The prophets through their fasting and prayer were prepared to commune with the messengers of the Lord, to receive instruction and visions. Please share so that no matter where we are in this world physically, two or more of us may Unite in the presence of the Lord through fasting and prayer. May we gather together in his name.

In Exodus 16:23 what were they 'baking and boiling' if all they had to eat was the manna? Also, something I've been thinking about is GMO fruits and vegetables. If their seeds don't reproduce, or if I'm understanding correctly some don't produce seed at all, then are we breaking Abba's Torah if we eat them? I'm also wondering if there is even more significance to the 12 springs and 70 palm trees Exodus 15:27? Didn't know if you had anymore insight on that. :)
@AssemblyofCalledOutBelievers7 жыл бұрын
Shalom and thank you for your questions! In regards to Exodus 16:23 Rashi says it refers to the preparation day (the 6th day) before Shabbat whatever you wish to bake in an oven, bake everything today for two days worth, and whatever [amount] of it you need to cook in water, cook today. [The word] אִפִיָה, baking applies to bread and the expression בִּשׁוּל to cooked dishes... so maybe this refers to the dough they brought from Egypt as well as the quail meat they had. In regards to the original diet in Eden God says, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food for you" [Gen. 1:29]. This is one of the first mitvah in the Garden and I believe still applies to us today, so as much as possible I to only eat a natural vegetarian diet of unaltered fruits, vegetables, dark green leafies, and whole grains. GMO is a type of hybrid and not fit for human consumption. In Exodus 16:23 The pasuk says, “They arrived at Elim, where there were twelve springs of water and seventy date-palms; they encamped there by the water” [Shemot 15:27]. The Ramban wonders why it was so significant for us to know that there were 12 springs and 70 palm trees in Elim. This does not seem to be a particularly impressive number of either palm trees or flowing rivers. There are places, he notes, where thousands of date palms grow in close proximity to one another. Likewise, the number of flowing streams would not seem to be so significant that the Torah should bother to emphasize these facts. Futhermore, the Ramban notes is that in Parshas Massei where the Torah reviews all the travels of the Jewish people in the wilderness, most of the stopovers are given very short shrift. Even the stopover at Marah, which was the site of significant events, the Torah only mentions in passing, very briefly. However, when the Torah mentions the stop at Elim in Parshas Massei, it again notes the number of springs and the number of palm trees [Bamidbar 33:9]. This surely begs for an explanation! What is so significant about this stop at Elim and the number of springs and palm trees? The Ramban quotes a Medrash - the Mechilta of Rebi Eliezer haModai - who notes that at the time of Creation, God created this place with 12 springs corresponding to the 12 Tribes of Israel and 70 palm trees corresponding to the 70 Elders (of the Sanhedrin). Each tribe dwelt by its own stream and each member of the Sanhedrin sat under the shade of his own palm-tree, thanking the Almighty for preparing this respite for them in a parched wilderness, from the time of Creation. What is the message of this Medrash? What is the Torah trying to tell us here? Remember Israel was on their way to the "Betrothal" at Sinai where the Ketubah covenant (Torah) would be given. Now consider the following parable: Imagine guests who are attending an “out-of-town wedding.” The entire wedding entourage is staying in a hotel. The hosts have prepared a hotel room for each of the guests. In each hotel room, they prepared an elaborate package of fruits, cakes, chocolates, and drinks. Each room contains the newspaper of the home city of those guests. What does such an arrangement say to the guests? It tells the guests that they are very important. The hosts are so pleased to have the presence of each guest at their simcha that they went out of their way to cater to each one’s personal needs. This event appears prior to the Betrothal and receiving of the Torah. The Almighty went “out of His way”, so to speak, to impress the Jewish people - before they received the Torah - with their importance. Each member of the Jewish people belongs to one of the 12 tribes. God did not merely provide a river with enough water for everyone to drink. Rather, He provided each tribe with a very special gift before the Betrothal - a personalized stream for each tribe. The message is: “You are one of the ‘Select Twelve’ - part of My treasured nation, My chosen people. I treat you like My honored ones.” The other thing Klal Yisrael (the assembly of Israel) must know before they receive the Torah is that “Kabbalat HaTorah” cannot work without the 70 Elders. We are dependent on those who transmit Torah, that special subset of the nation who teach the Torah and tell us how to interpret the Torah. That bit of knowledge is crucial before Kabalat HaTorah (receiving the Torah). The awareness of these two concepts is fundamental for the nation and for us today. They must be aware of the importance of every Tribe and of the importance of the transmitters of Torah to our nation. Therefore, from the beginning of time, God already prepared this message, by creating the 12 streams flowing and the 70 palm trees growing in Elim, on the way between Egypt and Mt. Sinai... A beautiful gift before the Betrothal!

