Thank you! Making the video has certainly rekindled my enthusiasm for playing Bolt Action at 15mm. Definitely something for me to consider for future videos 😀

@OnPointHQ I welcome that. I'm a former FoW player, but I didn't sell off everything so I could play BA eventually.

I love it, BA is better in 15mm, keep the ranges the same, I think you will find it will play better should be interesting to hear your take on a game

I've played second edition at 15mm but not third edition. Like you say, keeping the ranges and distances the same really does make for a different game 😀

It's been a little while since I played at 15mm but I'm really looking forward to seeing how it works with third edition 😀

Great video! I was thinking of going 15s for WW1 & WW2. They're "space savers" on the shelf. The painting is a little quicker. Thanks for sharing! Merry Christmas and have a great New Year!

Thank you, really glad that you enjoyed the video! You're absolutely right about 15mm being easier to store and faster to paint. My two 15mm armies are quite large and still fit in relatively small boxes. You too buddy, best wishes for the holidays 😀

Brilliant, still to fit the US from the Bulge Box I won at CrackCon in to the painting schedule. But, now I am going to give Bolt Action ago using my 15mm collection. I already have enough Soviet and German single based infantry used for Chain of Command plus a metric ton of armour and guns used in O Group and Flames of War games :).
@OnPointHQ27 күн бұрын
Thanks Aled! I would definitely recommend giving it a go. I'd heard other gamers saying that Bolt Action at 15mm played really well and I've had some great games at this scale. Keeping the ranges and distances the same gives the game a very different feel to it 😀

Nice one Ste, love the look and play of BA in 15mm. I might have to invest in BA 3rd edition

I really do enjoy Bolt Action at 15mm, like I said in the video, it feels like an entirely different game at this scale. Definitely looking forward to trying third edition at 15mm 😀

Great looking lists ste, I must admit, I really am enjoying building lists for third edition

Cheers mate, much appreciated! Me too, I think the new way of building lists, and cheaper vehicle points, really gives you the creativity to make some creative lists using units that you'd not ordinarily field in second edition 😀

Great work yes very playable in 15mm great and interesting view on bolt action,great for those on a budget or have 15mm armies and limited space

Thanks Darrin. I've always found playing at 15mm turns Bolt Action into a very different game, especially when you keep the ranges the same. All mine have been played on a 4x4 table but I may expand this to 6x4 for the next game to see how it plays out. Really looking forward to it 😀

Cheers Justkn! It was really good being able to select unit choices that I wouldn't ordinarily be able to take at 28mm. Should be good to see how third edition works at this scale 😀

The new style lists kinda remind me of 2nd ed Flames of war. Good stuff
@OnPointHQ27 күн бұрын
Thanks Jeremy! I definitely agree with the Flames of War comparison when it comes to building a list. Overall I'm really enjoying the new force building process as it allows for some really unique and tailored armies 😀

I’m using 28mm for chain of command but I’m painting 15mm Brits so I might give them a go one I’ve finished painting I’m leaving my featherstone armies Airfix as they are. (Both armies only cost 40p).

I've still yet to paint up the additional British miniatures to make up the rest of the platoon for Chain of Command. Only ever played it once so I'm looking forward to getting more games in at 15mm 😀

Interesting: I like the "you go I go" system of Bolt Action but prefer the scale of Flames of War: so putting the two together would make sense for me.
@OnPointHQ26 күн бұрын
Hey Andy, I would certainly recommend it. Like I said in the video, playing Bolt Action at 15mm makes it feel like quite a different game and opens up a lot more tactical decisions. As a Flames of War player, you'll definitely be used to this scale but it would certainly be interesting to get your perspective on Bolt Action at this scale 😀

