All the best with your new truck. DAF is biggest selling heavy truck make in UK and is Paccar owned, I think that is the same 13 litre engine from DAF with excellent reputation grossing 44 tonnes on 6 axles. A few years ago I ran the older DAF 11.6 litre engines again grossing 44 tonnes and they all did over a million miles without overhaul before being sold to work on. It certainly is the same steering wheel as in DAF trucks. It amaźes me how you guys cope with the long wheelbase tractor units compared to our short 3 axle cab cabovers with single drive and two steer axles. Thank you very much indeed for most interesting video's.

nice looking truck Dan , and in the UK we run 280 mx13 paccar engine trucks and they use less adblue (DEF) than the benz engine trucks and i can't remember an engine fail , just keep on top of regular oil changes only the auto gear box issues so driving through a 13 speed should be good and that engines have so much torque at low revs,

The scuff's and stuff is not bad, and like my dad always said, the paint don't make it run any better, LOL... Was really a nice tour of the truck, I feel like part of your adventure. It's a great looking truck, you did a nice job buying it, and I wish you great luck with it, and hopefully I'll be riding along to keep tabs on how your treating our truck, LOL.. When outside, I had took a moment to admire that flat bed across the way with the two Ford F250s or 350's on it.

Few tips on emissions engines from a diesel mechanic that works on them everyday. Don't idle more than you absolutely have too, if you do idle, bump it up to 900-1100rpm while idling. Oil changes at 20k or less miles, also on the paccar engine do not run a metal oil spinner filter, use the paccar plastic spinner filter. Also everything on the aftertreatment system is cummins, yes they have paccar part numbers for everything but genuine cummins parts will fit the aftertreatment system, also dpf will need to be cleaned every 300k or less miles depending on idle time, etc. Also keep the coolant level right to the seam on the resorvoir or higher, doesn't take much to trip the coolant level sensor.
@simentalg7 жыл бұрын
Matthew Cox don't forget to add an oil analyzes seems like the coolant level is low on Cummins it means the egr is possibly leaking

Congratulations Dan on your new/used second home/business property. With a half million miles it looks like very clean ride. still has the long nose look with the right amount aerodynamics, nice chrome to white ratio, over all a very good looking truck. As for your concerns about the DEF emissions/motor and i believe you totally understand this, change happens hopefully for the good but not always," how,s the engine going to perform, is the emission going to be problematic", who knows? Every industry goes through changes and eventually we all have to roll with it other wise you'd be diving a coal powered steam engine rig on wagon wheels. lol. As a mechanic/former fleet manager i cant over state this to everybody maintenance, maintenance, maintenance. you wont believe how many problems stop prematurely showing up or don't rear there ugly head until late in the components life just by having a good maintenance regime. Again congratulations, enjoy home time and take it easy, but totally understand the " gotta get some down time work done to get back making a pay check". always great videos and hope to see you setting up new truck. Thanks~David~

Congrats Dan, great looking truck. Heard mix stuff about paccar. Hopefully it treats you well. Keep her shiny put some lug nut covers, visor and some 8 inch stacks. If not you can always paint your tanks white and leave the tanks straps polished. Save you time in polishing. You can always switch sides of the tanks setups but I'm not sure with paccar but with cummins you can always delete dpf/def setup and tune the engine and it will run better and last longer. Many have done it. Either way, enjoy it!

Nice rig ! Be sure to read the operator's manual supplement entitled Emissions. It is very detailed telling about DPF/SCR systems, regenerations.DEF fluids, etc. Both KW's I drove each had one.So does the Pete 579 I have now.

Remember always keep a jug of DEF in the truck just in case. It happened to me 1 time I thought I could make it to the truck stop and didn't make it, derated the truck. LOL. I like the PACCAR motor, I got an average of 7.8 with mine running coast to coast, It was a little slower on the hills but that was ok. Good luck and Nice truck.

I think you should swap the tank setup from side to side. That would put your def and small tank on the drivers side and the large tank and APU on hte Pax side. That will be some work but trying to deal with the def tank is going to be a never ending hassel. Good luck.

Honestly I really do hope the truck works out for ya but look at it this way, if the engine does decide to crap out on ya you can always go back with your proven Cat and drop it in there!!!. The shorter WB I'm not sure of but you can deal with anything that comes along in your fashion, its your baby now so anything that comes along I'm sure that you'll be able to handle any problems that pop up. Good luck again with your newer truck and best of luck on your endeavors. I do really enjoy your channel and hope we will see any and everything that happens on your adventures!!! Btw, I did notice that you have a remote lube staion and I'm sure that will make you much happier, no more crawling under the truck to lube it anymore lets hope!!

When regenerating that part of the exhaust will get up to 600 Degrees, this may discolour the chrome and it certainly uses more fuel during this process. I'm a truck driver from England, stumbled on your videos and I really like them. Driving in the US is a world away from driving in the UK. Keep up the good work.