Assembly of Called-Out Believers Wow! What a beautiful picture and reminder of Yah's goodness with 12 streams and 70 palms! I love this, thank you for taking the time to answer so thoroughly :) Not sure how i got it in my head that the quail was only a one time thing... or that all they had to eat for 40 yrs was manna. It does say they had livestock too. I'll have to start buying organic. I knew I should be but I let my low income deter me. My budget allows for $3 per day for food but I know Abba will show me how to do it!
@AssemblyofCalledOutBelievers7 жыл бұрын
I know what you mean... I too am on a very limited budget and can only solve that problem by fasting more and drinking more water (1 gallon/ day distilled water) and then only eating and juicing organic as much as possible and praise God He sustains me in complete health!
@moose28947 жыл бұрын
Assembly of Called-Out Believers I like the sound of that! Fasting 3 or so days per week would allow me to eat very well for the other 4 days. And I love juicing! Hoping to have a productive garden this year:)

Assembly of Called-Out Believers - what are your thoughts on the Hebrew people eating quail, keeping livestock (assuming to eat and get milk and clothing from) .. in Egypt they ate the lamb .. Abraham offered and possibly ate a fattened calf and many places people eat meat... were they compromising the dietary laws of God ? Thanks

If I love my neighbor as myself would I be bad to them. If I not judge anyone but judge myself would this be safe, better world? Jesus said the log in my eye I should worry about not the speck in the other person's eye. People judge me by what I do . I am a sinner the odd time a fowl word or action happen then I am ashamed and sorry please pray for God to help me change. Being locked in, alone, poor,and uneducated is a curse and blessing . See it through this Torah portion and please teach me and us in this 9 plague darkness we temporarily are in hope laugh.

Jesus Christ ( Yahshua Messiah) our Lord and Saviour said; lf you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. This is written in John 8:31-32. Matthew writes in 10:38-40 And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life will find it. He who receives you receives Me, and he who receives Me, receives Him who sent Me. These are the words of Yahshua. The wonderful words of life. Matthew 5:44 Jesus says; Love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who despitfully use you and persecute you. Proverbs 30:5 Every word of God is pure:He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him. God knows your heart, and knows every hair on your head. And the light of the everlasting gospel shines brightly. Just as the apostle Paul writes in 11 Corinthians 4:6-11 For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us. We are hard pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair. Persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed--- Always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus Christ, that the life of Jesus also may be manifestd in our body. For we who live are always delivered to death for Jesus' sake, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh. Remembering the words of Jesus to Martha. I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this? Let us trust in the LORD with all our heart and lean not on our own understanding. This is our hope and our joy for if God is with us who can be against us. HalleluYah.

Shalom Rabbi Issac! So I see the "outstretched arm" as deliverance/mercy. It shows YHVHs power or sometimes judgement. Do you think that is accurate? What is the Hebrew phrase for outstretched arm? I do understand it is a foreshadow of Messiah

I find it rather odd that people think that the Ten Commandments are somehow set apart from all the other commandments, statutes and judgments spoken by YHWH, simply because the first ten were spoken directly to Israel, while all the others were spoken to Moses who wrote them down, then spoke them to the Israelites. Who elected to change the delivery mechanism? YHWH or Israel? Didn't Israel interrupt YHWH and ask that Moses be their representative who hears what YHWH says? So I don't know how exactly the first ten are somehow separate from all the rest of the instructions that YHWH spoke to Moses, rather than speaking directly to all of Israel. The Messiah tells us that the 2 greatest commandments are found in Deuteronomy 6:5 and Leviticus 19:18, which technically weren't even spoken directly to Israel by YHWH. Obviously all the Commandments, statutes, judgments hang off the two, including the first ten. But I'd think if the Ten were truly set apart from all the rest, then Yahshua would have said the 2 greatest would have been 2 of those first 10. To me the hard part is trying to determine which of the commandments, statutes and judgments are "least"? Not that I want to avoid keeping those, but I'd like to be aware of them so when I see a man only keeping and teaching these, I might try to let him lovingly know that he might want to keep and teach the other "greater" ones too.

Many of the Ethiopian people have Jewish blood from Solomon who had a son named Menalik with the Queen of Sheba (Ethiopia) and many of Solomon's firstborn sons from other wives came back to Ethiopia with Menalik after his trip to visit his Father and intermarried. Menalik went on to become the first Solomonic Emperor of Ethiopia.

I realize now why YHVH did not allow isreal to take a short cut to caanan because they would of been battled in the front with Philistines and Egyptians from behind and that would be not good for isreal maybe destroying most of isreal so the waters destroyed the enemy's from behind
