I did a job boat conversion last year. Was working on a small budget,so I found everything used on marketplace. Used 28 HP Johnson,1970s monark 15.5 x48"at bottom (60across top). One of my brothers does highway construction. When they do a stretch they replace the signs, which are all high grade aluminum. Casting deck, floors, all free material. Some outdoor carpet from home Depot. It's set up exactly like this one, except I have 2 casting chairs ,one in back one in front. I do live in southern Michigan,so I am lucky with the abundance of used boating items that can be found. Shout out to "Hildabrandts" marine,and snowmobile salvage. Great place to get ahold of things at a good price. All in I spent about $1400. (Only $400 boat and trailer, $600 outboard)

Excellent use of road signs, I tried that approach and contacted a few local city employees but I never got a response, I would have loved to do the same. There's a lot to be said for doing this super budget, I really enjoy it.

I have a bass tracker pro160 with a 40hp. I really love my boat. That being said man I would love to have your boat also. That thing is perfect for bass fishing or anything really.

I love your boat build. I am coming to the end of doing my 14ft fiberglass boat and so far it is coming out great. I do wonder why did you by a long shaft Yamaha when you had a short shaft transom. You could avoided needing a jack plate. Maybe I am missing something. I do agree with on the trolling motor. I have no need for a foot pedal now.

Nope you're not missing anything and yes a short shaft was the appropriate size for the boat. It was purchased due to availability of short shafts at the time. If I were to do it again I would have just waited for the short shaft, even if I got the long shaft working in the end. Lol

You really did a fantastic job with that boat do you ever have any trouble with that trolling motor when it's in spot lock sometimes it will sit there and wind itself up with the cord until it kicks off spot lock.

I never had it do that while using spot lock, I did it manually a couple times with turning but it was good with not over-wrapping the cord on spot lock.

Very well done. I noticed the battery switch if its one of no name brandsbe careful i had one weld the contacts and melt plastic pushing more than 50a in it starting a motor. I really like how it cam out cant buy one for 6k

A live well would have been awesome! I considered adding on to the rear bench seat but decided to keep the back deck flat and comfortable. There was definitely room for it! I personally don't use them much, so it wasn't high on my priority list. Now... an integrated bait bucket would have been pretty amazing, hmmm...

Great build. Excellent attention to detail. I have an Alumacraft MV 1648 and wondering about removing the bench seat and how this will affect the integrity of the hull. Did you remove a center bench seat? If so, how did you reinforce the hull?

This boat came with the center bench seat removed already. If there is bracing on each side of the seat it should be fine, if the seat bench is the bracing I might reconsider.

Nice work! Can I ask.. where the heck do you find the aluminum framing? I have the same boat with a 40hp Mercury, but dedicated to waterfowl hunting. Bought it during COVID and it just amazes me how little you get for 24 grand! Would love to biuld on the worthless bait tank and put in a beam to beam bench.
