Grandpa Edgar is my favorite deck that I'm slowly foiling over the years. I recomend considering a 4-mana Kalitas and a bojuka bog against all the graveyard shennanigans your opponents might pull. Also a blasphemous act is an amazing boardwipe that can even deal with Animar (which is a real pain for any black heavy deck).

I bought 2 of the Edgar Markov precons when they were first released. I love playing vampire tribal before Edgar came out. But as soon as I saw the deck list I had to have them, 1 to keep based and the other to make as good as possible. I even bought the playmat that came out for the commander 2017 release. And then Ixalan came out and made it even more degenerate and I have been extremely happy ever since.

If you want to up the saltiness of the deck, grave pact or dictate or erebos would be a good addition. Can trigger it off sacing tokens, or you can be a little extra aggressive in combat and force opponets to choose between combat damage or losing a creature to trade for one of yours.

I'm really glad I got the precon for free when it was released. Just added some tutors and an arid messa to it yesterday. Definitely do have to cut some vamps that I really don't need. I got really lucky too getting some awesome land cards out of my own zendikar rising collectors box. Also there's something about the triomes that I just don't like so I don't run them at all. I have a lot of them though. Might change my mind on it.

Very similar to my Markov deck. Look like you opted for more offensive tactics where I opted for more aristocratic/life drain tactics (Purphoros, Warleader's Call, Teysa, couple more sacrifice outlets, etc). Not as many special editions/foils though so mine runs about $1k. If you haven't already, Cover of Darkness would be a phenomenal addition.

I've never used spelltable. Have you tried Magic Online? It's pretty darn good for playing and the community is nice enough!

Foil Aesi EDH would be sweet! Getting everything to be foil can be challenging on the wallet though. I had it in Animar for a little while early on before its current build. So many ways you can take that deck. And Yuriko too is such a great commander!

Instead of going for straight casing cost, I tend to look at abilities that skew toward jankiness or cards that synergize well together. If I end up with more high CMC cards, I then look for ways to play them easier which tends to be draw and ramp. Thanks for watching!

Very nice deck. I also run a decent Edgar deck. While mine is a little more heavy on removal than yours. Not exactly sure how high your mana curve is or how high you want to take it but there are really some back breaking cards you can put in on the cheap if you want to put a bit more power into it. I start with creatures. A couple that I can tell you put in quite a bit of work. 2 are a bit off tribe(1 shapeshifter with changling) First off is the total non tribe cards in Grey Merchant of Asphodel. I understand that it is off tribe and if you want all vamps its cool, but the value this will give you given that you will have a ton of black pips on board is huge. Second off is the shapeshifter, Mirror Entity. I have used his "x" ability quite a few times to boost up vampires in a pinch to great results and not something a lot of folks see coming. Lastly, Zagaras, thief of heartbeats. Flying, deathtouch and haste and gives all your creatures deathtouch, sign me up. Also has added benefit of any damage is dealt to a planeswalker its auto destroryed. I saw a bit of card draw, if I could suggest a couple more I would advise Deadly Dispute. Yes you sac a creature but what are your tokens for lol. It nets you two cards and a treasure token. Also with the life gain in this deck, while I wouldn't call it card draw, is Bolas's Citadel. With enough life and if you don't flip more than one land, you can have a very explosive turn. The last section i will just call the utility slot. All these cards have won me games with this deck. Mana value wise they are a bit on the higher end which might be why you don't have them in your deck., but well worth the casting costs. First off, Black Market. Creatures are going to be dying, so you will get a good amount of counters on it. Secondly, Patriarch's Bidding. If for some reason someone wipes the board and you are the only tribal deck, boom you are right back in the game. Lastly, and I think that this has led to more wins than anything in this deck for me, Ruinous Ultimatum. Yes, very expensive mana cost. Let me tell you though, not a lot of 1 sided board wipes in the game and this fits the bill. Out of all of these not many will cost you much at all. I think that I got Black Market for like $2, Bolas's citadel in foil for like $5, and a promo pack Ultimatum for like $2. Let me know what you think and sorry for the huge wall of text. Matt

Matt! Great feedback man! You put a lot of time and effort into your deck I can tell. Gary would definitely be a worth add but I would like to stay tribal so Zagras might be the better add. Deadly dispute too. I don't know why I didn't think to put that in until now! I've got Black Market and I think I had it in there in a very early build but seeing as how a lot of the deck revolves around sacking creatures, it should work well. And Patriarch's as well. I think I try to flood the board more than remove other peoples stuff in this deck though but still a good option! I really appreciate the thought you put into this. When I come back around to Edgar I'll see about shuffling things up to make it better!

I just started back in January of 2020 after taking a 19 year break. So now a goal I have is making a deck with a commander from Guilds of Ravnica forward using commanders that are seldom used. Could be fun

Thanks! I started out using a Canon Rebel SL3 with the kit lens but have more recently switched over to a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. The cameras are amazing and I highly recommend it if you're looking to upgrade phones. I swapped over from a Samsung S72 when Google Fi had a 50% deal on the S22 Ultra.

Really like your Edgar you have a few better lands then mine and I run the same infinite combo. Just like you I win like 60-70% of the time. I also run this white 5cmc enchantment ( I forget the name) but you put a +1+1 counter everytime a creature comes into play under your control. It goes nuts lol. The hardest tokes. I wasn't able to get much of were my coil serpent tokens for my Koma deck. They were hard to find. I saw the foil coil tokens were going for $20 I said yeah no I'll pass 😂.

