The puritans were the world's serial whiners and biggest hypocrites. They argued for purification, what that meant is expelling all english catholics, which King James wasnt willing to do to his own citizens. The puritans mailigned everything not hammered on their anvil. The instantly caused civil unrest in The Netherlands, openly debating people in public, and sowing sedition against the ruling body. Which then sent them packing. They also heavily persecuted the quakers, and other groups executing many people not aligned with their messed up worldview. While the Crown sanctioned Jamestown (Anglican) at least tried to reach peace with an inherently aggressive Powhatan Confederacy of Tribes (ocasionally retaliating to defend themselves); the elitist puritans ruthlessly wiped out an initially peaceful tribe! whos more Christian here? The Anglicans in America during 1590-1622 were ironically less ruthless than the "religious freedom seekers". Yet the Anglicans did indeed become aggressive after decades of unprovoked aggression from specifically the Powhatan natives, and repeated massacres. I understand that doesnt excuse later purges, however lets have some perspective on the real history of the Puritans. Not the fabricated white-washed revisionism that Calvinists want us to swallow.
@nothingelse152017 күн бұрын
5:54 ironic that in America in 2024 some people think its anti-religion to have a separation of church and state. Like you really want the government to be involved in forcing religion on people and at the same time claim to be about "freedom" lol

Jan 6th was orchestrated by Ray Epps and others much thanks to the rhetoric of DNC. After all, who benefited the most from it? Certainly not President Trump, who himself had requested National Guard troops DAYS before, who publicly urged protesters both before, during, and after the riot to remain peaceful. No, it was people like Pelosi, AOC, Harris, (...) who stood the most to gain.

Yes, Pennsylvania is a free state: Abolition of slavery In 1780, Pennsylvania became the first state to pass a law to abolish slavery. The Act for the Gradual Abolition of Slavery made it illegal to import enslaved people into the state, and required slaveholders to register the names of the people they enslaved. Children born in Pennsylvania were also declared free, regardless of their parents' race or condition. End of slavery In 1847, Pennsylvania's state legislature passed a law that ended slavery in the state. This law did not recognize the property rights of slaveholders, and freed the state's remaining enslaved people, which numbered fewer than 100. Thank you. Well done. I was wrong about my understanding of j6. Two factors were responsible for this fiasco. First, the Trump rioters who did not respect the police and acted in opposition to what they should have known was the will of the police, who had the authority to defend the Capital. The number of those rioters is much larger than I thought. Possibly into the hundreds. I think the sentences were fair in the cases that were mentioned, except in the case of the horned guy. Secondly, Pelosi. Her responsibility for this disaster is primary. She was either unbelievably incompetent or had unscrupulous political motives in her decision to leave the Capital essentially unguarded. If the Capital had been guarded as it was against the BLM protestors, the whole thing would have been avoided. So, the Trump rioters and Pelosi are both to blame.

I don't think there is any contradiction between God's sovereignty, foreknowledge, election and predestination with human freedom of choice. It does not have to be either / or, but it can be both. For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that WHOSOEVER believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16). And for whom he (God) foreknew, he also predestined to become confirmed to the image of his son, so that he would be the firstborn among many brethren; and these whom he predestined, he also called; and these whom he called, he also justified; and these whom he justified, he also glorified. Free will and predestination are both taught in the new testament.
@DiscerningHistoryАй бұрын
Yes, Calvinists believe in free will. But we also believe that men are naturally in bondage to sin, and require God to act before we would ever choose him. See, for example, the 2nd London Baptist Confession, Chapter 9: Of Free Will.
@JK-tr2mtАй бұрын
@@DiscerningHistory Thanks for clarifying. So do Calvinists say it is 100% God's sovereign election/predestination; but what % is human's free will, would you say?

How can he say he the mob was unarmed? Just in it self, a mob is no where near an individual. It’s more like a giant formidable force who pays no mind to the rule of law but only to brute force beyond the strength of an individual law enforcement or a weapon of self defense. This is an invasion of a home that needs to be protected in order to protect the lives of others in the house who are vulnerable to the treat imposed but the shear numbers of unruly strenght.
@DiscerningHistoryАй бұрын
Sure, a mob is more dangerous than a single individual. But an armed mob, where everyone is carrying a rifle,, is very different than a mob carrying clubs, which is very different from a mob carrying nothing in their hands. Which do you see in the footage from January 6th?
