UMBC was way too fast off the dribble and tenacious on D for Virginia to handle. They were shell shocked and didn't know how to respond. Not to mention that weak, slow paced offense. There was no chance for a comeback.

fun fact: because of this game, #9 Kansas State ended up wearing white TWICE in this tourney, the only #9 seed to have ever done it. (they also wore white against #11 Loyola Chicago, who they lost to.)

Dave Odom was a great coach at wake forest and his son is doing a superb job at University of Maryland Baltimore County. In all fairness however Virginia has had a very long history of choking in big games - and in some that were not so big

I’m so happy for the kids on UMBC, and I’m almost equally as sad for the kids on UVA. This will forever follow every participant in this matchup, in a good way for half, and misery for the other, for the rest of their lives. Wow! Micah Bisharah the most recent 8 seed to beat 1 seed was in 2011 when Memphis beat the spurs 4-2, i agree, last year the bulls looked unstoppable when they were playing the celtics for the first 2 games beating boston twice on there home floor it look like an easy sweep for the bulls, with wade, butler, but then out of nowhere the bulls staring point guard rondo, who was running the bulls offense very well, goes out with broken hand 1 day before game 3, bulls end up not winning a game for the rest of the series.
