Mike you mentioned getting up early is important. I, too, like getting up at around 3:30 or 4, making coffee and checking the news. An old man told me years ago "A person can get more accomplished between 7am and noon, than he can from noon till 7pm." BTW I think you are the luckiest man alive. You have the absolutely best toys a man could want, a gorgeous wife and children or, should I say family. What else could a person wish for, except for it all to be paid for, lol.

This was one of your best videos Melissa! It was so nice to get to know you and your husband Mike on a more personal level. Y'all seem to really love each other, even after "all these years!" :) I think it's awesome that Mike is so centered and focused on the well being of his family. I think one of the biggest reasons Chip and Joanna Gains were so successful on HGTV was the relationship they allowed to shine through during their video recordings and this was a very positive example that their viewers appreciated. Keep on sharing the love!

Yes, I watched it all! Thanks for no music! Great Interview Mel. I think many of your viewers are much like you in some ways Mike. Hard working, persevering, talented and firm minded. I will always be puzzled that you think people who may know better based on experience and knowledge are considered 'haters'. I think there was only 1 suggestion that you followed out of hundreds, perhaps thousands. You have done a great job of raising your family through difficult times. 1 more suggestion I have is to finish projects you start. The next one you start better be a Swimming Pool! Order it in and let the Pro's do it all. You can put a screened high cover over it to keep the leaves out at a later date. Happy 4th.

Meat Loaf and cigarette machines... a story to combine them! In 1978 Meat Loaf was in Bearsville, NY (next to Woodstock, NY) recording at Al Grossman's Bearsville studio. He went to Kingston to drink and ended up in a place called Frog Alley. Meat Loaf lost his money in the cigarette machine--a common thing at the time. With that he proceeded to beat up the machine... punching and kicking it. That was during the phase after Bat Out of Hell when he started melting down... Frog Alley is long gone... You two stirred up some bizarre memories with this interview. LOL
