INTP (and INFJ at the end) were absolutely fantastic. I also found it hilarious that INFP thought it was a good idea to go to the INTJ for "companionship." And she wasn't wrong, despite the stereotypes...our Fi function is strong enough that we get along quite well with INFPs (except perhaps when we are in a Te groove and the INFP can't accept it and leave us in peace 😏).

@sydneycarton41062 жыл бұрын
To be honest, I haven't interacted with INFPs much either. I was mainly speaking in generalities from the patterns I've seen literature and comedies, and what would make sense given the cognitive functions that we both have. I must say that I find you all fascinating as well, especially when you get past the stereotypes and show glimpses of your lower functions (Si/Te).
@kyurei44782 жыл бұрын
I wonder if me an INFJ can get along well with INTPs then 🤔. I think so because I much like their particular way of thinking and I find their binary mind very cute. I can feel that under their cold surface, there is a loving heart which care for people. Also we both love learning endlessly. And contrary to what could be popular belief, we don't mind coldness when it's just an attitude.

Yes, from what I've heard, INFJs tend to get along very well with INTPs. Similar interests, similar functions, different strengths and weaknesses. This was hilarious! But the ENTP is right in a way. It would have taken me like 10 seconds to locate the alarm (based on my home), half a minute to disable it and maybe another half minute or so to find the source of the smoke (depending on how obvious it was I might have already recognized it by the time I reached the alarm). So basically by the end of the intro and before the ENTJ got intercepted by the INFJ everything would have been settled. Obviously if there was a real fire I wouldn't disable the alarm in order to give certain people/personalities a chance to realize the seriousness of the situation.

4:47 LMAO, as an ENTP I find hilarious how some people miss my sense of humor and think I am being serious. It happened often with my ESFP brother, until he slowly over the years, started tog et I was joking most of the time. I would often sneak in a few low key puns, with ironic humor. He would simply start talking about what I said, while I just looked at him with a grin. And he would be like, "what?" and me "nothing". Eventually, when he began to understand my humor, the same would happen, but after seeing my grin, he would step back think a little bit and then facepalm... it was hilarious. Nowadays, he fully gets my humor, and he loves it now. But it was a process that took years, lmao.

@@emilys3638 Hey Emily! I remember you, good to see you. You where an INFJ or ISFP, if I remember correctly. If not sorry my memory didn't serve me well this time, lmao. haha yeah, I would deliver my jokes in a deadpan manner, but I would make it extremely obvious in my mind. Because I would try to make what I said, as absurd and illogical as possible. Hoping people were as good as me, at catching contradictory and or illogical statements. But then, nobody would laugh, and sometimes some people would take what I said seriously. Which, it would always perplex me, I would be like really? didn't you see my argument completely contradicts and defeats itself? It took me a long time, very very long time, to realize that the logic which was clear in my head, wasn't clear for everybody. So many times people would start arguing with me, over a joke. But what I found so perplexing, was that even when they argued, no one catched that my whole "argument" was contradictory and or illogical in the first place. Same happens with sarcasm, it surprises me how very few people get sarcasm. Not only when I say it, but when others say it as well. But if you manage to get ENTPs jokes, specially those surrounding logic. And are able to catch our ironic humor and sarcasm. You will easily get on our good side.

@@farrex0 Hi!! Yes, I remember you too, and I'm really sorry that I never got back to replying to that earlier conversation we had, but I sure did enjoy it! And yes, you are correct, I'm an ISFP, and my husband is an INFJ so that may be why you're connecting that type with me as well. So, definitely as an ISFP with Ti demon, logic is quite literally the furthest thing from my mind! But I nonetheless do feel that I'm gradually understanding the ENTP viewpoint better over time... At least I hope! I think what happens for me, at least in my interactions with this brother, is that I initially sense humor and respond accordingly, but when I sense that he's still not grinning back with me sharing the joke, I'll second-guess it and wonder if that time was actually serious. I mean, you can never underestimate the connections that an Ne-using brain will make, despite seeming disparities. He could have come up with something brilliant that I have yet to understand! Or, yes, he could actually be joking, or baiting me with fallacies to entice me towards a debate. But then other times, I'm certain I know he's serious this time, again because of the unfathomable power of Ne, so I entertain his theories with sincerity, only to receive a ribbing as I realize too late that this time he was "obviously" joking!! Lol I'm just never QUITE sure which it'll be! But honestly that's the fun of it -- my Se enjoys the experience of encountering a unique mindset that intrigues my curiosity! As long as I don't ACTUALLY get ridiculed and it's all in good fun, I do admit that I enjoy it! I definitely believe that the interaction between polar-opposite mindsets doesn't innately HAVE to breed conflict. With the right perspective, it can bring a ton of inspiration and balance!

