The difference between a sharp knife and a dull knife is like having two different knives. One does what it is supposed to do and the other one barely acts like a knife. #eseeizula

I just wish a sharp knife meant a happy wife 😆. Thanks for the share, William.

Yes happiness is a sharp knife. Most of me favorite knife brands come with very sharp blades 😃 so no need to sharpen. After a while of use I give them a quick touch up. 👍🐾🐈‍⬛👏

Cold Steel is pretty good at giving you a sharp knife right out of the box. Even Rough Ryder's come fairly sharp most of the time.

dull knives are very dangerous especially in the kitchen. first thing a chef learns is to keep his knife sharp. i’m speaking from my won experience

Yup, I'm one of those people who sharpens a knife right out of the box. But there are certain brands that I will run the factory edge first. Buck, Cold Steel, and Spyderco come to mind. Great video, buddy!

New knives of any brand brand may have an edge that is not up to the sharpness of its full potential. However, it only takes almost no time to correct it if you understand what it requires to correct it. I learned from personal experiences that often you are the one that causes making it even less sharp intending to fix it. Even if the apex of the blade grind is not perfect, it is easily corrected, with a few careful sharpening strokes of a medium grit ceramic rod. You will remove the least amount of blade steel and reduce the work making the blade sharp. Any knife will dull simply over time not being used because the edge will relax and becomes misaligned. Of course, some steel edges due to hardness and steel type do this far less than others types will. Old fashion Barbers would always strop their razors for every shaving they do to insure the edge was shaving sharp. Chefs and Butchers often straighten the edge of their knives prior to use daily and during the day when the edge becomes misaligned. They are not removing any steel from the edge, just straightening the edge. 🐯👍🤔

@gizmocarr3093 Yes, often a knife can be fixed by stropping or a ceramic rod. I have screwed up knives trying to make them sharper. Live and learn.

Good points, I think regular edge maintenance, rather than doing a full sharpening all the time, is a great tip for keeping our blades in working order.

Unless it is really sharp out of the box, I immediately sharpen a new knife on my stones. For kitchen knives, and for convex edges, I use the Ken Onion belt sharpener. I think that Izula could use a short grip extending lanyard. Get that fourth finger more in the game. Now that I think about it, though, you don't really use lanyards much, do you? Not even on your choppers? How about a lanyard talk episode?

@morte2195 I do use lanyards on some knives like my Spyderco Sage 5. I mostly use them as something to help me find and pull a knife from my pocket. For really small knives, a lanyard can add extra griping area for your fingers.

It is almost an obsession with me to have a sharp knife. It doesn't have to be hair cutting sharp unless it's a razor.