Great video- I’m new to BA - source for 15mm WWII miniatures?
@OnPointHQ23 күн бұрын
Thank you, much appreciated, glad you liked the video. The vast majority of the miniatures in my armies are by Battlefront, the makers of Flames of War. They produce a fantastic range of plastic infantry, tanks and vehicles. For anything I can't get from Battlefront I get from Skytrex. They produce metal miniatures but are great for support units. The medium machine gun teams in the video are from Skytrex and scale well with the Battlefront miniatures. Another 15mm option would be Peter Pig. They have a wide range of metal 15mm miniatures across various nations. Hope that helps! Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment, always appreciated 😀👍

Looks fun! How are you going to resolve template weapons?
@OnPointHQ15 күн бұрын
Good question! In the games of 15mm that I've played so far, templates/HE have never been used. I think it will be a bit of trial and error to ensure that they're not too overpowered. Should be interesting finding out though 😀

It's funny that I sold both my 28 mm Bolt Action armies last summer, intent in investing/focusing on less games with limited time/budget... Now, here I am tempted to invest back in bolt action, whether at 28 mm or at 15 mm. 28 mm makes more sense in terms of finding opponents, but 15 mm seems cheaper and just as fun. You mentioned other 15mm rulesets... Is that what dictated why some of your models are on round bases instead of square? Watching your video I was thinking that maybe HQ and complete teams like observer, sniper etc could be on round bases while infantry troop squads would be portioned off across square bases like your 5*2-man stands making your 10-man squads. That way your lmg teams are self-contained. Make it easier to add SMGs in pairs, etc.
@OnPointHQ26 күн бұрын
Hey Jon. Yes, these were all originally based for a game called O Group that's played at battalion level and is quite abstract when it comes to basing. I think basing for Bolt Action at 15mm is very much how you want it to be. If I was to start these from scratch, I'd probably have a mix of multibasing and single basing for the infantry sections. I'd definitely have the NCO and LMG team on separate bases. As long as you have a method for tracking casualties etc the basing is definitely down to person preference. As you state, it would make it easier to have support options, HQs on round bases and it wouldn't have an impact on the actual game at all. There are definitely benefits to 15mm (storage, painting, cost) and Bolt Action at this scale feels very different. It'd be interesting to see which scale you opt for 😀
@jonmattison393926 күн бұрын
Despite my budget and time constraints, both are equally a draw. While my 28 mm friends have flames of war armies, there is no promise that they would be willing to bolt action at 15 mm. Also since it looks like a 30 man box of plastic troops from Warlord is almost a complete army in terms of infantry, and then supplementing with printed vehicles. It's actually not looking too difficult to invest in 1250 points of 28 mm. Another upside to 28 mm is it leverages all the terrain I've collected over 20 plus years.
@OnPointHQ26 күн бұрын
Aye, your standard infantry box from Warlord Games is pretty much going to cover your starting rifle platoon and after that it's pretty much add what you want. Terrain was a bit of a blocker for me. I can still get away with using the same trees, roads and fields that I use for 28mm but the buildings I couldn't. I bought a few 15mm scale MDF buildings that I never got round to painting. They do a job but it's probably time to get some paint on them.

You still require a Company Commander. You have the rifle platoon commander and the armour platoon commander, but no company commander.
@OnPointHQ27 күн бұрын
Hey Greg. I don't believe the company commander is a mandatory choice. In the rulebook it states '....a force can also include a single company commander (plus transport vehicle) who is not part of any of the platoon selectors.' I read this as saying as a company commander can be included, it wasn't a required option for the company whereas platoon commanders are mandatory. For bigger games I would certainly try to include one 😃
@jonmattison393926 күн бұрын
Yes, that's how I read it too. Company commander is optional.

Ste dont u need one rifle platoon per other platoon i think ur german list may be wrong dude
@OnPointHQ25 күн бұрын
Hey Simon. Each rifle platoon you have gives you access to one each of the other platoons. So for my German platoon, I added three different types of platoon (heavy weapons, artillery and armoured) If I wanted to take another armoured platoon, I wouldn't be able to add it to the existing rifle platoon as it already has an armoured platoon. Instead I would need to take a second rifle platoon and add the armoured platoon to that platoon 👍
