I remember seeing a couple of attempts at this over here in New Zealand... one in the late 70’s and another in the early 90’s and they both went really well... they were 650cc pre-unit motors in the front, thunderbird I think... and the rear motor was a tiger 650 in one and a Daytona 650 in the other... they also tried to keep everything symmetrical so from the back or the front they looked standard but when you walked past it, it made you take a second look at it to make sure you weren’t dreaming what you were seeing... and like I said they went really well on the road and down the strip... the one I saw on the meremere champion dragway was eating the big block Harley’s... I remember it like it was yesterday man... those were the days!... around the same time one of the clubs was talking about putting 3 triple trident motors together in a drag framed bike... I’m not sure if it eventuated but that would have been a site to see not to mention the howl it would have made.... T150’s and T160’s still ruled the roads over here right up through to the late 1990’s... 1000 Hyde Kits, Carrillo Rods,S.T.D. Pistons, 3/4 Race Cams,Dellorto Carbs,Black Diamond Valves,Hardened Collars and Seats,Ported and Flowed Heads,Polished Rocker Arms lightened,Mushroomed Hyde Tappet Adjusters, Alloy Barrell Nuts lightened, all screws changed out to Galvinised Allen Keys, Akront Rims,Stainless Spokes,Avon Super Venom Tyres, and a few other bits n pieces....Everything polished by hand, and a sweet rolled 3 into 1 4mm steel exhaust for that extra deep screaming howl... man we had fun building those bikes back then!... 15k plus to build back then... a lot of money but worth every cent .... just to stay in front of the big block Harley’s and have bragging rights!.... rewind the clock maaaan!

Beautiful Bike ! I vvas really suprised that it only vveighed a little over 420 lbs & had 2 Engines ! Lighter than a Sportster ! A bike like this could be alot of fun @ Bonneville & I hope you get the chance to take it there sometime . TY for posting .

Gorgeous! The proportions though hardly sort and spikey still look good. The engineering looks simply excellent, the cases on the left hand side are lovely. It is probably a joy to ride after any H-D: less weight and lots more grunt. Thank you for showing us.

Absolutely love this build. Anyone who thinks that this guy could have just bought a larger bike totally misses point - why have a boring bike that looks like everything else on the road? This thing will demand attention (and a fair amount of envy) wherever it goes. Bravo!!

The extra engine surprisingly takes up less room than thought. 475 lbs. for 1500 cc's stands unheard-of-ling amazing. The wheelbase & framework length, seems to be nearly the same as a stock Bonnie, even with the extended rake. Well done in all aspects... especially given the year it was accomplished. Admiration galore Nick, from an old Texas boy whose straddled a 68 Trophy Sports since i bought it 2nd hand for a $ a cc while stationed in the 82nd back in 72. Had it restored by Big D cycle in time for my 60th circuit round the Sun in 2012. They were whittlin on a Brough, a Vincent, The Sam Wheeler Norton Restoration, and by Goshen, an Ariel Square as well. Great people ever one... reckon one might say.... kinda 1st, & 2nd Generation Inheritors of Jack Wilson's knowledge. Was a blessin to have em fulfill my dream of ridin till for whatever reason i might have to cease. Thank's to all involved's ears, for mine shore welcomed what y'all had to say. -gilpin 3-4-16

I am impressed, I spent a big part of my youth riding these 60s British bikes, they were light nimble & went around corners, they had a great note as well. the A65 BSA were pure fun, I always thought the motor looked like footballs the Triumph twin engine looked lots better, my pick was the 750 Commando the BSA & Trident were great but to me didn't seem as strong down low.. I became fanatical with tuning to the point of obsession, I could get the best out of these bikes. one of the best Triumph 650s I had was a 69 TR6P down here in NSW Australia the P was a factory cop model this was the last year in 70 they started using jap.. Sorry I mean Japanese I'm afraid I could go on an bore everyone shitless, they sure where fun days, where did they go...

In 1968 a guy called Gordon Farley from Rutherglen in Scotland built a triumph 1000cc special I think it was two 500cc tiger engines that were used in the construction either Victor Divine or Micky Oats motor cycle agency in Glasgow M.O.T. the machine so that it was road legal the only comment I can make regarding it’s performance was that the big cc Japanese bikes that were ruling the roads lost their crown for a while. I asked him why and what made him build the bloody thing just to see if I could was his reply. Great guy & Great times. Regards Denis Flynn

Very nice welding work on the two primaries. Not a bad output for a n/a carbureted engine. A 1300cc KTM with state of the art pressurised fuel injection only puts out 40hp more.

Beautiful job; some of these twin engined bikes can really look like something made in a back street garage but this one looks almost as elegant as the original and certainly has huge visual impact; front down tube my only reservation. Curious about the transmission though- is it running two triplex primary's to the single Triumph clutch and transmission? What about firing interval? Brilliant job though, well done!

+SW20AE86 not the only one.. it was a really common thing to do at the time, though most twin or even triple engine bikes were either drag or dry lake bikes. You should see the twin engine twin supercharged Vincent

Two engines and one transmission...well done. How is the lower centre of gravity affected by the extra weight as you lean it through the tight turns? My 70 bonny was very nibble with one engine and one transmission....ha

Hi Nick, Pretty amazing bike! Question, how did you deal with synchronizing the two engines in terms of crank rotation. Do they hit top dead center together? Or do you have some number of degrees of separation between the two cranks? How about the vibration? With two engines, is one set to 'counter-balance' the other to reduce the vibrations? I think 180 degrees difference would do that, assuming the cranks are stock 360 deg types. Thanks again, cool video!

Triumph needed to add electric starters to they're 1970's model line, just to be part of the times,Triumph twins are easy to start, but very few Asian bikes from the seventies were kick start only, the Kawasaki two strokes being a exception.Electric starts were viewed as heavy and unnessasary and detracted from the bikes performance, but were also viewed as modern and convenient .

I like when people mash together two engines, but I don't think the gain would make it anywhere near as good as an actual 4cyl with the same displacement. Anyway good job on actually making it, plus the engine looks solid... for a triumph..

What a waste of two good Bonneville Triumphs, typical overweight American outlook on Engineering elegance. I'll bet that if I had a single engined Triumph Bonneville, I could reach my destination quicker than this ugly hybrid, and just remember a guy named Malcolm Uphill, completed the first ever 100 miles an hour lap speed on the Isle of Man TT circuit with a standard 650cc. Triumph pushrod engine, a first never to be forgotten.

I'd guess that extended frame flexes quite a bit and the long wheelbase, while giving straight-line stability, must be reluctant to turn in. Overall, it seems like something to do because you can, not because it's good.
