Can you buy a fun, sports car for £1500? Well, we tried - and to see who chose the best car, we drove 700 miles, tested them for faults, took them on track and even got a bit stuck.
We decided on a maximum budget of £1500 for each car and anything left over could be spent on ‘upgrades’ along the way. I hate to sound smug, but I’ve definitely picked the quickest car, so let’s see what we bought.
Now you’ve seen the cars, let’s look at where we’re going. We’ll start out at the office, fill up with fuel along the way and then make our way to a retail park just outside Manchester to buy our mods. From there we’ll head up into the stunning Lake District, stop for lunch and then make the final stretch up to Knockhill. 374 miles in total.

I feel like the Audi was the most Hammond choice, the Mercedes was the most James May choice, and the Jag was the most Clarkson choice because V8 rear wheel drive Or the SLK is Clarkson and the Jag is May because captain slow with the spongiest suspension and heaviest car.

seeing the price for gas was eye opening. I am here in texas, where my local gas is about $4.50 per gallon (.986 pounds/litre if my calculation is right), so seeing you pay $146 on gas was quite surprising. For reference, 15.5 gallons (58.674 litres) of 93 octane costs me about $65 (53.96 pounds).
