Your horse trusting you enough to ride loose rein on a highway without going super fast or spooking is incredible already, but with another horse next to it showing such obvious fear, too? That is almost superhuman. You are obviously an amazing rider who communicates perfectly with her horse, and Tink obviously knew what her job was. You have truly rescued an amazing horse.

I have worked for decades organizing horse trials, where riders regularly fall off horses while jumping, resulting in a loose horse. Thankfully, the loose horse typically remains on the show grounds. Since many of the competitions are held at locations near busy highways, we nearly always have someone posted at the entry gate with a radio in order to close the gate quickly, just to avoid this sort of nightmare scenario. I'm happy to report that there are lots of competitors who are great riders like Caroline, riding exemplary horses like Tinks. For every former racehorse that is spooky and difficult to control, there is another competitor riding an old "school horse" who has seen it all and is not ruffled by anything. Typically, the loose horse runs a lap of the show ground, then walks up to a human walking along, who simply grabs the reins, ending the drama. It's much easier, of course, when the horse is fitted with a bridle and reins. It would be much more challenging to catch a horse in the scenario in the video, a horse that has no bridle and no halter. I suspect the loose horse in the video had been tied to a trailer, spooked and pulled back, breaking its halter and leaving everything behind.

As much as we are focusing on the horse here, we must not forget the reason why the horse is calm “is because of the girl”. The way the horse is treated and therefore trusts has a lot to do with the way the horse behaved in a harrowing situation like this. The girl maintained calmness and the horse followed through trust that it was safe.

why it's just show the bond between the horse & the rider. I also got the feeling that the horse with the rider might have realized the danger or anxiety the brown horse was feeling & what the rider was wanting to do. The horses seem to at times signal each other like communicating without saying a word & at one point the Rider was focused on trying to get cars to stop on the opposite of the street from the meadin where the horse briefly stop before spooking again.

That was amazing to see in how girl & horse were able to work together to protect this horse. An amazing horse Tink is for carrying a rider while keeping up with a scared horse while running on cement. I hope there's no problems from from running on cement for either horse. That was some amazing teamwork & communication there. Thanks to the one driver staying behind them quietly until the cops got there too. You were definitely an integral part in helping keep them all safe too.

Great work by the girl and absolutely stunning work by the horse. Her horse ignored all the things that were frightening the other horse, remained calm, kept up with a horse that was running so much it got tired and her horse never faltered even when a car tried to pass, police etc. That horse is amazing. I've been organizing horse trials for decades, and this is our nightmare scenario. We always operate on show grounds that are fully fenced to avoid a loose horse on the highway. We keep a gate guard with a radio next to the entry, in order to shut the entry gate quickly when a horse gets loose. I'll bet the organizers at this venue are embarrassed by the scenario in the video. Let's hope they fix the problem and it doesn't ever happen again!

Growing up on the race track we had loose horses all the time running through the barn area which can be extremely dangerous for those walking horses and riders coming back from the track on a horse. My mom is one of the best horse I’ve ever seen in my life. she was a jockey for over 30 years and is now a trainer. She would definitely praise this young girls effort.

I help organize horse trials (jumping competitions) where we frequently deal with loose horses when a rider falls off while jumping. When a horse is loose, you instantly hear cries of "loose horse!" all over the show grounds. I usually serve as the announcer, and I immediately put out the call over the loudspeakers, so that everyone is alert - both to protect people and to help catch the loose horse. Thankfully, the loose horse typically runs a lap around the show grounds, then tires, slows to a walk, and walks right up to a human, who reaches out and takes the reins. In twenty years, I've never seen a horse get loose onto a road. That's our nightmare scenario, a loose horse on a road with no bridle or halter to help someone catch them. We go to great lengths to avoid that scenario! Typically, the only place a horse could get off the show grounds is at the entry gate, and we keep someone there all the time, with a radio, to make sure the gate is closed while a horse is loose. Thankfully, despite being able to jump over a fence easily, horses very rarely jump the perimeter fences to get off the grounds.

As an equestrian, she and her horse have an amazing bond. And she is a real one for putting that horse first so it doesnt get hurt and all other things that could happen, rather than a horse show she paid money for. She is an amazing person for what she did.

I help organize competitions where horses frequently get loose while jumping. When a horse is loose on the show grounds, the entire competition is paused until the loose horse is caught. Thankfully, in twenty years, we've never had a loose horse leave the show grounds, and we make sure the entry gate gets closed right away when a horse gets loose. I'm usually the announcer, and I make sure everybody knows there is a loose horse. We always have a gatekeeper at the entrance with a radio, to prevent this nightmare scenario! When a horse gets loose, the cry goes out right away, and loudly, to put everyone on alert. A loose horse is a real danger, to itself and to everyone at the show.
