Buff is usually used as a weathering coat for scale armor. I usually see armor builders use as the final coat - ultra thinning them and spraying them to make the model look like it when through a dusty/sandy environment. But yeah, you can also use it as your normal color :)

Hey Zaku, I suggest, since you separated the flap on the backs of the calves, to include a joint or angled part to partially kick open the flap backwards, since as you saw on the 1/100-scale version, there is supposed to be a thruster hidden behind there! Could be a great "detail-up" opportunity! EDIT: Also, I think your plan for the greenish-tan frame color is going to look awesome!!! I'd recently fallen in love with shades of deck tan, tan, and khaki since painting my Geirail Scharfrichter, so it really has a nice militaristic appeal!

I'm new to Gunpla. Is lacquer paint what's frequently used around the community for airbrushing? Tried laquer aerosol cans on a momokapool and turned out great. Tried acrylic airbrush on an origin zaku and it was okay but the paint came up way too easily. Any recommendations?

If I recall, you're using a ghetto/home-made spray booth. If you haven't done so, you may want to consider cleaning it out as the fan tends to collect a lot of dust (from paint and otherwise). (Make sure you use a respirator when doing so.) You don't want it to turn into a fire hazard. EDIT: Also, those lacquers are pretty nasty for your skin. I know it makes life more awkward when working, but please consider a nitrile glove.

So are these a Lacquer paint... like GSI Creos Mr. Color? Or are they an acrylic... like Tamiya Acrylic Paint? Is the AK thinner alcohol based, like Tamiya X-20A? Or is it like Gaianotes and Mr. Color Leveling lacquer thinners?

Yeah, I looked at it and it (like many manufacturers) is not very specific. It seems they're more like the Tamiya Acrylic paints... alcohol based and they say they can be thinned with water. They probably don't have a strong lacquer smell like Mr. Color or Gaianotes paints have.

Acrylic paint that has had solvents added to help it behave more like lacquer... So it's a synthetic lacquer and should be treated as a lacquer paint

Yes and no. Airbrushing gives you a really smooth coat and allows you to do some interesting effects. But there are still effects that's can only be achieved with brush, and I don't mean just weathering

I just got into Gumdam and can't use an airbrush in my apt. I'm starting to dry brush an inner frame and am getting really smooth results. This looks great for metallic finishes but I probably wouldn't want to repaint an entire kit by hand.
