I built it and I like using Ad nauseam in the place of smallpox. With Teferi's protection you can look through your deck one card at a time without losing any life to find that key exquisite blood later in the game to really snag that victory. Love the deck tho!!

I find that Baron Bertram Greywater is a good addition to this deck since it doubles the token generation on the first summon

I really do enjoy decks playing pretty different every time. cEDH direction is about getting the same pieces, I'm not about that. Lol. Ya. It's been a wild few years. My advice is wear safety glasses even if you're just around tool operations. I got dinged being a bystander. Pretty much the same luck I have with booster packs. Lol. I couldn't watch tv. So started playing Marvel legendary with some buddies and one of them did the bait and switch and got me hooked on MTG. Lol. Now I don't have any lunch money. Lol.

@@GrimmTutelage The deck it's self is not CEDH but it's geared to keep up with food chain proshh kozzy krenko etc. It's an extremely aggressive deck that banks on constantly draining opponents. Extort, sacrifice drain 1 gain 1, gain drain vise versa and if all of that gets answered well then you have a board of overly buffed vampires to answer. Edit. It's earliest win is turn 5 Has won consistently on turn 6-7 Usually wins by 10 or kills someone. My favorite interaction was a stack trigger that caused 1 extort to drain 34 life from each opponent. I just love looking up other people's Edgar decks to see comparisons and unique ideas for my own. I recommend shizo, death's storehouse.

I think you have a ton of non-creature spells while you could have a swarmy deck tech with more bodies.. .. Just a thought... Have you ever tested this deck?

I'm not sure what you mean by tested? I play this in a group with 9players/45ish different deck in rotation and this is always a threat to win the game. IMO 31 creatures is plenty but that's the beauty of MTG being 100% customizable. I like to have more answers/spot removal in my group where boardwipes are constant. How many creatures do you run in your build?

@@GrimmTutelage Elixir of Immortality..Vampiric tutor..Avacyn...When you swarm you don't care about board wipes...until they care about your indestructibility..You play white..That means you have creatures for artifact/enchantment removals..You play Black...That means you have creatures for creature removals..You play white, that means you have creatures for board clears...You play black, that means the same...You play vampires..that means you have creatures for draw..You play 1/1 tokens,that means you have mentor of the meek .... you play white, that means you have creatures to ramp..you play black..that means that everything is swamp and every swamp gives you too much mana... you play vampires that means you could have funny interactions with shadow vampire to ramp... I just explained you how three of the basic mechanics of the game could be played only by creatures in this deck..

Not sure about your mana base. The deck is mostly black, with quite a few double black pip, and triple black, but your mana base has a lot of White and Red. Seems like you may get flooded in colors you can’t use. Anyway, enjoyed how you described your reasons for having each card in the deck. Glad it’s been working for you.

@@GrimmTutelage, a couple adds you may consider for card draw that I run are Professor Onyx and Hurl Through Hell. The Prof has a +1 ability that is card draw and with Hurl Through Hell, it isn’t exactly card draw, but you can exile your opponents best creature and then recast it on your side of the board. *Note that this doesn’t work for stealing their Commander since they can avoid exile and go right to the Command Zone. Anyway, the problem with this deck is that there are sooooo many options that it’s tough to decide what to cut.

I would maybe remove the small pox for the ozilith because you actually have a small sub theme of +1/+1 counters and the ozilith keeps those counters around even if the creature dies I just think that small pox is a good card if your running a discard deck but Edgar is more of a aggro beat you down with creatures then finish you off with some aristocrats stuff kinda deck

I really like this idea. Smallpox is a card I torture my friends with lol but it's definitely cut worthy. Gonna be doing a bunch of upgrades after Crimson Vow but the Ozolith will be one of them!

@@GrimmTutelage ya man I have a blinged out Edgar deck in paper and I added the ozilith and it has done serious wonders also a vampire you might want to add that’s pretty cheap right now is immersturm predator it works with the +1/+1 counters theme also it’s graveyard hate it’s a 3/3 flyer that grows and you can sac the 1/1 vampire that enters the battlefield from Edgar ability to make it indestructible for the turn that thing an get out of hand quickly and if someone does finally remove it it’s one less removal card you have to deal with your opponents

Nykthos really isnt that great in a 3 colour deck same with Vampire nocturnus as he tends to really only be active a third of the time. Also why smokestack? your hurting yourself just as much as your opponents yes you get tokens but even you cant create enough to eventually outpace the counters you put on it. plus its just a not nice card to play against in the first place. Also yes the bond/blood combo is "good" but you have no reliable way of pulling it off. and in an edgar deck you should just be swarming with vampires to win anyway. Personally you could cut quite a bit to add better vampire cards or other cards to your deck

Appreciate the insight. Nykthos isn't the best but has saved me many times in the event mana fixing isnt there or someone targets my only way of creating a color. Nocturnus is admittedly on the chopping block but still has won me games in the clutch. Smokestack is mean like my pod and I haven't had an issue with it yet since it's a may ability with the soot counters. There are way better ways to pull off the bond combo but it's not a deck oriented to combo winning it's just an availability. This deck has undergone upgrades since the video was made and is a homebrew that evolves with my playgroups 60+decks. It is not cEDH tuned and built for hanging with the table and still having fun. And with an Edgar deck as with any deck that *should* be the goal when hanging with your friends...Fun. I could put in my duals,more tutors and 5 or 6 ways to be unstoppable but I like the ready for anything setup thats going currently, and the fact that no one groans about repetitive stale games when I pull this one out. In my opinion EDH decks are never finished and are always evolving. I plan on making a "Repairs" series of the upgrades and changes after I finish my initial 15 or so Deck Wrecks as well so I'm stoked to see what goodies Crimson Vow gives us. For now I'm working on Atraxa....the deck I have the worst love/hate relationship with in my arsenal.
