Love the way you say “because”. :). Your lessons are very EEEZZY and I’m learning a lot. Your wisdom at the end is good, can not be all up to teacher to make you learn. I decided to spend at least 1 hour a day 4-5 days a week to watching and learning Thai. Then I pretend I am teaching my friend Thai, then go to store and try with real Thai person… and that is scary. 555

Malcolm Gladwell writes in his book that to become a "master" at any skill you must put in 10,000 hours of practice. I think that is true with learning anything, but particularly true with learning a language. You just have to put in the time. There is no substitute for practice. And some of the best practice is just trying and making mistakes and learning from native speakers. It's hard when you are not living in the culture, but you can Skype with people in other countries and listen to CDs, videos, etc. Pimsleur Thai CDs got me started. A book I recommend is "Learn Thai" by Thanapol (Lamduan) Chadchaidee and Prof Sam Sackett. It has tons of useful vocab along with sound files. I listen and practice while driving to work each day. Granted, I'm not a "dedicated" student of Thai, but I've progressed from not knowing anything to being able to start to read/write/speak a bit. You can do it! คุณสามารถทำได้
