Why didn't use glass instead? It's way better for this application 🙃 specially tempered glass

I like how you used the rusted steel rods rather than polishing them so the blend in with the color of the root system and do not stand out or take away from the view of the wood. The wood and metal base is a great feature and looks very nice. I think the acrylic top looks amazing also. Overall. stunning piece.

Fantastic table, but to me, the vertical steel rods are glaringly inappropriate. Sorry. They clash with the curvaceous base. Plexiglas at 1-1/2" thick is plenty strong enough for the vertical rods not to be necessary. Some straightforward bending strength calculations should have been done before deciding whether such rods were necessary. Good luck with your next one.

Always good to see young folks getting the woodworking design bug. Youth aren't stuck in the mud of experience, hence their ideas are always fresh, new and exciting, even if sometimes a learning experience with materials choices and placement. That experience will serve you well when you're an old schooler to some like me! Pass it on please. I hope you feel the same in 40-50 years. Great piece!

The piece looks great but the scratching in the acrylic could have been predicted. I think that the corners should have been softened a little so they wouldn’t be so sharp but probably couldn’t wrap the edges as you did. I can’t imagine why the restaurant spent so much on a unique special piece and used stock chairs with it that don’t do justice to the table. The chairs detract from the look.

Hate the steel pipes in the corners, why not use wood for that as well? Or better, leave them out! Give a masterpiece created by nature, give it to a millennial: they miss the industrial, polluting plastics and let's not forget the light polluting with LED. 🤦

I think the rusted stabilizing pipes on the corners should have been curved out instead of straight. the root ball has curves and twists. the stabilizing pipes should also been twisted and curved, just as nature. Could been done by a blacksmith or using a pipe bender.

I know it was probably not feasible to do but in a perfect world...I think the way you polished the root and the those dark colors came out would look beyond amazing on the whole thing, almost like you'd put some type of varnish on it. Again, that would have been hard but that color is undeniable insane. Like the other comments, I would have used tempered glass and no poles. The rectangle looks good but I also could see an oval or rounded ends. I get that you just moved it in and they threw those chairs there but I surely hope they eventually got some ornate Chinese chairs and good room decoration to pull it all together. With the root polished and similar colored chairs with reds and golds and ornate carvings would have elevated this table beyond belief. I applaud your work.
