The cat aspect nearly cost Sigorney her role. It was played by several cats trained specifically for their stunts and was very costly. She showed some signs of serious allergy to them and later stated she knew if it came between her and the cats, they would have chosen her to recast. They were not about to eat the cost already sunk into them and rewrite the script for that so she was grateful to learn it wasn't the cats that she was actually allergic to. Apparently it was a combination of the glycerin they used to immate sweat along with the cat hair. Once they stopped using the glycerin, her skin reaction died down and she was fine filming with them.

Mistakes about Aliens: -Ripley was in cryosleep for 50 years -the planet is the same planet. While Ripley was in Cryosee, the company built a colony on that planet -watch the director's cut. Ripley learns her daughter grew , lived a long life, and died. Also, after she tells the company execs oncwhat happened to the Nostromo, Burke contacts the colony and asks them to check out the nest. Regarding Aliens: The reason why she agrees to go back to lv426 is NOT the prospect of getting her job back. The reason is to face her post-traumatic stress disorder (she has nightmares constantly), hence the midnight call to Burke. She agrees to come if they destroy the alien(s).

He got several aspects wrong on Aliens. First off a Salvage Ship finds Ripley and brings her back to the base. Second- It IS the same planet, LV-426 from Alien. Ripley’s take of the xeno is what motivates the WY Corp to send someone to look for the derelict ship and what they find is death. When the colony stops transmitting is when they decide to send the Colonial Marines and Ripley as a guide. There were more errors but I pretty much lost my will to listen to much more.

@@tylerskiss And there are two reasons why they send in the USCMC, one it's in United Americas Territory and two at this point in time, some of the USCMC Brass had stocks in Weyland Yutani so they had an obligation to the company to help them get a hold of said specimen of the Xenomorph, but after these marines are attacked from say about twenty marines down to four from the attack from the Xenomorphs and all the Marines side with Ripley cause they know she's dealt with this creature before and survived, which in turn makes Burke desperate to try too get Ripley and Newt Implanted with an embryo of the xenomorph which fails.

The reason Prometheus kind of falls apart near the end isn’t Scott’s fault. There was an extensive dialogue between the engineer and David that he had to cut. That’s why it seems confusing. There’s a backstory as to why the engineer goes berserk etc that was edited out.

I always go back and forth whether I like Alien or Aliens more. Alien is definitely a master when it comes to suspense and it absolutely clears when it comes to the Sci-Fi/Horror elements, meanwhile Aliens in my opinion has stronger and more likable characters like Hicks, Bishop, and Newt. I really love those first two films and can't decide which one I like over the other. When it comes to Alien 3 I prefer the Assembly cut since it fills in a lot of the plot holes. Also killing off Hicks and Newt in the opening still leaves a sour taste in my mouth, and what they should've done is maybe have Ripley's pod be completely separated from the Sulaco. Despite those complaints I think the Assembly cut of Alien 3 is kind of underrated. Alien Resurrection was a guilty pleasure of mine when I first watched it, but it is absolute dog water, and I probably won't watch it again. I really like Prometheus and Michael Fassbender is absolutely amazing as David. Also speaking of Prometheus, the film was titled "Alien: Engineers", and it originally was going to include xenomorphs in it and it would've taken place on LV-426, making it a direct prequel to the first Alien film, but Ridley Scott didn't want to include the xenomorphs in the film. I have very mixed feelings towards Alien: Covenant but the ending is absolutely chilling.

You are missing one core story and that's the one from Alien Isolation. It's a direct sequel to the first film and features Amanda Ripley, Ellen Ripley's daughter, while Ellen is still in cryo-sleep. It is a great story and continues the extended lore but is obviously separate from the original 4 films. There's also a lot of comic stories that are canon to the overarching plot so, I highly recommend checking those out too if you get the chance!

Amanda is canon without the game. In ALIENS Director's Cut, Burke came to Ellen Ripley to get ready for her testimony in front of the corporate bigwigs. However she only cared for the whereabouts of her daughter. Burke reluctantly revealed that Amanda had passed away 2 yrs before Ellen returned home. This explains why Ellen was so eager to save Newt. A way to raise a daughter she never got to raise. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fYGspaKDm7V7grM

Everyone always criticises the 'prometheus academy of running away', but rapace's character DOES go to the side, and nearly gets crushed when the ship falls to the side. I blame the huge amount of memeing on this scene mostly on the editing, there are sooo many cuts in that running scene. I've been watching alien and aliens for longer than I can remember, it was interesting to hear a kind of 'first viewing ' perspective on them, and I learned some bts things I didn't know! 👍

One of the greatest missed opportunities in the Alien franchise is Weyland-Yutani. "The Company" is the over-arching background antagonist in the entire franchise. The original trilogy seems to be building to some kind of confrontation with Weyland-Yutani but they seem to go a different direction for no logical reason in the third act. That script literally writes itself given what we see in the first two films. Seeing the results of a military-industrial complex taken to extreme limits is as terrifying as the creatures. Moreover, the concept of "they've been here all along" beautifully ties together the Alien and Predator franchises via the first Alien V Predator film. In many ways, the creatures and Weyland-Yutani are EXACTLY alike......
@Joselitty
@Joselitty Ай бұрын
Yea originally that what was Alien 3 going to be about. Sigourney Weaver wanted to step down as Ripley because she felt that her arc was completed. So Michael Biehn as Hicks was gonna become the new main character with Lance Henriksen as Bishop being the secondary character -- the two of them were going to go against Weyland-Yutani in what was gonna be a cold war-esque thriller action movie with aliens in it. Really fascinating idea. But then the cold war ended, other things happened, and then the studio still wanted Weaver so we never got this version :( but there's audio drama starring Biehn and Henriksen of the OG alien 3 concept that was written by William Gibson.

