They're going so soft on him, he ripped the heelhook on a teammate in an inhouse tournament after the guy vocally and physically tapped like five times. He just ripped it harder until everything tore. I'm not watching another match of his, he should be barred from competing for that shit.

Holy shit the soft ball responses in this clip are insulting. This kid rips submissions with intent to break limbs on purpose, and you guys are excusing him as just "being a 16 year old kid"? It looked like a grown man "manhandling" a child, which essentially it was. Mason immediately went North-South and controlled him there until he set up the arm bar. Personally I hate that he does that... but it doesn't seem to be against the rules, no one seems to want to penalize the guy for it, so I guess he will continue to get away with that until the shoe is on the other foot. He gets up and celebrates it like he has zero remorse for it, which is a shame, seems pretty sociopathic if you ask me. Not really the type of competitor that I'd be ok with kids looking up to that they can base their game off of, hopefully he doesn't influence any other young competitors to behave in such a way.

Being 16 in grappling against 30 year olds isn't a disadvantage. Your Test levels at 16 are through the roof. You have less responsibilities. What does all of this mean? You can train more, train harder, and recover faster. Your brain is also more adept at soaking up knowledge at 16.

Not cool to hurt the people who also love the sport as much as you do. Enough to give you a body to compete against at competition. I hope he simmers down because it doesn’t make you better at jiu jitsu or bring new people into the sport. I’ve seen several rolls with Gordon Ryan and the second he has the sub that he just holds it. He doesn’t necessarily go for the break and he always gets the tap. It seems ridiculous to break your opponent off out of spite or thinking it looks cool. I hope he grows up.

This is the issue with modern BJJ gyms. Guys like this kid would've gotten kicked out at the white belt level for these type of actions. Now they train these dudes up and they become very dangerous without the discipline. Leg locks in general are a grey area. I think there has to be a serious conversation about banning them in sport BJJ. Just gives the opponent zero time to tap before you can fuck them up.
