How do people afford this. I’m on disability from this horrible pain since 1998 and a failed MVD in 2001. I just want to end it all…

Hi, Dr. Ben Sutter. I really appreciate your content; it gives me hope for my own TMD issues that I've been dealing with for nearly 10 years. Does DTR work when someone is missing a single tooth? I'm currently wearing braces to correct a deep overbite, and I'm missing tooth #21 (34 in international notation), leaving only a gap where the tooth used to be. Would DTR still be possible after completing orthodontic treatment with one missing tooth? Do you suggest I get the tooth implanted before starting DTR, or can I proceed with DTR without the implant? I've been in pain for almost a decade, and I really want to end this suffering. If I could have DTR done without needing an implant, that would save me a lot of time and stress.

yes, DTR is still highly effective with 1 tooth missing

@DrBenSutterEugene my constant neuropathic pain has been from lots of dental work over the past 2.5 years. I have 3 dental implants , and I have 4 teeth missing on the right side. Tooth extractions have made this worse and bilateral. I do have an overbite too. If I get partial dentures to fill in the gaps, will I be possibly eligible for DTR therapy?
@DrBenSutterEugeneАй бұрын
@@the_city_gent2856 it is possible. Without completing an exam it is challenging to offer any real advice. I do offer phone consults if interested to dive into your specifics. We would have you submit photos of your bite so we could have some representation of how your teeth come together

I have t.mj and have had nerve sensations. You said I wasn't suitable for dtr because I would need braces first. I'm worried braces will make my tmj worse.

So that I am clear..., the DTR is effective for TMJ but not for atypical trigeminal neuralgia, correct?
@DrBenSutterEugeneАй бұрын
you are 100% correct, but the point is most of the people that have the MRI DONA ARE MISDIAGNOSED!!! I have other videos with people that have had multiple MVDs and Gamma knife that didn't work. The confusing part is poor patients go in looking for help, they get the diagnosis of whatever and don't dig any further. TMJ is a great chameleon and can look like many different things. I would rule this out before signing up for any kind of brain surgery. I hope that helps

Can you work with wisdom teeth that are grown in too ? I bite on them only and most left side. I have so many symptoms going on it’s ruining my life. Just had a baby 8 months ago and chasing structural symptoms and now I know it’s my jaw and bite. 😢😢😢
@DrBenSutterEugene28 күн бұрын
Wisdom teeth make DTR way more difficult than it has to be. As a rule lower 3rd molars need to be out at a minimum. Generally, I do not treat patients with this therapy that have wisdom teeth. Of course these are generalities and it is impossible to comment on your specific case without a consult/exam.

@ Thankyou for your reply! One more question: is it more beneficial to have my wisdom teeth taken out to maybe balance out my bite ? I’m scared to have them removed and affect anything else in my brain. Idk how important wisdom teeth are

Is your work similar to "neuromuscular dentistry"?
@DrBenSutterEugene22 күн бұрын
DTR does not use a TENS, nor does it alter jaw position. It does reduce overactive muscle activity for sure. data very clear om that

@@DrBenSutterEugene So, do you believe they are equally effective?
@DrBenSutterEugene22 күн бұрын
@@rainbow20112011 Thats a great question. They can be but from patient to patient symptoms and factors can be so customized. I would say broad strokes yes. I have had probably 15-20 people where DTR was not effective so I built a NM Orthotic, which didn't work either, which means the patient had something else going on. 3 of those I referred to Chiropractic and they improved even more. So sometimes conditions are so complex "it takes a village" to help people. All made more complex by the fact we cant see pain. The bottom line is, if the bite is off should it be corrected, regardless of symptoms, because by not correcting it, you will need more restorative or periodontal dentistry to maintain a faulty occlusion.
