yogg789 I remember back in 2008 I was 14. My mind was blown how real time everything was. Boat arrivals, time schedules everywhere. The travel to Ludibrum for the first time. It felt like I was going far away from home, a different world... so nostalgic. Amongst my travels I met new faces, friends and rivals guilds.. it was a wholesome. My guild was activily rivaling the other one to the point we genuinely hated each other but in a friendly matter, like if I saw someone from the other guild making some gains or losses the leader would clown the rivalling leader haha.. we always knew who the new members were, who defected us in the hard times joining an other guild, everything. think Maple Story was the best possible mmorpg to unintentionally roleplay in.

Started back in '06 when the tutorial was friggin' hard. Kept dying to the Red Ribbon Pig >:( Dropped after a few months because my laptop at the time was laggy to the point where it was unplayable Fast forward to 2010 when my classmates in highschool were making skits in Maplestory for class (lol) That marriage system gave them a lot to work with Reentered Maplestory in 2012 and tried to level a Mercedes. Remembered it was a huge accomplishment to hit lvl 95 Q_Q Quit after a year to take care of irl stuff Now quarantined and I've come back to check the game back out lol.

Man, this nostalgia gives me such a rush of emotions. Starting my own Guild and being recognized as a top Guild on the server. The day I hit 200 and having everyone around me spamming showing love and the announcement it would show everyone playing that I hit 200. Random people whispering congratulations. Getting married in APQ with someone I fell in love with that I never even physically met. The obvious ones like KPQ, LMPQ, the carnival, just spending all those days grinding. Then it all just went downhill when my character got hacked and someone stole everything and then got petty and went back and deleted my character. That was a painful day, as dramatic as it sounds, you're a kid and that's your life's work essentially all gone. Hackers were so wild and prominent back then. What's crazy is a fellow guildmate I found out recreated my character and leveled it back to 200 for me. He's forever someone no matter how much time passes and we don't speak, will forever hold a part in my heart. I actually just messaged him after watching this to check in. I'm almost 29 now, and I was 18 when I stopped playing. People thought I had a real issue with how much time I spent on Maple, but this was some of the best memories of my life.

I remember when I first started playing in grade school in 2004-2005, there was only one world, "Tespia." There were only 4 classes, and if I remember correctly Orbis wasn't even around then, let alone all the other maps besides Maple Island and Victoria Island. I wanted to be a mage, but because I didn't know better, I added all my SP into strength so I could level up faster in the beginning, only to realize I had permanently messed up my character stats. I also maxed energy bolt instead of magic guard, so I also never was able to take much of a hit from stronger monsters. I quit around level 36 after 2nd job advancing to a cleric since it became so hard to level up, but I will never forget when the times were simpler, no one knew what they were doing, and we just had fun exploring a brand new world. Thanks for posting videos like this coppersan to bring back the nostalgia!

Tespia was Beta with only 2nd job, there were 4 classes with their respective sub classes. Archer> bowman/crossbowman, warrior>fighter/spearman/page, mage>cleric/lit mage/fire mage, thief>assassin/bandit. Made it to a 78 spearman there farming Jr Balrog for my lvl70 weapon (Golden Dragon) :)

@@WellsJimmy well it took some hardcore grinding and knowing which spots to train, best spot around that lvl was cargo map and not because of the cargos, but because of the ice eyes. My friend started later was 85 ice mage.

I remember when I first started selling ores by the hay stack in henesys to get gear. Everyone passed that spot to train the next map. I remember people used to chill in that map all the time. It was a hotspot for training while still being around other maplers. I miss that. You had so many random interactions with people. I remember pretending to get adopted and having a maple mom and sister for a little bit. Good times. Lots of memories for sure.

Maplestory was genuinely one of the best mmorpg video games I've ever played and I'm currently 25 y/o ( haven't played it since 2012-2013 when shit started going south ), the only regret I have regarding Maplestory is, when it was still good, I was too young and literally didn't have the tools nor the knowledge t omake progress and actually enjoy this game. I do hope with all my heart that Nexon will make one good decision and create a classic version of Maplestory. I have no doubt that even tho it's an old ass game, many players might return and keep it more lively than ever. I know I will.

there was a period after big bang when game was still super fun PQ were still booming, leveling was still challenging enough and party areas at high levels were popular and a fun place to meet friends... to me that was the peak of maple. Before that was nostalgic but had many issues... and after that became the game it is today which you cant even play late game without p2w and you speed to lv 200 in a couple days entirely solo then just buy gear and log in to do your dailies..

