Why do the police have to formally declare that the protesters are part of a riot and/or should leave the area, when it is clearly visible that the building is cordoned off, smoke petards are being released into the demonstration and injured people are being carried away? Why stay there when this is happening? The escalation, no matter from which side, is clearly evident at this point. So I leave the area and not only protect myself but am also part of the de-escalation.

1.) The premise why they stormed the Capitol was false and since they lost 60 court cases, recounts didn't change the results, one had to be willfully blind. The mere attendance was a statement against the peaceful transfer of power. 2.) "Stop the Steal" is an affirmative claim, and they marched on the Capitol with the expressed goal to do just that. This see point one has them joining the insurrection and as such felony murder even applies. They are lucky that most weren't charged with conspiracy despite their expressed intent in the title of the rally and chants, including a lynching of the VP. This was not like any protest. "Hang Mike Pence!" at that moment was meant literally. They were instrumentalized in a self-coup attempt by Trump and his co-conspirators. 3.) It was declared a riot and officers used F-ing pepper spray, so yes there was an effort to disperse the crowd and only because you didn't hear a request to retreat, doesn't mean those weren't issued. 4.) Ashly Babbit was warned no to proceed. The crowd size was in itself a threat. In this situation, it didn't matter who in the MAGA insurrection did and didn't carry a weapon. Hence, shot in defense of others. The crowd size and disproportion mattered, ergo those "peaceful strollers" moving to the scene still matter in their function as threat to Capitol Hill.

What about The President of the United States? Should he or she be held to a higher standard? What if those rioters were black instead of white? How many do you think would have made it to the stairs? The responsibility of any journalist or wanna be journalist, regardless of what is being reported on, is to report on a story/event/activity, not report selective subsections to suit the preconceived narrative, nor to become part of the story. Your failure to remain neutral show investigative journalism is not an appropriate career for you. Maybe you could write fictional storybooks for employment.

No journalist reports on *everything* that happens at an event - too much happens to not be selective in what they cover. Good journalists use wisdom to select what will be most instructive and pertinent to their viewers.

4:20, How did the police fail? You have to look at who was attacking the building. If Antifa or BLM had been attacking it would not have gotten as far as it did. They would have never gotten into the building.

Davis was fool. He had a train load of gold, could not feed his troops. He took up for his friends when it was in the worst interest of the Confederate Government and CSA Army. The biggest problem I have with the surrenders were that the confederate troop should not have been able to hold elected offices after the war. In short loss their citizenship of the USA. As for the political enemies, I think we could use a good lesson from that today. Using the DOJ against your enemies. I think it is a shame. That said, I do not think Jefferson would have been convicted, the Union may have lost in court what it had just won in a war. It would have made the war so hollow.

I appreciate the work you did on this, and just my opinion, but i think you should consider having someone do a voice-over for you. Its not your fault, but its very difficult for some to listen to with the vocal fry+lisp+nasal tone. Im not trying to be mean as my voice is also very nasally! Just saying, i had to leave the video very shortly after starting it, even though im very interested in it and it seems very well compiled.

The police are scarred for life. Some took their own lives because of the trauma from that day. They did not fail. They were outnumbered. Trump could have stopped this before it started. He called them there and further sent them there. He put nonsense conspiracy theories in their heads and kept making them believe their country was under attack. It was not under attack by anyone but them. Our country is not safe with him in office. He does not even care about his own followers.

Did this event a number of years ago as a federal soldier. It was odd marching up a modern street. The real wall is surrounded by a housing complex, so the event made a fake stone wall (the real one is fairly close by though). It was a literal slaughter.
@DiscerningHistory
@DiscerningHistory Ай бұрын
That's neat. Another issue with the original stone wall is that it's on NPS property which doesn't allow battle reenactments.

It does seem self destructive with modern eyes. But the weapons of the time in the hand of an average soldier were still very inaccurate. There are examples of guerilla warfare in the Civil War, but large armies and massed attacks were the best way to take and hold ground.
