I am very surprised that I just now discovered you, Persolaise! Love your whole vibe and presentation style. Terre D'Hermes is a BIG favorite of mine and has a great back-story for me. We were in Paris of all places at the Louvré - it was my first time visiting (2013). Anyway, I smelled this on a gentlemen at the Louvré in passing and was not quick enough to ask him what the fragrance was. The scent was so incredible that I could not get it out of my head - I loved it that much. On our return at the Paris Charles de Gaulle airport fragrance shop, I was determined to figure it out simply by sampling scents and using google on my phone. Long story short, I finally found it after sniffing a ton of fragrances. I was ecstatic and felt like quite the detective! lol

Hello Persolaise, my story with Terre is that it was recommended by Sali Hughes in an article dating back from several years ago saying women that like spicy scents could wear it too, then I found your videos where you explained the vetyver aspects (at the time where I had found out that I liked that note also after reading an old article of Sali's for the Guerlain EDT) and finally recently Alice du Parcq told it was one of her husband's favourite and she used it as a calming scent in the tube for example. If it is not a recommendation from the Holy Trinity of perfume I don't know what it is ;) As I am a novice in perfume and just 27, so careful of prices, I thaught it was too strong for me at the beginning but now I am loving it, and really trying to "own it" in the day especially since autumn is here. Will have to try it in the evening, I am sure it will work!

This was one of the first fragrances I owned. If I remember correctly, a sales assistant in a big German perfumery chain recommended it to me because I said I enjoyed woody scents. I was 16 or 17 at the time. I had that EdT for ages and it was something like my signature scent. A friend at school said I smelled like her grandfather because he also was a fan of terre. Anyway, fast forward to 29 year old me: I recently gave the tiny rest of my cherished EdT to my partner (who loves it) and also treated myself to a bottle of the parfum version (among way too many other bottles since really getting into this world this year). Thank you for this in-depth review. TdH will always be special to me.

What a fabulous review of Terre D’hermes! I very much enjoy your videos as you appear to really connect with perfumery as an art form. A recent fan of Terre- edt, as I started wearing it a year ago when looking for a new cologne to wear. On first sniff it appeared to transport me to another time and place in my dim and distant past- in a good way and have been emotionally connected to wearing it ever since! My wife unfortunately gets none of this and really doesn’t like it! Too spicy and old man like - she states!!

I was quite afraid and taken back when I first smelled it. 21 yo me was not a fan of the woods. I then smelled eau tres fraiche the same year and followed the idea of a orange being ground into the moist Earth. 2 years later I start trying to look back at scents that I was afraid of. I smelled the original and absolutely enjoyed the hespiridic nature of the orange which I now take as grapefruit and the cedar/vetiver. I'm so glad to own the original and eau tres fraiche. I wore eau tres fraiche on holiday to Italy and associate it with the country. Additionally I tried the vetiver one but liked the original better even though the top was quite attractive. Wonderful recap of the scent.

I got a bottle recently and im going through it in no time, crazy how addictive this scent is to me, i think its a disservice to only classify this as a "office scent", this is art in a bottle. Makes me feel like im in a desert in the middle of the summer

Great commentary! Terre d'Hermes edt reminds me of my father while I was growing up in Dallas Texas.... it's rugged, very manly, elegant and very cowboyish...just like Dad! Perhaps it's the combo of the patchouli, gun flint and the Hermes horse 🐎... it's a love for me🤠

I also dont own this one... when it comed to hermes i would rather wear bel ami or bel ami vetiver... if you had to buy terre all over again.. what concentration would you buy right now? The edt or the parfum??

That’s correct. 55% it is a combination of Iso E Super and Timbersilk (an iso e product with slightly higher concentration of the gamma isomer of the chemical).

It still smells good but it is not the same fragrance it was between 2006-2011. It's boring to bring up batches and reformulations but what are you gonna do.

I guess that, in the case of something that was made in 2006, some level of reformulation is absolutely inevitable.

I always buy Terre for my dad (he loves it - I think 2022 is his 16th anniversary with this scent) and I often steal a few spritzes from his bottle 😁