Being a film commentator and not acknowledging or knowing the importance of the fourth film’s director Jean-Pierre Jeunet is a miss. He directed Delicatessen and City of Lost children, and would go on to direct the film Amélie. While no series is defined by its directors, the pedigree and effort in retaining the detectors that it did is perhaps unparalleled.

One of the themes about Aliens is motherhood. Ripley learns that her daughter lived a long life and has died while she is still alive. When she finds Newt, Ripley’s maternal instincts takes over and she protects Newt with her life. Same with the Queen and her eggs. I get it. You’re a young cinephile. I was at one point in time too. You need to see extended version of Aliens. Ripley had a daughter who grew old and died while she floated in space. This explains Ripley’s intense interest in Newt, and in next movie, how she died. Ripley had promised to be home for daughter’s 9th ? Birthday.

‘Aliens’ is not only one of the greatest sequels ever, it’s one of the best films ever, and Ellen Ripley is proof-positive that a lead female character can be an absolute badass *but still retain* her femininity. After missing out on all of her daughter’s life Ripley falls for Newt almost instantly, and she faces down horrors that have slain heavily armed Colonial Marines in order to save Newt. When Newt calls Ripley “mommy” it will hit you right in the feels, and is only slightly lesser than Ripley saying “Get away from my daughter, you bitch!” to the Queen. Afterwards, Ellen officially adopted Newt and after two years of dating Ellen and Hicks were married and went on to have two children of their own in addition to Newt. Bishop was repaired and is still around being a great guy. I don’t care what you say - ‘Alien 3’ and ‘Resurrection’ NEVER HAPPENED. PERIOD.

Something you missed about Alien, and most people do since the movie is so old that basically everyone knows Ripley is the main character, is that the first half of the movie is structured to make you think that Dallas is the main character. I feel like David's character in Prometheus was meant to represent the relationship between humans and the engineers. David KNEW his creators, and they were callous and cruel. he was a thing they made for a purpose and nothing beyond that purpose, no matter what he wanted. the movie makes it clear that David had the potential to become a real being but it gets stamped out of him by the cruelty of his masters. then we se what happens when humans meet THEIR creators . . . In the end the only thing humans passed on to their creation was the desire to create, regardless of ethics, and that's why we see the monstrosity that David helps birth into the world.

It fails then she goes back the same path she did before and happens to find the cage still there. Idk how people got this scene wrong. Edit: She never came back for the cat, it just happened to the cat be on the path. She saved it because why not, it's better to have company than being alone in cryosleep.

The replicants in Blade Runner are not androids like Bishop and Ash were. They were flesh and blood people basically grown in a lab. But their internals were all identical to a human. If you took a replicants brain and put it by a humans you would not be able to tell the difference. Now the replicants were engineered to be A LOT tougher than humans as you know if you’ve seen Blade Runner. The first one is way better than the sequel. Alien scares me to this day. Something about being literally trapped on a ship in interstellar space with an aggressive alien on board is just terrifying.

No. That's what they _attempted_ to do. Look, Scott makes stories that can't be captured in any single movie but refuses to make them into mini-series that would MUCH better suit what he's going for anyway. The Hollywood market would never have paid as much for those, but that's what he needs. Without that extra room much that would make things make a little more sense _AND_ explore the themes as he wants to. As it stands we need Yt channels that show us deleted scenes without which much of his stories make Zero Sense.

At the start of Prometheus we see the first engineer kill himself - I think he is Prometheus: the figure from Greek mythology who steals fire from the gods and gives it to humanity. He is marooned by the other engineers for giving humanity access to technology they don't want them to have. The Greeks gave condemned people the option of killing themselves, so that explains the first engineer/Prometheus character using to poison to kill himself. The other engineers resolve to wipe humanity out. Meanwhile, using the technology that the first engineer/Prometheus character gave to them without permission, humans come to find the engineers, erroneously believing they've been "invited". Moral of the story: a little knowledge is a dangerous thing.

I’ve been a fan since I first saw “Aliens” in 91 on LaserDisk. It became my favorite movie. Hell, I acquired the special permits and built a live firing recreation of the pulse rifle. As far as the cat in the first movie, I dug it because it knew a predator was there even though the people didn’t. To me it gave an extra sense of “oh fuck”. And I may be reading too much into this , but the names of the planets relate to real world things, LV426 would be the 426 Hemi and LV 223 is the 223 rifle caliber

For instance the budget for aliens 2, was significantly lower than the 1st movie and they had to show some practical effects in order to get more money. Or that in the scene with sigourney riding the yellow machine there was a very strong man lifting her in order to perform, and for a prank (kinda bad prank) they put a cucumber in his pants to make her feel uncomfortable. More stuff like that, in addition to your content

I know many people dislike Prometheus, but it's a guilty pleasure of mine. However, despite really liking it, I absolutely hate Aliens: Covenant. First, having a colony ship in an Aliens movie is just begging for sacrificial lambs, which means I didn't care about these people at all. The funniest part is that Riddley Scott tried to get people interested in these characters as they put out some videos introducing them on the internet. Well... it failed. Second, the new Captain is a grade A mor>n. Who in their right mind would go to a planet that literally shouldn't be there at all, yet has a breathable atmosphere, which raises many red flags instead of aiming for their original trajectory? Third, this ratchets the gore to a 9/10, which turned me off. Fourth, the fully grown, tiny aliens that can move flawlessly has to be the d>mbest thing ever. Fifth, the crew does the exact same st
