for a few drinks. Tables were tighter pockets and still are compared to those buckets. Rules have changed so many times in 40 years I wouldn't know what is a foul at the table anymore. Nearly as bad as football. But overhyping the kid is something they get good at in mainland UK. Then they become average when they mature. Personally if I played any of those when I was younger..I would be bored playing that slow. At 11.10 birds eye view. The size of those pockets I was half expecting a Gopher to come out of one of them.

I think that is the dumbest rule ever. If you sink the "8 ball" on the break you should win the game just like in 8 ball or 9 ball. Calling it a dry break and letting your opponent go after sinking that ball would take the wind out of everyone's sails. The fact that it happens so rarely and is seldom done should be reason enough to change that BS rule. The kid gets another win in his column if you ask me
