thank you so much, seriously. i had my iPhone SE 2 for only 8 months and my battery life is at 90% now.. and i got the “Your battery’s health is significantly degraded” notification in battery settings. thankfully 90% isn’t the worst for 8 months of use, but now i want to be extra careful. especially because of that “Important Battery Message”… i check my battery life daily because my last iPhone died from the battery just stopping working.. so it’s a fear of mine lol. your tips listed in the video were seriously so helpful and i changed almost everything! now i’m hoping my battery life will be more sustained.

If anybody see’s this, 1. I love you. 2. We have amazing computers in our pockets, don’t take it for granted & 3. I used Reduce White Point literally all the time, and have it set to triple click the power button to enable or disable. It’s amazing for nighttime, or just, daily indoor use. My brightness is up 100% but so is reduce white point. Reason display is @ 100% is cause I have an iPhone 12 and have issues with Inky Blacks unless the display brightness is up most of the way. Apple hasn’t addressed this & this is my first OLED display from Apple.

Thanks for the video. I changed my settings and I turned off location services all together- don’t really need it unless I go out. As per your previous video, I am going to wait a few days and then if my battery keeps draining then I am going to reset it (after I back everything up). When I turned off my phone it was 87%, I waited a few minutes and turned it back on and it dropped to 60%. On another occasion my battery was almost completely charged and when I checked my email, the screen froze and when it came back up the battery was 2%!!! And finally, does it matter if I charge phone using a non Apple (generic) cord? I’ve never had any issues so far. THANK YOU!
@PayetteForward
@PayetteForward 3 жыл бұрын
When the battery jumps around like that, that’s when a DFU restore (link in description) can be a good idea, because it’s either a physical battery problem or the software on the phone that displays the battery percentage isn’t talking correctly to the battery itself. If you go to the Apple Store, they’ll try a DFU restore before doing anything physical. So if that keeps happening, try the whole DFU and restore from an iCloud backup, and you may end up fixing it. About cables - cables themselves rarely cause a problem. Non-Apple chargers, however, if they have a high Amperage rating, can cause battery problems because they try to push too much power in there, too fast. Be careful of anything over 2.1A. Hope this helps and thanks for your support. We’re here for you!

Dunno about some of the things really ... like some of them working only when others are left ON. For example “ optimised battery charging works ONLY if “ precise location is ON” which drains ton of power on its own and kinda counterproductive for the purpose of battery health. Your bank wants to be 'always on' because if your phone is nowhere near a purchase on your debit or credit card it gets flagged. Before this feature if I went into a 'high risk' area, I had to call my Credit Union and tell them to enable the debit card for that location. Now, my location is available without any input from me. As an OTR truck driver, this made a difference before I realized that ever using a debit card, except at an ATM for withdrawal, was far more risky than using a credit card.

One question related to optimized battery charging. Apple suggesting (in their site) these settings must be turned on to work optimized battery charging: Optimized charging is designed to engage only in locations where you spend the most time, such as your home and place of work. The feature doesn't engage when your usage habits are more variable, such as when you travel. Because of this, some location settings must be enabled for Optimized Battery Charging to activate. None of the location information used for this feature is sent to Apple. Here are a list of settings that must be enabled: Settings > Privacy > Location Services > Location Services. Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services > System Customization. Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services > Significant Locations > Significant Locations.

Unfortunately, not that I'm aware of. Go to Settings -> Battery and see if any apps are draining an inordinate amount of battery. Sometimes it's a setting for an app; other times a "Reset All Settings" can help. (Settings -> General -> Transfer or Reset iPhone -> Reset -> Reset All Settings) Good luck!

Tip #8 Background App Refresh: Where do I find that in the settings. I've followed all of the other tips but maybe your video jumped because you are in the background app refresh window and you navigated there from where? Thanks, love your videos, lots of good info and I constantly share your links. R. Cartmell

Dark mode only saves battery usage if you have an OLED display wherein individual pixels can be illuminated instead of the whole screen. In an LED display, the backlight is on regardless of dark or light mode. You should be telling folks to reduce display brightness instead. Dark mode can also increase eye strain because your pupils have to dilate to account for the darker display.

Also on non OLED displays, dark mode might propel you to use the screen brighter because it's harder to see things during the day.
