I did a 15hp carb on my johnson 9.9 same boat, i get about 17mph. I played with the trim, and trimming up 1 or 2 tabs helps keep the nose up. Trimmed all the way down i had the same issue.

Set ya trim up just a notch on it, I had a little Yamaha on a little fiberglass boat I had , I Added about 2 Inches to the top of the transom to pick it up to the best Depth for the foot and one notch up on the trim ,it's in the pins on the Tilt on the motor, it added several more mph to the overall speed, no problem getting it up on plane ,

Is that a shortshaft outboard?

You need a bigger engine for that boat son. Get a 30 atleast. That 2 stroke is reving for its life and I don’t even think you’re going on 25k’s a hour. On a 3.5 metre aluminium boat with 15hp 2 stroke engine with a solace propeller you’re hitting over 50kph fully weighted
@Southernwildfin Жыл бұрын
Had a 25hp on it an it was nose diving it. When it got up on plain. And the 15hp don't put alot of stress on the back. I appreciate you watching
@Sebman33 Жыл бұрын
What do you mean nose diving it when it goes up on plane? Like instead of the nose pointing up the power was pushing it down? Was it doing it by itself or were you just letting off the throttle too fast? If that’s so you probably just need a Jack plate to adjust the engines height to find the sweet spot to keep the nose up when trying to plane and to stay up. And also if you’re worried about more power putting too much stress on the transom (back of the boat where the outboard engine attaches) you could always reinforce it with some more fibreglass or steel. Keep adventuring bro 👌🏼

@@Sebman33 it's a plastic boat. And it's 11.3 foot I think the shortness an the way it was built has something to do with it wanting to plow through the water. But the 15hp does everything I need. Great motor an a ultra fun boat. Gets me wherever I want to go. I appreciate the info
