Hi Dr Furlan. This video is so positive. Gives hope to so many people. Years ago when I was confined to the bed with R.A. I used visualisation as one of my aids in getting myself mobile again. I believed in the body's ability to heal and recover and I slowly built up strength in my legs primarily so I could walk. And then i worked on building strength in the rest of the body . Progress was slow but I didn't give up. I believed I would get there. Which I did. Through my life journey I have taken many knocks which have had a negative effect on my health but by using visualisation, self believe, exercise, healthy diet I eventually recover. I use moderate exercise to reduce my pain and keep inflammation down. I try to think positively rather than negatively. Our thoughts affect our bodies. I do spend a lot of time in nature. I find it helps my brain. Also hanging out with positive people is great. Thank you Dr Furlan for posting this video . 💚☘️

Hi Dr Furtan, great videos. I started with brain retraining in April. I have a combination of neuroplastic pain and structural pain. I have done several courses in TMS, PRT but also had 2 neck surgeries that have not produced the expected results. One thing I have learned is that my pain definitely increases if my anxiety increases.

I’m so thankful for this video. I’ve had pain for 26 years. I didn’t wear shoes because of the pain so whenever I left my home I used a power wheelchair. I would walk around my home but I couldn’t wear shoes without so much pain. In 2003 I went to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota and was tested and all tests were normal. In 2024 I went back to the same clinic and had all the tests again and more. Everything came back normal so they recommended The Pain Rehibitation Clinic. My goal at the end of 16 days would be to walk with pain with shoes on. On the 14th day I started walking with the shoes with pain. October 25th 2024 was the last time I used my wheelchair. It’s been over 2 months and I’m not going to give up the shoes but I have pain that is constantly there. The burning in my legs for the last four years is there. Now with all the walking I have pain that I had back 24 years ago. Fiona mentioned so many things that I learned at PRC. But I was specifically told that the clinic was not there for my pain. My goal was to walk with pain with shoes on. Well I did that goal but now I need help with the pain and I don’t know what to do. I’m trying today to do the relaxation techniques at least 3 times a day. I’m going to keep searching because I believe there is an answer. Thank you.

Today there are brain imaging techniques that can show low grade inflammation in the brain (MRS, PET scan - see Prof Jarred Youngers' work for more info). Have you tried to use these brain imaging techniques before and after a period of the mental braintraining techniques you are using? It would be very interesting to see the progress of the training, and to see if the brain inflammations goes away completely, or if they decline, how long time it takes and so on. Prof Alain Moreau, Canada, can se different subgroups in ME/CFS, as well as fibromyalgia, in blood tests (still on research level). It would be interesting to see if the brain training techniques work equally on all the 4 ME subgroups + the fibromyalgia group, that can be diagnosed with prof Moreaus' tests. With a combination of the imaging techniques, and tests that show what subgroup the patient are in (what mRNA cluster that are causing the symptoms) you could get really interesting information. It would also be a scientific proof that the mental brain training is working, of course!

I have RA and nodules/lump on my thumb that is painful. I am answering from my experience. To me the pain sensation is a message that something is not right/or injured. The vagus nerve runs through our entire body and communicates with the brain. I am learning to “calibrate” my “sensor”. In other words like Dr Furlan used the example of computer hardware vs software and Fiona stated a good indicator is if the pain changes. The physical nodule/growth on my thumb gives me pain when I overuse it. However, before brain training aka meditating etc my thumb pained me constantly along with ALL the joints in the other fingers. Now I only have pain localized to the hardware damage IF I over use it. Hope that helps you❤