@@emilys3638 Oh yeah, that probably is where I got the types mixed. But I do remember I enjoyed your insights. And yeah, I guess we bring it on ourselves. Because Ne can so easily flip from joking to serious. Ne to me feels like if I have no control over what my brain comes up with. For that very reason I like to talk about my brain in third person, and mind in first. My brain, brings ideas, jokes, connections to me, wiothout me ever asking nor wanting to have them. I can't repress them even if I wanted to. So my brain (Ne) for me, is like a kid in a toy store, and my mind is the parent. This kid will run around and grab any and every single thing that peeks its interest. And my Ti - Fe parents, will judge whether they should buy the toy or discard it. But because I never have any control over my Ne, I never know what I am going to get. It might be something funny, it might be somethign serious. It might be a brilliant connection, it might be somethign completely useless. It might be somethign that relates to the conversation at hand, it might be something completely unrelated to the topic. But an ENTP and ENFPs are very different in the way we externalize things. Because Fi is a quicker function than Ti. Fi looks for what is subjectively valuable for the person, and if it is they might share it. Ti is more analytical, and will rather sit with the insight and think it over. So when we share, it mgiht be somethign we have already though about it for sometime. Making it more personal. So the way all of this relates to what you said. For the ENTP, we might easily share what is silly, because of Fe we want to lighten the mood. But then comes the valuable insight, that our Ti already thought about it for sometime, hoping people would value it as well. But since, people are more used to hearing our silly side, then it might go unoticed or taken as a joke. But, it is illogical to expect people to know when we are joking or being serious, because we flip between the two too often. Yet, it isn't because we are purposely that way, but because Ne is that way. ANd we can't control Ne. I can't even force it to come up with ideas or jokes, everything just comes naturally, all the time. If I force myself into trying to think about trains, my brain will think about airplanes. I only share only 5% of what my brain gives me, and people still get surprised. I do ot share most, because people would think I am crazy, lmao.

Also I love how the ENFP is the one to cause the fire or at least the smoke. I’ve never actually done a toaster, but I did burn a pop tart in the microwave and the coffee machine has so many opportunities to forget to do something (like actually out a cup under it which I did yesterday or put a cup under but forget to put the piercery thing and then I have to actually remember to drink my tea/coffee after I’ve made it, I end up drinking cold coffee/tea a lot). Also objects are super easy to just miss, but somehow when I don’t actually want to touch them I end up bashing into them?! Curse demon Se- but it’s ok because I can’t imagine not having dominant Ne. also there is never a bad time for a pun 😂 drives my ISTJ mum crazy.

You've nailed it again, Kristin. The moment I saw that seriously looking, detached person focused on her job, ignoring the surroundings and bluntly stating it might be a prank I realised is must be the INTJ. And the line about 'reply to all' email rings a bell as well. A friend of mine had sent Christmas wishes such a way and I responded with: 'don't treat me like spam, as I will treat you accordingly'. And stereotypically, I deeply admired the ENFP's 'social butterfly, even in a calamity' attitude.

