☝️ *UPDATES 4.03.2022: [UPDATE 1]* The Radisson Rewards Premier card has been discontinued. Existing cardholders will be converted to the U.S. Bank Altitude Go card. *[UPDATE 2]* I forgot include the _Sonesta World Mastercard,_ which issues 30,000 points each account anniversary when you spend $7,500 on the card. Those points have an average value of $180 - $225, which is sufficient for about 1-3 nights as redemptions begin at 10K points / night 😃👍

Outstanding and comprehensive video. Great presentation on some of the lesser know hotel chains. I'm waiting for details on the IHG Business card, but the revamped personal IHG Mastercard getting certain 5x categories and minimum 3x on all spend is appealing. This card in particular could now be a good value for paying my current housing obligation to reach $20K spend. I'm gonna study the IHG system some more to see if what I'm thinking makes sense.

It's smart only if... 1. You'd normally stay 2+ nights in hotels even if you didn't have the cards, and... 2. You redeem the free night certificates at properties that cost more than the annual fees If 1 and 2 don't hold true, then it's not smart 😁✌️

Hi Mark. Question. What card would you recommend for a family of 5. I have the IHG premier card and have spire elite status and over 390k points. However I can’t use them because the room type I need is typically outside of their redemption scale. I.e the suite I book is 48k points and the max points are 40k or the room type is not available for points redemption for the times I am trying to go. Am I doing something wrong or is there a better card to use?
@MarkReese2 жыл бұрын
HI Christopher - when it comes to earning travel rewards, what are you specifically trying to achieve? Only hotel stays? Flights? Only interested in IHG brand? Lux vs. budget travel? Etc...please provide as much info as you can.
@christopherscott97362 жыл бұрын
@@MarkReese Hi Mark. So pumped that you replied. Mostly hotel stays and Lux. The hotels I typically stay would be considered Small Luxury Hotels and then I also need a room type the would allow for 5 people with typically puts me in a suite because most hotels cannot guarantee 2 connected rooms. I have small children 10, 8, 5 and this has been a challenge. The two I like to stay at outside of IHG do not have branded cards so I would need something like the Chase Sapphire Reserve due to the higher value of points on that card vs. the preferred. I would love to hear your thoughts...Thank you so much for your time.
@MarkReese2 жыл бұрын
@@christopherscott9736 - Got it. In order to maintain flexibility with chain + non-chain hotels, I'd go with a Chase setup in your situation. That'll give you access to transfer to IHG (and Marriott + Hyatt) when you want / need to, and also guarantee a 1.25¢ - 1.50¢ per point value via the Chase portal for any available hotels. That kind of flexibility & value is likely going to help you.
@EthanPatrick_CreditCards Жыл бұрын
Hyatt properties sometimes allow you to book a second room for your kids up to 50% off the cash price, even if you booked with points. Each property is different but can be a really good deal, plus Hyatt points/redemptions are a super good valuable. I traveled with my family of 4 for 30 nights in Hyatt this year, but we have a 5th family member now and will likely need that second room. Hyatt is great!

@@MarkReese - thanks! I’ll be under 5/24 by September! So I’ll wait. I like mid- high tier hotels. Elite status will be nice but I don’t think stay in hotels enough to get that status? I know some cards give you that automatically but is that because of having that card?
@MarkReese2 жыл бұрын
@@shaligasuksomsong - Consider the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless and/or World of Hyatt credit cards 👍 Both give entry-level status simply for having the card open & have mid-to-high-tier properties in their portfolios. Marriott is MUCH larger than Hyatt by the way, so keep that in mind based on where you want to go.