I remember playing this summer of 2006, right before 7th grade, with my little sister, my girl cousin and a boy childhood friend. We were all neighbors and would strive to play at the same time. I was a die hard video game player even though I would never call myself an expert. I used to skip whole days from school just to play. I remember my first character was a female warrior and that free hairstyle coupon gave me that darn bowl undercut. My sister getting an i game boyfriend. And then quitting because our pc couldn't handle the new patches. And then playing in again when I was in my 2nd year in university. I remember being confused big time because everything had changed. And after getting to my later years in uni with all the subjects I had to take and the mock board exams. I just quit and haven't played since. And checking it out now, it'll never be the same childhood game I loved.

I remember seeing maplestory advertisements on KZbin where it was a bunch of random characters being chased by someone with a poo stick, so I thought maplestory was a game where the hero uses a poo stick and farms. Then I saw how cute the monster sprites were and I gave it a chance in 2011, when the legend update was released. Fell in love with the game, it's a shame I didn't know ms pre-bang, but I still had a good time. The Tempest update was one of the most memorable updates for me, seeing the kms leaks, then waiting months for gms to catch up... really, I never knew game animation could look so pretty. Anyhow I can't say I love the direction the game was headed and new updates don't seem to fill me with that excitement anymore. Thank you for compiling this- I had no idea resistance was released not so long before I started playing!

Gets me all teary eyed thinking about the old maple. All the good memories and careless nights of just grinding/meeting new friends and talking to them until 4am. I still know some of my good maple buddies but something just isn’t the same. I think it’s because we’re all grown up now we have responsibilities and not as much free time to just be worry free. 0:32 was what I remember Maple Global looking like, also the moment when FangBlade took Tiger's spot as #1 in overall rankings. Going to Basil Market and Hidden Street to find out how much you should be selling your stuff at the FM's. Then going to the FM and trolling booths and leaving responses saying "let me know you are leaving, I want your spot." Then you turn around and sell the spot to make profit. The party quest in Ludi. The jump quest in Sleepywood. Some of the better memories: - the wait for the ship to Orbis - the Crimson Balrog on the way to Orbis - the summoning bags in the different cities - rolling for your stats If any of you remember those days, we have come a long way but remember the good ol days.

2011 was such a Golden Age for me in this game. Super wealthy, OP character, huge Guild with tons of friends. I remember having a Protege, and giving him my old gear for free every time I upgraded it, the guy was so happy. And I remember getting the permanent Dragon mount, and people losing their minds when I rode through populated towns. A few months ago I jumped back into the game to see how things were after years away from it, and now I'm essentially broke, my main class is obsolete, and my once OP gear is average at best LOL.

15 years, that's such a long time. I started playing maplestory in 2005 at the ripe age of 7...! Some of the most memorable moments and events for me were: It took me hours to roll the perfect 4/4. The old cursor was a blue diamond, and the buddy list was skinny. The first time I made a character, I left maple island at level 7, and my brother made me restart. I made a warrior, but I loved the mage clothing. I spent all of my money buying both male and female mage gear, only to realize I could not wear any of it. Perion channel 1 was the place to be to sell/buy things before freemarket. Kerning PQ was the ideal way to get from levels 21-31. Pig beach was a great place to train. My brother and I got scammed 3k mesos for a sword we really wanted, through the "tab tab space enter" method. Collecting candies during the halloween event, and getting the pumpkin basket Getting the Pocahontas hat thingfrom the thanksgiving turkey event. The ship to Orbis, and accidentally going AFK before it started and getting killed by Balrog. Getting stuck in El Nath. My brother's friend had to come and help me find the way back. The og Prodigy - I met him a few times in Bera. He was a godly level 70. Sleepywood dungeon escapades just for fun. When Cash Shop first came out. Going to florina beach just for fun. The Christmas tree event, spelling things with letters, getting the rudolph nose thing Getting my first Cash Shop pet, and changing my hairstyle. The surfboard event. Ludi PQ was the best way to get from level 35-51. Making friends, hanging out at Henesys channel 1, trying to get EXP hairstyles Exploring Aqua Road. Getting stuck with horrible hair from the Amoria free hair quest. Crowds attending Amoria weddings. ...I'll probably think of more later

One of the most amusing things i find about being a maplestory fan is that im only 6 days older than the GMS release but its still the game i know from the longest time. gotta give a shout out to my dad who prob downloaded it for my brothers.

