I can confirm that I've been using Solidworks professionally for 4-8 hours daily for around a year. I use as many keyboard shortcuts and hotkeys as possible, which speeds things up tremendously. Watching some of my older coworkers use Solidworks is almost excruciating because I'm not sure they know more than 3 or 4 hotkeys. Digging through menus and submenus for UI elements takes so much longer; it turns a 4-hour drawing into a 6-hour drawing.

@Zarosian_Ice11 ай бұрын
@@nothanks1508 it really isn't x'D That being said, when i first got into blender and was forced to use 2.78 i got extremely confused by an overwhelming amount of dots (vertices). The key is understanding what you're looking at, followed by time = experience. The thing that made me understand blender instantly (i was lucky enough to have blender 2.8 release like a few days after getting into it) was understanding what polygons were, in terms of blender for who ever doesn't understand them, 1 vertex can be extruded to make 2 vertices, they're connected by an edge, when you extrude that edge you'll end up with your face, your face being your polygon, theres more that goes into it, but keeping it light that's all you need to know. Also, knowing the keybinds is kinda crucial for workflow and speed.
@yoyobeerman128910 ай бұрын
@@skellious Having used both (but definitely more Parametric than Geometric) I can confirm that Parametric modeling is way more intuitive if you have some sort of mechanical, fabrication, or manufacturing background. I remember a good way to learn was the available tutorials, making flowers and other corny objects wasn't exactly the thing you wanted to do, but each tutorial taught you a useful technique that you later could use on your own objects that you wanted to do. I remember I could watch an object in real life and go through it in my head how to re-create every section of it in 3d, and when I later did it on the computer it was like I already had everything laid out for me., so cool, but I gave up on 3d later on.

I think the issue is maya isn’t nearly as accessible to everyone. It’s a fairly strong industry tool but it’s also the least accessible to get and understand sometimes(I used it at uni and wanted to never open it again XD)

Cool Challenge! Can't wait for 3 Hours vs. 3 Years of Animation! (You have to animate the Glock they made firing and reloading)

who else thought it was going to be showing a glock made in 3 hours vs a glock made over the span of 3 years in blender?

The fact that the pro is literally not using blender and nobody noticed is hilarious to me.

I've tried using Blender before and I couldn't get crap done. Then I started playing around with Autodesk 123D design after my company got a 3D printer and within a few days I'd purchased the same 3D printer and was working on a hand guard extension for 1 of my airsoft guns, which I made in several steps. At first I printed a section of picatinny rail on the bottom of a rectangular extension with its rear end shaped to fit the front end of the gun, which turned out to fit perfectly on the first try. then I designed and printed a prototype of the whole thing, which also fit on the gun perfectly on the first try, after which I finally printed the actual hand guard with all the final features and installed it on the gun, and who would've thought, despite having printed it upright front to back it turned out to be incredibly durable and the layer lines gave it some additional grip and somehow added to the overall look. So far I've only printed a few dozen things designed in 123D design, but it's incredibly easy to use and so far I would defo recommend it as an alternative to Blender, and an entirely free one at that!
