I loved this movie as a preteen. I'm glad that I rewatched it now at 21. Although I don't like how they portrayed being 22, like being 30. As a 21 year old going on 22, I feel more like a teen than a 30 year old, adolescence lasts until age 25. Also I like the contrast between Abby's 14 year old brother and the 16 year olds, shows that a 14 year old is still a kid compared to older teens.

I was 13 going on 14 when I first watched this film. This made me wanna plan my Sweet 16 but then I realize I should be grateful for the things I have. I had a Sweet 16 before in my house and it’s not like the one from the movie, but it was one of the greatest memories in my life because today is a gift. Watching this movie today as a young adult today made me realize how Abby was such a spoiled brat with her wishes selfishly thinking about herself instead of others like her family, her best friend Jay, and her rival/former friend Krista.

Same! I'm thankful to my mom and dad for giving me the experience with a few friends as well when I was 16. Haha my mom and I would watch it every year together when I was 14 and now.. today I'm 25 and have moved out and I still send her the movie to watch with my over the phone.. nobody knows I still kept my 16 wishes at the age of 14. The wishes don't happen immediately but trust me they come true eventually just in a different way :)
