It’s rare because most photo sharing platforms check the file for compatibility upon upload, and fix the issue by recompressing the file & changing these kinds of things. If the intention of the photographer is to distribute an image online for use as a computer based image, like wallpaper, there is zero reason to have a *.jpg file in any colorspace other than sRGB. Frankly, I can’t imagine why any JPEG image should be anything but sRGB or AdobeRGB.

This happened to me, I downloaded a wallpaper app and had no idea it was the photo that stuffed my phone (until now) however after a while it gives you to a option to totally reset your phone so I did and then recovered every thing from my google backup so in the end I didn't really lose any thing...
