35:28-36:00 rough translation, note althought chinese is my mother tongue im not fantastic at it: June: today i brought you persimmon, and also cut pineapple for you. Then i made you a pancake, bought from the store. Try a mouth and tell me if you like it or not, if you like it I'll buy it again, if not I won't buy anymore. Try a mouth. Lao Lao: noises of agreement and acknowledgement. Lao Lao: 好!meaning good June: do you like it? Lao Lao: I like it 36:00 June: today feels like.... Lao Lao: eh? cant see [herself in the camera?] anymore June: i can see it Lao Lao: oh you can see it June: yes, if you want to see it i can turn it around for you to see. here, can you see it now? Lao Lao: oh i can see it now, *laughs* June: is it fun? Lao Lao: nods VERY CUTE MOMENT 36:30 Lao Lao: with you accompanying me, im so happy 😄 June: that's great, Lao Lao

June - you're totally right. Grief *can* change our perspective on trying stuff/buying items/experiencing new things. My dad died when I was twelve and he was only forty-three, and several other close family members also died between when I was ten to twenty-one. Honestly, try the interesting snacks. Buy your favourite foods. Purchase those you love just for their nostalgia value. You and your life are worth it. Re the long COVID, as someone with M.E. you just do the best you can with the resources you have each day. You are doing your best, and your best is enough

My grandma died over the summer. My mom and I both found ourselves wanting foods associated with her, including heavenly hash (also called ambrosia salad) and the cake she made for any time people were coming for dinner or there was a church potluck. Food memories are a big thing. I remembered my grandma's favorite flavor for jams and candies was raspberries, which is mine too. I remember her giving us her favorite candies and how she gave me coffee that was half either ice cream or cool whip because I couldn't have hot chocolate. She would try anything her grandkids offered but would never take the last piece. She would fill us with chocolates that were gifted to her and her favorites were always Fannie May. Those are the things we keep with us and pass down.

the key with chestnuts is preparing them in small batches. it is easiest to peel them while they're still hot. you can also soak them before scoring, that way the outer skin is a little looser and softer but sometimes they're slippery when wet so be very careful. my family grows and harvests chestnuts in greece and i've been preparing and eating them since i was a child :)

I don't just mean the moments when you discuss your mental health, though I relate to those moments, but also the moments when you are trying something new and are uncertain. It is hard to be vulnerable with people in one's life, those close to us, so I imagine it is even harder when one puts those moments online. They mean a lot to me, though. It is a reminder that human experiences are not so different at times and maybe we need to check in with ourselves a little more often.

In the future I think you should split this into multiple parts so you can earn more ad revenue. A 2 hour video is a lot of work, your old employer would've milked this content for months! You can do one shopping vlog, one haul video with taste test, what I eat in a week, cooking for grandma and the visit, and recipe videos. We would watch them all for you! Also, girl, nobody would judge you for taking an Uber or taxi home when you have covid exhaustion and a 40min walk carrying twice your body mass! Take care of yourself first! Also, papaya has papain which is an enzyme that eats away at skin cells, like when you eat too much pineapple and it burns your tongue from the bromaline.

My tips for chestnuts: 1. Soak them in cold water before cutting (1 or 2 hours) This makes them easier to cut and helps to separate that inner furry skin 2. Put a bowl of water in the oven when roasting them (helps to separate the skin too) 3. Don't let them cool down. Peal them as hot as you can tolerate. The hotter the easier. And yes. Roasting them in the oven is the only good way.

Hi June! Not sure if someone already answered this, but papaya has some pretty strong natural enzymes that can be used as a great skin brightener and exfoliant, but def makes sensitive skin angry. Fancy skin products often contain “papaya extracts” (whatever that means). Also, I know I’m saying this 5 months late but I was having a really shitty day and it was so lovely to just chill with you for 2 hours. Thank you as always for being here and being so real. ❤

June, I teared up right at the end when you talked to your mom. I, too, was very young when my mom went on to what's next. (I was 33.) This June it'll have been 25 years since she passed - a number that seems unfathomable, frankly - and some days, it still seems impossible she isn't here anymore. But you'll be okay, I assure you. Talk to her as you need to, just like you did in this video. And don't be surprised when she comes to you in that moment just before you wake, with advice and suggestions, especially when your life seems like it is careening out of control. I wish you peace, young sweetheart.

Dollar tree yes!!! Just do Dollar tree dinners for a week. I understand that grief changes how we do things moving forward. My great grandma taught me to never act your age, my grammie taught me to always speak your mind, my poppie (grandpa) taught me to laugh as much as possible, and my mother in law taught me to fight as hard as I can for what I want💜 Your new place is lovely and I'm glad to see new content (your channel is something my teenagers and I watch together because you always cook amazing food and your sense of humor is top notch)

Dear June. Thank you for treating us to videos even when you are going through such a rough time. You are an absolute inspiration. A small tip on opening mangosteens: break off the stem at the top, squeeze the fruit between your palms until the skin cracks, then open it. This way the fruit pulp stays whole and the astringent juice from the skin doesn’t get into the fruit as much as it does when you are using a blade to open it.

1:00:26 The papaya has a natural enzyme called papain, that is widely used in face peeling solutions! It breaks down protein in the same way that pineapple does when you eat a lot of it. It is also used in meat tenderisers! That's why if you have sensitive skin you might feel irritation.

Joooneeee-yah….(calling you in a Korean manner of a close circle member), I’d like to comment on how your “up close and personal” visuals are literally that - your mouth is right in front of the camera, and so are food items. I love it. We are given very close looks at things and get to see your reactions up close. It all feels very raw and real, nothing edited out, nothing hidden. Rare quality with most other KZbinrs and the like….agree? It’s why I keep watching ❤️
