I'd say a mobile phone shop for a quick buck, this is now the 2nd one I've seen in the exact same state, just posted a comment above about it.

I like to read colleagues' comments but today I read them before watching the video. Doing that took away the suspense and excitement. However, I was surprised that the small USB Port Tester module did not indicate any readings but the most incredible thing was seeing the amount of thermal putty and the surprising "mix" of liquid metal with thermal paste, lol. Excellent work on your part sir. Thank you very much for sharing. All the best. PS: I still remember, one of my technicians reported to me that on the components mounted on the metal heatsinks on an SMPS for PC Desk board there was a strange (yellowish) substance to dissipate heat. We couldn't identify it, intrigued, we went to the chemist from the nearby pharmacy who told us that it was a mixture of Vaseline and eye ointment.

I am a mechanic for a living and it's always interesting to see what people do to hack something together and assume it'll work. Just fixing it the right way to begin with is ultimately the easiest method but who knows what goes through these people's minds. Another great video

Sometimes though Bush Engineering actually works, like the type they do over in the Far East. e.g cable ties or jubilee clips holding up an exhaust actually work lol.

I was amazed that the previous "repairer" had managed to remove the port and not damage those tiny pads! When you first showed the board I thought that you had been "stitched up like a kipper" as they say. Great repair though. Thumbs up from me.

Must‘ve been a sales rep for thermal paste who was in there before… miraculously, the port/pad damage was actually very minor. At least they knew when to call it quits. Nice work, as always!!

Yup. Ive had to deal with one like that. They cut the port legs because they can get the pins free. But not the anchors. The. Realize they cant get the board hot enough to wick holes. So the drill comes out

Well, that was interesting. Luckily, no ripped pads/traces, and only one missing component. How many pounds of cake frosting, I mean thermal compound, were on there? Another Great Repair and Video! Thank You.

I can 100% guarantee a random mall shop did this crap. I actually saw one with thermal compound on the APU, thankfully nowhere else, was still a pain in the ass to clean.

Same as what David aka Computer Booter had, Thermal Compound all over on the RAM, and mixed in with the liquid metal lol, it's hilarious now to see yet another repair in the exact same way, looks like a mobile phone shop tried to repair it for a quick buck or someone who tried to DIY it who had no clue whatsoever. Lesson learned when it comes to these repair malarkeys, let the experts do it like ToltecMerc, Booter, ACE etc otherwise this is what happens and then it ends up being salvaged or as e-waste.

Hello, I would like to ask a question about ps5 repair. Even if I remove IC DA9081 from the PCB and remove the capacitor around it, IC 13-pin and 27-pin ground shorts occur. Request for help.

Took the Playstation and made it Pastestation 🤣🤣 Nice save though. Thankfully the anchor points weren't thay badly damaged. Phew. But more work on cleaning the thermal paste off though. I see a PS5 slim at the end, would that be the next fix?😂

Somebody definitely didn't know what they were doing they obviously didn't use flux. And obviously didn't know that that would overheat with thermal compound.
