I concur. Well done indeed. For those interested in a trip down memory lane: the last time this was played in the 70's (at least in the US) was during the Songs from the Wood tour - half of it was played during the first encore, which was Wind Up (Martin began that first encore with a jam of Bach's Double Violin Concerto), and the second half was played at the end of the second encore, which began with Locomotive Breath. And for Stewart: that show was three hours, so the tightness of the band was really tested! They were the only band that performed at the various venues on the that tour (should have been the live album, with a three record set), oh, and they passed the test, what a show! -Arnold Stirrup opened the show with Wond'ring Aloud.

War Child was the only 8track I had in my mom’s station wagon. I listened to that tape a thousand times and never wished to have anything else to listen to. Until I got the cash for Songs from the wood

This is pretty easily my top Ian Anderson lyric/ vocal performance. The melody and execution are flawless. The music takes a little more work to fully appreciate but it is fun to try to understand those drop offs. Excellent job sir!

Ha! Silly sod I, thinking you wouldn't be including Martin's soloing! Yet another brilliant arrangement for the acoustic with great playing and vocals. Well done. Thanks! (Of course I heard "heh-1 2 3 2 2 3" in my head at the end. 😁 Cheers

You looked like you really enjoyed that, Stewart. I remember hearing this at the end of those concerts on cassette and wondered where it came from and how brilliant it was. I had to be careful driving while listening (or the other way around). It's one thing that Anderson is a genius for coming up with this, but it shows how much of a genius you are for being able to replicate it so well and all by yourself. Another masterpiece. After 155 songs I still marvel how you are able to do it. Major brain power. You have no limitations.

“MIND THE GAP” as they say over there, right? You must tell us all where your hidden inner metronome is hiding, because you seem to never miss those missing beats. 😂. As she winked her eye. Brilliant as usual, I just love watching your fingers run over that fretboard and nice black and white attire today as well. Cheers!

HI Stewart, I love War Child but it became a tired old Tull album in the collection to me at one point but you really brought this back to life for me. Believe it or not my very first favorite Tull song (it was 1975) was The Third Hoorah. I was 14 and hooked. Then came Aqualung and the rest is history. Thanks for all your recordings. Brilliant!

Yes this was played when Tull toured New Zealand back in 1975, it was an unusual song to watch being performed as Warchild album was just being released Oh as always you do a great cover. Thinking of the concert it was the weird electronic sounds of some keyboard that was unusual to my ears back then

Why do the faithful have such a will to believe in something? And call it a name they choose, having chosen nothing? Or as Dennis Landau posited in LITP Magazine about 25 years back are Ian's lyrics in a world of bigger motor cars or just the nonsense that it seems?? Great one Lord Wood!
