Thank you, these last 2 videos were very helpful. I think, your more like the average boater as far as repairs on a boat goes, so it gives me a better idea of yearly cost. Most videos like this only cover the cost of parts, because they have the knowledge to do the work themselves. I'm pushing 60, so I won't be doing a lot of the labor ... lol Have a Great Life and Stay Safe ‼️⚓⚓⚓

Great Show! Medi Share plans are NOT health insurance however. If they don't pay, you don't have legal recourse. These "shared" systems are known to refuse expensive care, such as critical illness, cancer, expensive orthopedic surgery, etc. The older you are, the more likely those issues occur. If you have assets, it probably is not be worth the risk. I think a high deductible HSA plan from a big insurance carrier would be wiser.

@@stevieKtube Thanks so much for your offer to assist. Hopefully we can meet out on the water someday! The Leopard 40 is a GREAT boat and plenty are now coming off of charter, unlike when we were looking and they seem to be relatively well priced for this market. When we were shopping, most were more expensive as a result of being for sale from private owners; otherwise, we may have bought one already. As a result of next generation design and materials, it actually has similar interior space to our L44. The best thing is to tour them all in person as well as watch a bunch of videos. @SailingBlownAway3 жыл бұрын
🤣🤣🤣🤣 Good question. We knew we were leaving the US for quite a while for the Bahamas and onward where groceries are 2 x 3 x the price so we LOADED up at Costco because spending actually means saving. Bottom line is that we probably have 1.5 years worth of food currently on our boat so we just fill in with the freshies. Do you currently have a boat or are you looking?

Don't know if you covered this or not but was your cat damaged during Irma? If not, have you spoken with other cruisers who may have purchased a Moorings boat that is damaged and what their experience was?

Thanks for asking. Our boat was not hurricane damaged. Since our plan is to circumnavigate, we wanted a non damaged boat. Insurance for $5,500?????!?!?!??!? Ours is $500 (£340) and covers us for all the Atlantic seaboard from Spain to Denmark, £1m accident liabilty and £3m "sink in the slip" recovery (a form of salvage)
@SailingBlownAway3 жыл бұрын
Wow. That’s incredible. How do you get it so cheap? I have not met anyone with it that cheap unless it was just liability!!! You are lucky!
@SailingYachtSaltyLass3 жыл бұрын
@@SailingBlownAway - perhaps UK insurance is a different beast. Ours is a fully comprehensive policy. Marinas here will not accept you with anything less than £3m salvage. Our anchor bumped some marina equipment last year and the No-Claim Protection clause covered it. We never even got any paperwork.
@SailingBlownAway3 жыл бұрын
Wow. Must be different. Insurance here is on average 1.5-2.% of boat value. It’s insane. Maybe because if hurricane damage? So many payouts. All we have to show for a marina is liability. I am so happy that the insurance is reasonable for you! That’s great!!