Mostly agree, played since late 2006, but it was also really refreshing around 2008-2011 when MS introduced a TON of new stuff (pirates + resistance) and Carnival PQ, so it was a nice change in that sense but yea after 2011 it started to die off for me when they just blindly added new classes and as a result, all the classes lost their meaning and value in a way.

Man I miss MapleStory, 2006-2010 is when I played and I think it's safe to say those were the golden years of the game. edit: 4:29 people would channel surf until they found the dragon/griffin (I don't remember their names) and would usually have other people helping them. If you and your guild (or friends) killed a dragon/griffin you would know which channel and when exactly it would respawn. There also weren't TOO many people at 4th job when it came out (at least in Bera) so it would take maybe a couple of hours if you were unlucky. NOW WHAT REALLY SUCKED was needing the books to actually get the skills. Those books were hard to find right when 4th job came out. UGH I remember killing so many slimes to find a Maple Sword during the first anniversary.

They way to mushmom was filled with iron hogs, every time you cc'ed you were thrown back to henesys to start the the helish trip all over again. At Pig beach where that one iron hog spawned. Balrogs, going afk on the boat towards orbis only to find out you've been killed by them. Rolling dice for them good dexless sin stats. And many more memories, made some good friends along the way.

fuuuuuck I was ten when I started playing maplestory? I remember when it was only Scania and Bera, like it should be. This game taught me more on how to type on a keyboard than my school ever did. I remember someone asked if I played piano because I could type so fast and I was too embarrassed to say that it was due to an online game, so I just lied and said I played piano LOL. Look at the world now, gaming is somewhat acceptable now lol. And then sadly one day in 2014 my account password randomly stopped working and I had to leave my dope ass i/l mage at lvl 169 and watch all my friends reach 200 before me ;o; sad days. I quit after that lol. Wow this brought back so much nostalgia, this was my liiiife for like 9 years. damn dude... I kinda want to try playing again now lol.

Me too..since i started playing maplestory way too young (around 7 years old), i noticed that i type way faster than my friends..and also having good basics of English (english isnt my first language tho) XD All thanks to spending hours playing maple. Later, I quitted in 2015 bcuz maple kept on having rollbacks and I've getting fed up of my unsaved game. I remembered I spent 4~5 hours to hunt for a Christmas chair (in the meantime i did level up some). The moment I finally got the chair i was kicked out and my character went back to the level i first log into game. This happened thrice and i finally gave up maple...*sniff sniff*

2010 was bad so many rollbacks. They took out henesys hunting ground. Everything we loved about maplestory started to disappear. Maplestory will always have a special place in my heart. People were so nice, they were willing to help out new players, saying congrats when we leveled up and even gave out high leveled items for free. I loved my friends that I made in game and will forever remember the fun times we had. The adventures of going to sleepywood while being low leveled, orbis, and going on the boat and getting killed by Barlog. Thank you Maplestory!

Was basically playing from 2006-2010 every chance i could, even playing in the dark living room when i wasn't sapose to be awake. Then 2011 hit and had my first sip of alcohol and the rest was history. Partied my life away from 2011-2017. Got a decent job at a local bank in 2018. Life was gradually showing its true colors to me, and ever since the pandemic I've been online everyday, there was alot of new content it almost overwhelmed me a little. But after hiding my exp bar and started grinding, nostalgia hit me so hard i almost shed a tear.

i still remember starting back in '05 of summer after graduating from elementary school. there was only scania, bera, and broa. only 4 basic jobs and up to 2nd job placement. orbis was the furthest we could travel to. then came 3rd job advancements and ludi and so many cool things. i remember taking the bus to target with my friend and brother to buy NX cards when they were released. we bought some cool cash items and made a bet on who could get a girlfriend on maplestory the fastest. it was fun exploring new places. going deep inside sleepywood to try and see jr balrog but getting killed at some point because the monsters' levels were too high. listening to the maplestory music as we explored new places. my favorite maplestory bgm was the ludi pq one. that godlike music when we got in put a smile to me and my partymates' faces. ahhh so many memories..
