Thanks for that comment! Yes it’s a fabulous scheme and we got the chance to speak with two of the instructors and they were very enthusiastic about it for kids of all backgrounds. The kids we saw were certainly having a lot of fun!

Fab video again my favourite parts were the small snack lunch!!!!-shame not so tasty as a perfect place to enjoy. The beautiful and rightly protective swans of their cygnets brood! The wildlife and flora alongside and Manor House all lovely. The long underpass is like one at Instow we've walked through many times-quickly I might add!!! X 💜

The flowers are beautiful! I love what we call “Queen Ann’s Lace”. For some reason we can’t get it to grow here much anymore. Maybe the farming chemicals.
@NarrowboatLiberty Жыл бұрын
Hi Shoan, that’s a pity if it is the chemicals. Farmers in the U.K. tend to be more restricted on how they manage the hedges (protected by law) and the edges and ditches around their land. Don’t think they’re perfect, though, but owning the land doesn’t mean you can do whatever you want with it here! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

My sort of lunch in a lovely setting. Take care with the swans, we've a lot on the Thames, some are rather grumpy.

Thanks Paul - I later had to cycle past Brutus and he lunged at my legs! Haha. I’d been watching him earlier so I knew he was belligerent! Having seen the badly injured swan in our vlog on the subject, I know they can cause painful damage…great protective instinct, but I’d not allow kids to get within striking distance when they have cygnets ! Cheers mate

Hello Rob and Carol, What wonderful vlog, thank you, and such a lovely area. This is the first time we have watched you on your adventure,,we have lots of questions, which you probably have answered in your earlier vlogs, so we will watch them first🤝‼ Now that is said we would like to introduce ourselves; Colin and Heather, and Gunner and Healey (dogs). We are planning joining the narrowboaters as continuous cruisers on the uk canals for a couple of years, in September. Currently living in Ohio, for last 12yrs. we are looking foward to watching your vlogs on your continued adventures. Very best regards thank you again for shared your journey. Colin and Heather.

Hey Colin, Heather, Gunner and Healey! Thanks for your lovely comment. We moved back to the U.K. from Indiana (via Ireland) and Carol lived in Columbus OH for 27 years, plus we brought our three dogs over with us from the USA though only Tilly remains. So we have lots in common with you already! Feel free to ask us questions - as many as you like! We love to help and we’ll do our best to give you the information you need. Love Rob, Carol and Tilly xox

@@NarrowboatLiberty wow, thank you for your kind reply, we now have many more questions, when we brought our dogs from uk, via an international animal transport company which didn't go too well, so we may asking some questions about what you did to bring usa dogs to uk . As for your comments we have things in common, a pint of Timothy Taylor's, and a gin and tonic would be our choice too. (Oh I long for a pint of english ale‼‼🤝🤝. We are in just off the i75 interstate 45 mins south off Toledo. I guess you must have been brave going on the ribble link to get so northerly on Lancaster C . Your choice and volume of music is lovely, we Look forward to following your adventures. Thank you. Colin and Heather. PS we would be interested in your experience of transporting you dogs, who you used, anything you might change. Btw I (Colin) worked in Dublin for 4 years ! Best Regards Colin and Heather

@@colincox1688 Hi Colin, we used British Airways who offered a service to fly the dogs in the hold - crated separately- directly delivering them to animal control at London Heathrow. The key thing was to get the paperwork right, which for us also meant getting the dogs’ vaccination history signed off by the Indiana State Head Vet. The routine vaccines need to have been administered after the dogs are microchipped, effectively tying in the shots to the chip number of the dog. This is then also recorded in the pet passports. Back in 2013 when we flew in to the U.K. the dogs were on the same flight. We were made to pay in CASH $5000 to British Airways at Chicago O’Hare airport at the BA Freight Center. They also inspect the dogs before allowing them onboard. At the other end, you’re made to take the dogs away from animal control still crated, and as we had two pointers plus Tilly, we had to hire a pretty big van at the airport for our one-way trip from London Heathrow to Exeter in Devon. We dropped off the van there. So really we didn’t use an animal transport company but went direct through the airline. Our dogs arrived in good shape. Emmy passed in 2015 and Oscar in 2020. We lived just off I-70 in a town so small it had no stop lights! We were there for eight years and I miss the MidWest and the great people we knew there. I (Rob) am a Brit and Carol is a Hoosier by birth. We used a transport firm to take our 6 years old pointer from the U.K. to Chicago when we migrated in 2005, but he sadly died three weeks after arrival. I think the stressful journey didn’t help. We had no such issues with BA, but of course there’s always variations with who handles the dogs on any journey, so I’m telling you what we did, rather than what you should do Colin! I know I-75 and the Toledo exits, though I’ve never visited the city. I did a lot of work in Cincinnati, so was often down that way. :)

@@NarrowboatLiberty Rob and Carol, Tilly, You went through the wringer a bit for your best friends, and for me it's always a worry about how they are treated out of our sight, however that the risk we take. We will be using transport agency to ensure the paperwork is correct. I know we will get through it and will get our best friends onto the boat. Such a sad thing to lose a dog. When we came to USA we used delta and from internet they indicated that they would only take one dog on a flight, so we then thought we would us a animal transport agent, and we specifically told and in our written request delta had this policy they said that was a long since superceded. We all planned to arrive LHR terminal 4 with Gus and Minnie (two English Bull Terriers) on a Wednesday 0600 to hand over the dogs and jump on the same plane ......... well on late Tuesday afternoon we were called by Delta informing us only 1 Dog was allowed ‼‼‼ mmmm well more like arrgggghhhh. Well we called the agent‼‼😳😫😤🤬 well good to there (good to their second word) a solution was found, gus went to Amsterdam and then Minnie followed him . They arrive a day later than us and were not picked by the agent in DTW Detroit . The net net we got them and we took them home and all was well, they have since passed and we have two other (rescued) english bull terriers Gunner and Healey, who we hope will have a an uneventful journey. Heather and I are Brits too, and we childhood sweethearts, and our lives went there separate ways. Heather married an American airforce man and moved to USA and brought up two wonderful daughters . I married a lady from college and stayed in uk . By a quirk of circumstances (I am missing a lot of details here) we ended up married and living in the uk, I did not have children, so a years later when Heather heard from the other side of the Atlantic the beckoning call from the sound tiny feet of grandchildren........ more missed out....... after the arrival of a 40ft container of all our worldly goods and the the arrival of the dogs and mor recently becoming US Citizens the rest is history and great memories. And now the next period of time is to make some great memories. Signing off for now. take care, Colin. Heather

@@colincox1688 Yes, other than using kennels on the Queen Mary II, getting dogs to the U.K. from the USA can be really harrowing and bureaucratic! We must all meet up for a few beers when we get the chance! Bye for now.
