Reenactments are a great way to get the young people of our country into history . This is true to living history projects also

Great background using the historical buildings. The only anachronisms I could discern are the 6in AASHTO and ADA compliant curbs, bituminous asphalt pavement, and standard USDOT MUTCD striping and markings

Check out the Wikipedia page on the Battle of Fredericksburg. As TheHIV123 said the Federals captured the city of Fredericksburg, but in the main battle they were badly beaten by the Confederates.

There are typically several battles- and in this case it looked like it was a roving battle that took place in several locations, so the dead are free to rise again and rejoin ranks once the spectators have stopped looking.

If you look at the front of the Irish Brigade where the flag is, then look to the side and see the first drummer and then the fifer, I was the third drummer in that group. 10 years and a lifetime ago

Well the Union did push the rebels out of the city of Fredericksburg by about December 12th, and the main assault on Lee's positions didn't start till the 13th. So how is this inaccurate?

Why so much firing into the sky?
@kersey27348 жыл бұрын
DJSbros It's for safety, the powder is dangerous if it touches your body
@andrewp82847 жыл бұрын
At the civil war reenactment I go to they seem to be further away from each other, and they don't seem to fire into the sky, so I assume that its something with the safety being so close in the video.
@Masterwongsdeciple247 жыл бұрын
As an re-enactor we have safety guide lines which prohibit us from aiming directly at anyone. Some times the powder clumps up and solidify its self and becomes a projectile. we have had mishaps due to this issue. There are some people who do aim directly at someone and we try to address the issue.

Yes, yes it was. The right that the states desired was that of slavery. Just look at the various state secession convention documents, nearly all of them mention slavery in the first paragraph, and a few even the first sentence. At its root the war was mostly about tensions between the North and South over slavery.

Lie to yourself and others further. History is known to be written by the winners. And often, they shamelessly lie about the reasons for the war.
@vincenzoriccardogusberti87482 жыл бұрын
@@codesword2598 Not, just for them, both common farmer or big planter, end of slavery was equivalent to a complete economical ruin.In fact Southern States was destroyed by this and have to completely being reshaped. I personally found much more morally damnable the racial segregation and the Crow's Laws than happened in such successive period than defence of slavery as this was something that stemmed directly from racism and just exacerbated it.
@sugaashow2 жыл бұрын
Slavery would’ve been dead in the south in another decade if that war was never fought. This war was about states rights vs that of the federal government.
@sugaashow2 жыл бұрын
@@vincenzoriccardogusberti8748 stop lying. all slavery did was stifle free enterprise. the economy literally boomed when slavery was killed, north and south.

@@codesword2598 lol, irony so thick you could cut it with a knife.
@TheHIV12311 жыл бұрын
Perhaps they were, but the reason the southern states seceded in the first place was so that they could continue to exercise their "right" to hold people in bondage. Additionally, while the average soldier often didn't own slaves, they frequently came from families that did, or their livelihood was based upon using slaves in some capacity. Therefore they had every bit as much reason to protect the institution of slavery as the rich did.
@vincenzoriccardogusberti87482 жыл бұрын
Yes, in a certain way they were perfectly aware of what they fought for, much more than unionist. Fact that this was in the end defending an enormous injustice is something we could say "ex post" but for them end of slavery was just an equivalent of economical ruin, both personal than collective.
@TheHIV1232 жыл бұрын
@@vincenzoriccardogusberti8748 Sure, slavery was absolutely critical to the southern economy and way of life. Obviously at the time they saw the attacks on slavery as a great injustice inflicted upon them. While I acknowledge that from their perspective those things might be true, and perhaps if I had been in their shoes I maybe have felt the same, I don’t think we are today committing any injustice by recognizing that their caused sucked and was horrible and the world is a better place that they lost.
