I retire in three years, your videos are helping me as I will get land and work it..................it’s also helping me keep my sanity as there is light at the end of the tunnel.............as a paramedic for 24 years I’ve seen a few bad things with people working on their own stuff...............please stay safe and continue this as I need it more than you apparently............thanks

Congratulations on your upcoming retirement! That's exactly what KZbin is for, to live vicariously through someone else and to learn until you can go after what you want. Glad my videos are helping inspire your dreams. Take care!

I have around 4 acres of grass to mow and i can barely keep up, i can't even imagine how you keep up. Great video Andrew

Thanks, it's a full time job just about in the Florida heat and rain. I mow around 60 acres a month when we get constant rain in the summer. Luckily I love tractor seat time and find mowing relaxing.

Hello Big D, Greetings from France. Did you choose a zero turn or compact tractor with a finish mower. I have a property being renovated and need to make the right choice to maintain just over 4 acres of grass. Best wishes to you. Mark Cousins.

@@harryflashman6828 Bonjour Harry, I own 16 acres of pasture and started with a commercial zero-turn mower. It definitely gets the job done, however you will have to weigh the pros and cons of the expense. If you do not already own a tractor, and you think that it will be a useful investment for you - I would advise that you purchase one first since you will not only be able to mow grass with it, but also do many other chores on your property. In retrospect, I wish I had purchased a finish mower for my tractor first and then a zero-turn later - however finding the right tractor took about a year for me.

Those blades look easy to change. You can tell you take care of your equipment. Something to consider, when you are working under any load, you need to have jacks of some sort (stand jacks, wooden blocks, etc.). Even though it would make a really good KZbin video watching you get squished and get a ton of likes, we would then miss out on all the other enjoyable videos that you create.
@TKCL4 жыл бұрын
Notice at the beginning I showed me wedging a 2x4 under the mower to support it, just in case the 3pt lowered for some reason. Those blades are very easy to change, as long as you have a impact. About impossible to get the nuts off with a standard wrench. Take care
@BradMyers4 жыл бұрын
@@TKCL No, I missed, just rewatched it and seen it. I was just amazed how easy the blades came off. Mine never come off that easy.
@TKCL4 жыл бұрын
Impact wrench is the only way they come off that easy, tried using a breaker bar a while back and gave up, it doesn't work well any other way.

Q: before you made the purchase of this finish mower.. did you look the one that was a side discharge instead of the rear discharge. What your opinion what are some of the pluses and minuses between them both?
@TKCL3 жыл бұрын
No I didn't, I bought this one used locally. It was a deal I couldn't pass up, it had been used twice.
@bigsway44142 жыл бұрын
I have a 72 inch side discharge and I promise you that the rear discharge is better especially as they get wider….
@twaynereignmaker9497 Жыл бұрын
Why not just finish mow perimeter and a path for atv, etc? That way you can brush hog it once/twice a year. Save a lot of time.
@TKCL Жыл бұрын
Because that pasture was cleared, smoothed and planted with $2k worth of pasture grass for future cows. I'm not letting the weeds and brush take over my hard work.
@TacoCrisma2 жыл бұрын
Good stuff - do you have more wet pieces of land on your property? Some of my pastures back up to swamp land and the summer rains make it pretty soft. It’s a catch 22 for me because I’d probably be better off with turf tires as my ag tires definitely rut the softer ground, but if I got stuck it would be hell to get my tractor out of there.
@TKCL2 жыл бұрын
We have wet spots in the woods, but none near the pastures. It's rare I have my tractor near mud.
@patrickmurphy92662 жыл бұрын
I'm familiar with wet heavy ground . Use turf tyres and have chains as a standby. Golden rule is to keep off heavy ground after rains . The damage one can do in wet conditions (ruts) will take months to repair. Also drain difficult spots if possible , or use filling.

Nice place. I'm thinking about buying a kubota m7060 and putting turf tires on it for finish mowing mainly...10 acres. But, I will need it to do a lot of other stuff too (driveways, grapple work, etc.). Have you had any issues with your JD?
@TKCL3 жыл бұрын
The only issue I've had is a recent one, had a temperature sensor go bad on the exhaust system. John Deere covered it no charge.

How loud is the inside of your cab when you’re mowing? Do you wear ear plugs?
@TKCL3 жыл бұрын
I always wear earbuds, love my music. You can definitely ride in the cab without earplugs, but it would probably get annoying if mowing all day.

How long does it take to cut all the grass you have?
@TKCL4 жыл бұрын
About 8 hours, that's 15 acres using my zero turn, tractor and weed eating. I usually split it up, as in I might skip a week on the field and just mow the yard/perimeter. Luckily I love mowing and my pasture will eventually have animals on it, so I'll have a lot less mowing.
