I’ve had a very love/hate relarelationship with 1620. Had the button down work shirt come without the pencil slot stitched in to it. Also had a pair of single knee utility pants show up with the stitching on the reinforced part on the pocket stitched down to the pant so you could even use it or slide a pocket knife in. Then had a pair of foundation pants show up and the stitching came apart in the crotch before I even wore them out of the house. 1620 did correct all the issues and customer service has been great. Now the same foundation pant is developing a hole in the back pocket with under two months of wear. For workwear I do not see the justification for the price at all. Have wore Carhartt for many years and they last just as long and I have not experienced so many issues. It is a shame because I really liked the clothing and gave them more than a fair chance. The hoodie is a bit long and the fit is a bit snug but I understand why they’ve done that. Once you get used to it it’s actually nice. The pants could stand to be a bit higher rise for me

@@GentlemansJourney Since then 1620 has responded about the hole in the back pocket and have offered several remedies, awesome customer service. I’m just very hesitant of the brand and its claims of longevity. I’m just one case tho

Bought 3 slim fit pants, I love it because it feels like a regular jeans fit. So many pockets that it is low profile. My only complaint is that they do attract animal pet hair 😂 and there is few strings that haven't been nipped, which you are paying a premium price for something being immaculate.

Maybe get the single layer, not double knee. That said depending on what you’re doing you might need the extra layer. They are certainly warm though.

Great review! Have you tried out the Wrangler Riggs Ranger pants? I have a pair for yard work and wood working, since I don’t work in the trades. They seem very tough and well made, but they seem very stiff. It is hard to crouch down in them or go down to a knee in knee pads working on a diy laminate floor. Do you have that same problem with the other super tough marketed work pants?

@@GentlemansJourney I’m better from what I’ve seen online that the TrueWork, Duluth, and 1620 are probably nicer and better. The Wrangler Riggs are sub $50 with rip stop canvas and double reinforced knees though. It would probably rival the Carhart and Dickies equivalents and maybe have more value per dollar. Honestly if your looking for comfort especially while crouching down I also enjoyed the Carhartt they make loose fit or relaxed fit. I’m getting my 1620 pants in today so I’ll test those out I’ve always liked carhart but they don’t last long anymore since moving manufacturing out of the country

I really want these pants to work because I like the brand and design, but functionally the fit is just off for me. I’ve got a thick butt and thighs, strong legs and the pants are just way too tight in the crotch, barely any room for my junk, with not enough rise in the back. When I squat down the pants bind on my thighs and cause gapping at the back. The thighs are so tight I can barely put anything in the pockets. The fabric is very heavy which is great, but I’d probably sweat like a pig in them. I’ve tried 3 different models in my regular size and going up a size and they just don’t fit me well. The quality seems great, very heavy fabric and stitching and the branding is subdued and the designs thoughtful and made in the USA so congrats if these fit you well!

Yeah these guys are so tough, I really haven't seen anything like them. I gotta say a lot of what you are talking about is why I am hesitant doing pant review because there is actually so much in depth stuff to cover and fit is very different for each guy. I think I like the mid to low rise where maybe you need the high rise?? Those things are going to vary so much. That said, I wish pant makers would offer the same pant with various "rises" and such so they were a more custom fit. I wish I still had my cleanup and hauling business so I could really put these through their pages sooner and faster. I'll be updated on these later but I have yet to get them to soften up at all. My issue with 1620, Origin and numerous other companies can be assumed up in one word. Spandex. I'm a clothing reseller and clothes with spandex typically last 2-3 years. I wear duck carhartt, cotton lc king, and even levis that's 30+ years old. It looks like a train wreck but still fits properly. Just say no to stretchy pants.
