Came here for the peace and tranquilty your vids give me. But stayed for the bravery and honesty regarding your mental health. Episode 9 was a game changer for me. Finally someone has put into words how I feel on a daily basis. I've been able to show my partner your vlog and say "this is how I feel, this is what my brain does when things get too much, when I get too many inputs" But not only that but your insight has given me insight, what I need, what I should do to start trucking through life. So thank you so much!

Question guys that this video made me think about - maybe for your next Q and A? What are your thoughts on the amount of narrow boats on the system - are there too many? Or only in some places? With what looks like quite a few companies making decent amounts of new boats, where’s the tipping point before you can’t get around the system any more without struggling all the time? As always, love your work - Gav.

Great question. The number of boats is rising, but only very gradually.

Binge watching the series, love it. Talking of creepy theres a section on the Grand Union near me which has 2 trees just full of Crows, and they're proper loud when you approach. Just cawing at each other. Feels like something out of a horror film.

Top job on the effects for the Capernwray Arm section! I worked as a ranger on the canal a few years back and that was one of my favourite bits of it - proper backwoods feel to the place. I live not fifty yards from the cut in Carnforth - I'll give you a wave if I see you, but might draw the line at following you along the towpath and stopping every time you look round...:-)

My parents retired to Slyne, next door to Hest Bank very near the house with direct access to the canal. I've spent many happy hours walking and cycling alongside the Lancaster Canal. There is a fantastic 2nd hand book shop in Carnforth and it was the home of the Flying Scotsman (Steam Town) for many years. I believe that the Lancaster is the longest stretch of canal in the UK without any locks? It's a pity that they lost the section into Kendal when the M6 was built. Thank you for the video it brings back many happy memories.

I thought the spooky jetty looked amazing 😁 it reminded me of parts of the Norfolk Broads. I don’t know if you’ve been but some parts made me feel like I was in the devils bayou, I was sure I could hear banjos! This was a great video and it’s the first time I’ve seen Morecambe Bay from the canal. If I won the lottery I would definitely buy a house with a canal front mooring and imagine being near the sea I would love that. It would have to be away from roads, railway lines and motorways. The number of times I’ve seen fantastic properties on the canal only to find a high speed train goes flying past is unbelievable. I know people say you get used to it but I know I never would! Thanks as always for sharing your adventure. I’m really enjoying it.

Thanks Sylvia. It's weird because as much as most noises cause me to meltdown, I could quite happily live right next to a busy railway line. I love trains! Morecambe Bay was lovely and the video/drone shots don't really do it justice. xxxx

Foxes Afloat I used to travel between London and Sunderland regularly and every time the train pulled into Stevenage I used to think who would live in those flats right on the main line into London. Then one day as I was heading north to a meeting with a friend and colleague as we pulled into the station he pointed and said I live in that flat. He’s also a train enthusiast and said he loved living there especially as it’s a regular pickup point for charter trains. I have to admit I have been on several charters with the full dining service and they are great. I even did one with several friends for my 50th birthday. The Belmond is a real treat. 😋🥂

You guys crack me up. I feel safe and protected when I'm surrounded by trees. My wife feels the same as you - She thinks the trees are a perfect hiding place for "bad guys." Damn horror movies...

Great video , I know how you feel when you can't find anywhere to moor , its awrful , we get it alot on the broads , KEEP OFF , STRICTLY PRIVATE , NO MOORING , GRRRR , I really hate it . There's getting less & less places for us to moor , I was watching a video the other day on the river ribble with floating experience I think it was , & WHO should I see ? Lol you two in the same lock , brilliant lol . It was great to watch you both , you always make me chuckle . 😉⚓

We stopped in the Capenwray back in the early eighties when we were teenagers. Only boat there for days. Looks a lot busier these days! Moorings have always been an issue. That's why the Northern reaches needs to open. The canal is just too busy for such a "short" canal.

Opening the Northern Reaches would be amazing - Kendal then onto Windermere!. But would it just attract more traffic? Making the approaches even busier?
@FoxesAfloat5 жыл бұрын
It is quite busy at the moorings. Wouldn't be so bad if the dredged some of the suitable spots to allow more mooring spaces. Would be even better to reopen the whole 14 miles of the north! x

I think it would be easily managed because it can still only be accessed by the Ribble, hence you get a steady flow back and forth. x
