Almost 40 years ago while running a restaurant, we added Ranch to our salad bar. The Hidden Valley dry mix was used with good mayo (Hellmans) and buttermilk. We made 2 gallon batches several times a week. It was a hit and simple. In my memory that was the ultimate.

Totally...the dry mix added to a quality mayo (or milk per recipe) fully beats anything in a dressing bottle. Plus it's super easy & you can change it up a bit with simple ingredients...just store it in jar & use it up pretty quick. YUM I'm hungry now for some veggies

I love Newman's Own salad dressings. He did a lot for the underprivileged during his lifetime. Every penny made from the salad dressings goes to charity. Fantastic!

This video seems to be focused on the prepared bottled ranches but I would say the best option to go if you have more time and ingredients on your hands is to buy the Hidden Valley Ranch Packets. If you prepare some buttermilk or milk in with a quality mayo like Hellman's mayo and a packet then refrigerate it for at least 4 hours or overnight the flavor is worlds better than buying the prepared bottled ranches. It pretty much tastes like if you made it completely from scratch with dried seasonings like dill.

Hidden Valley Ranch will always be my favorite store-bought ranch dressing, but Kraft is a worthy substitute, especially since it’s a Little cheaper than HVR (Kraft also makes my favorite mayonnaise). Kraft also has a Buttermilk Ranch dressing, so you should definitely try that in addition to their Classic Ranch dressing. 👍

I was a Hidden Valley fan for years until I read a lady's comment on some long forgotten website. She said Walmart store brand (Great Value) was the best. I gave it a try. She was right and I haven't gone back since.

Bob’s Big Boy ranch is my favorite. It is rich, creamy with a subtle buttermilk flavor. Though not as good as their Roquefort or blue cheese dressings, it is as close to fresh made restaurant quality ranch as you will find.

Member's Mark Ranch Dressing from Sam's Club is delicious, $10 a gallon. And we add a little Hidden Valley Original Ranch Salad Dressing and Seasoning Mix to it to give it a kick. Hidden Valley Original Ranch is $16 a gallon.

I've never had Annie's ranch but I do enjoy some of their other products like the mac and cheese and cheesy rabbit crackers. Haven't had Hidden Valley since I was a kid but I did like it back then. The Olive Garden ranch is pretty good. My go-to now is the Litehouse, I love it.

I need to find the Newman's own... I love it at McDonald's but they no longer have salads due to having to size down their menus. I'd buy as many as they'd sell me and put it in my own glass bottles at home! I wonder if the "store bought" is as good. We all know McDonald's Coke is the best (and why) so I'm not certain buying off the shelves would be the same. I just can't find it in my neck of the woods, then again, I can't find a huge variety and I'm in a major city to boot.

I like Hidden Valley. I also like Marzetti, which is the brand Culver's gives you when you order a salad w/Ranch. I like Brianna's dressings, too, but admittedly I've never tried their Ranch, only their vinaigrettes. I regularly order deep-fried mushrooms w/Ranch from my local pizza joint; I wish I knew what brand they use, because it's really good!

A couple of things, I don't believe organics has anything to do with flavor, it's about not using chemicals to grow the food. Also, not all restaurants make their own dressings. Ken's Steakhouse makes an awesome Caesar dressing.

Hidden Valley might taste good when made with their packets, but the ingredients are highly questionable when you read the label. Ingredients Vegetable Oil (Soybean and/or Canola), Water, Nonfat Buttermilk, Sugar, Salt, Natural Flavors, Egg Yolk, Vinegar, Less than 1% of: Spices, Garlic (Dried), Onion (Dried), Corn Starch, Xanthan Gum, Citric Acid, Natamycin and Mixed Tocopherols (Vitamin E) If you can't buy the ingredients or grow them, they are chemicals designed for profit with no regard for your health.

Just make them by your own. A pinch of salt, one egg, a sponful vinegar, half of lemon blend them together then add 100 ml neutral vegetable oil slowly. You can add black pepper, cayenne powder, any powder you like.

Sysco carries the one everyone wants... The one you get in every restaurant. It's marzettis, but is more watered down. Comes in a huge container. The store bought marzettis in a jar isn't the same at all.