LOL! Great job, once again! I love this so much! I always look forward to your skits! I hate critiquing anything because no matter what your videos are always awesome, but you KNOW as an INTP I HAVE TO! (wink wink) First of all, the good stuff. INTP dying because of the smoke detector going off is on point, and I knew immediately it was the INTP because they were at the computer seemingly completely immersed in their 50th wikipedia tangent of the day. ISTP would have had that thing taken care of sooooo much quicker than that (my husband is ISTP, thank God). Of course, you needed the time to get through all the 16 types, so I get it. The ISTP could have shown up at the house at the very end, walked in and turned off the smoke detector. What I normally do is just wave a towel at the smoke detector and that makes it turn off. But if the smoke is still happening, it will just start ringing again... I could not imagine living in a house with one of each personality type. It makes for GREAT comedy! These are the types that are in my large family-of-origin: 2-3 INTPs 1 ISFP 1 ENFP 1 ENFJ 1 ENTP 1 INFJ 1-3 INFPs 1 INTJ 1 ESFJ And my husband is an ISTP. So we need ESFP, ESTP, ESTJ, ENTJ, ISTJ, and ISFJ. Which is interesting because those types have Se, Te, or Si as first function. hmm... just typing out loud here...

Lol, I sort of got the ENTJ right. I figured they would either be the ENTJ or the ENTP. As an INFJ, I was a little disappointed with the presentation of the INFJ. I would have recognized the urgency of the situation, while trying to help shut off the alarm as I would have been highly bothered by the sound of it (inferior Se). Okay, I kind of take it back. I can see that the one questioning the ESTP and the ESFJ in the beginning was in fact the INFJ. Alright, I gotcha'! YESSS! As an ISFP I would definitely be running around screaming, "Make it stop, make it stop!!" As a sensor, I simply cannot ignore sensory data! Can't concentrate until peace has been restored. Of course I would also try to discern if there really was a fire, and I'm actually pretty clearheaded in a disaster due to Inferior Te kicking in under stress, but if there's obnoxious beeping or blaring going on, that seriously interferes with my concentration!)

This is why every time I lived with bad cooks, I stole out the batteries out of the fire alarm, and got another one for much further away. I couldn't move it because of their ego. An unexpected 'benefit?' was that this stroked their ego, and they bragged about becoming better cooks.
@MichaelGrundler2 жыл бұрын
Now I'm intrigued to find out why and how the sound of a fire alarm is able to jam the INTP's brain. It can't be one of the cognitive functions on its own since all of the types that share a function with the INTP seem relatively unaffected. Maybe the INTP isn't human in one way or another? 🤔😉 (Unless it's a form of epilepsy. But I don't assume that was intended here because it wouldn't fit the theme of a funny video like this.)
@dearkristin2 жыл бұрын
I was SUPER exaggerating the blind Se being overwhelmed by too much sensory input. Which, in classic blind Ti fashion, shows no consistency with the fellow Se-blind INFP, who is fine. 😅
@restlessmosaic2 жыл бұрын
Not from being an INTP but from being autistic, a fire alarm can jam my brain because my brain only has about 3 lanes for information. If, for example, one lane has sight, one has sound, and one has what I'm thinking about, a sudden need for proprioceptive awareness at the same time as sound is going to kick out either sight or thought. So I have to find an extra lane to handle the situation. I've dealt with false fire alarms well enough in my apartment, but it has to be quick and it's best if I'm not talked to at the same time. And a fair amount of times in my life, if I'm worn down and need to think of words, I have to close my eyes.
@freregregoire26852 жыл бұрын
Beside being a loud noise, it is a noise that demands immediate action without being specific what that action should be, so trying to Ti-Ne something while being hopelessly overwhelmed... Shouldn't have missed those fire drills of ISTJ, now your Si is useless. I recognized my type immediately, even if in practice I hope I could be at least a bit ENTP as well :) -INTP
@justacat8692 жыл бұрын
Also INTP, I'm not rendered completely useless by loud noises but they definitely put me on edge. I've been through a similar situation recently. I was in the waiting room at a clinic and then some alarm started blaring all of a sudden. At first I freaked out then I started looking around like "Where is it coming from?" I was looking around me, no one seemed bothered by it, I was just thinking "Why is no one stopping the alarm? What is going on??" It took around 5 minutes until it stopped but it felt like it lasted forever. It was stressful and I couldn't keep thinking of anything but how to make it stop.
@oluchukwuokafor77292 жыл бұрын
@@dearkristin I would expect that reaction from Se inferior, rather than Se blind. Se inferiors usually have a high sensitivity to sensory stimulus because the inferior function is all or nothing. Se blind as the name implies, has a low sensitivity to sensory stimuli's so they probably wouldn't notice the alarm if anything.