An estimated 60-70% win rate in your playgroup means you are either way wayyyyyy of with your estimate or the rest of your playgroup has chosen to optimize toward loosing games without telling you. Given a 4 player pod, you are looking at a naiv expected win rate of 25%. The power difference would have to be truly staggering to hope to win 70% of games.

The last time I priced my treasure deck it was about 5000 bucks only counting the expensive stuff but if there is anything I have learned about mtg is that your decks price will change a lot based on reprints and availability also while those tokens are nice I would have opted for the first vampire token prints just as I have the first sliver token and zombie token as well as the elephant tokens nothing says expensive deck like a 50 buck zombie token lol

I absolutely love this deck! I copied it. OMG EVERYBODY HATES ME. The deck is scary powerful and Edgar seriously makes a literal army. It is awesome. I took out 1 card I believe it is the 1 card that will scry when you sacrifice a creature for a newer card from The Lost Caverns of Ixalan Commander and that is Charismatic Conqueror.

i’m new to magic, was a big yugioh guy, looking to get into it as my friends constantly talk about it. After doing some of my own research i’m between making an edgar and a kaalia deck. Part of me loves vampires and that nice dark theme but part of me wants to make it more diverse with angels, demons and dragons, this deck fun? don’t want to be winning like crazy as a new timer but I want to make sure i’m not bored either

@@Petrosmurf9 if you don’t want to be bored, then I don’t know why you’re trying to play commander maybe you should think about playing standard or something. The reason why I say that is because almost every command deck if it is not a really big CEDH then most turns take forever so I was playing in the pod and I have been telling people that I started it and by turn four I finished my turn and then my opponent untax any triggers and draws and all the triggers that is what it is that makes turns take forever are the triggers. I literally went to the bathroom and came back and I think it was about to be the third player and he was already starting to un tap and that sort I’m telling you almost every commander game it takes forever

When tokens die they do hit the graveyard which causes triggered abilities to trigger. After that happens they cease to exist.

When researching I found most of the cards you'd want to play in it are in the pre-con. I'd start there, take a look at upgrading any lands that come in tapped. This is the second video I’ve seen where someone says there Edgar Markov deck wins 60% of its games. Could someone explain this to me. I dont understand this. This is pretty obviously not a competitive deck. It’s not particularly close. So why do players let the deck win 60%? Why don’t they just make their decks better? I never played “casual commander” so maybe I am missing something. In fact I know I am. My friends and I started playing edh a couple years ago but we didn’t know about any kind of “casual commander format”, whatever that even means exactly. So we just always tried to build powerful decks that tried to beat each other by whatever means necessary. Eventually we set a budget limit (at first) to keep it from being a pay to win situation. Now we are a proxy friendly group. But why would people just intentionally let this deck win 60% of games? I don’t understand this. Why don’t they just build better decks? Wouldn’t that be more fun for everyone? If anyone is under the illusion that they can’t build a better deck on a budget, that’s the only thing I can think of?? It’s not even remotely close to true. This Edgar Markov list would not even be part of the game at our $150 budget nights. If anyone needs help beating an Edgar Markov deck on a budget just let me know. Selvala Kinnan Malcom Kediss Yuriko Codie Any of these decks could be built sub $200 in ways that would make these types of decks (like this Edgar Markov deck) not really even be a part of the pod. Lemme know, anyone, if you feel like you are up against a pay wall or someone has taken off in your meta and you think you can’t win the arms race. Maybe I should make a KZbin channel on exactly this subject. Post a comment to me and I’ll give you advice or just post one of my many sub $500 lists that threaten to win the game on turns 3-4 Or if you want a more midrange or control strategy I’m happy to help you w that too. I have a $150 Selvala list that wins very consistently turn 4 and a Codie list that I am working on that I’m sure can beat that 4 turn clock by maybe a full turn or at least it can be a turn 3.5 average at $150. There is zero reason to let someone w a non competitive list win 60% of games. Lemme know if you are in that situation. I’d love to help. 🖖namaste

Not sure really how to respond to this. Every play group is different and in my locality this deck wins relatively consistently. This is also because players in my area don't typically play turn 2 Kinnan or Magda decks, etc. Most of us play in the same general power level. And to be fair, this deck can be built much cheaper by not using bling cards. Regardless, I am proud of the deck I built, it is fun to play and when I let my friends use it they also agree. This whole mentality of "must win at all costs" is not something I share. But I'm glad you took the time to watch the video and share your thoughts.

Totally agree. This deck tended to be too strong so I don't play it as much right now. Just every once in a while when everyone wants to play higher power stuff. The reason I said it's not super optimized is because I do not consider myself a great deck builder. Everything works decently at first and then it takes me a few revisions before I can figure out the direction I want to go and tune it in. I'm more of a collector which tends to allow for bling versions of cards in decks. Take those out and the price falls a good bit. Still fun to build and try new things though!

@@CRGGames I was thinking the exact same thing. It's crazy what these decks end up being worth after a while. It's hard to explain to those outside the game. I wouldn't call it embarrassing. Just a reminder of where the deck came from. There is a guy in my play group who kept all of his cards in the original shoe box for old times sake.

A shoe box isn't too bad if I compare it to my buddy who, for about 6 months, would carry his decks around in a KFC bag. We poked so much fun at him until I eventually bought him an Ultra Pro deck bag to carry everything in.
