Thank you so much for pointing & explaining each different part of Rear mower. Very well done. Like the grease zert everywhere. The hand nobs for removal of cover. I had an under tractor mower. Boy you're so right about the problems with attachments to tractors, and just access.

Took Delivery of my new B2601 last night, I got the B2601 with the finish mower based on your reply to me on an earlier video where I asked about a belly mower vs finish mower and B2301 vs B2601. I also got the RCR1260 Rotary cutter, snowblower and grapple with the 3rd function, also based on your experience :). I mowed a couple of grown up pasture last night, the finish mower was just delivered so will be tackling my lawn next. I also got the quicktach because neighbour has skid steer attachments that I can borrow and worth the extra for ease of use and availability of attachments.

Michael - Congratulations!! Great news. I am sure it feels like Christmas.LOL. So happy for you. You are set to start doing some gratifying work for sure. If I may offer, they don't tell you this, but the tractor does not have to run full out all the time - I thought I always had to rev it up full throttle to use implements. Not true. When using PTO attachments, you need to rev to the red line to reach the PTO RPM but when using the grapple or bucket etc, you just up the throttle enough that you are not stalling. The hydraulic flow will still lift and operate at low RPMs. What was really nice is that it is so much easier to learn how to use the bucket/grapple etc at lower RPMs because things work slower and also not so loud. Congrats again- have fun and please let me know from time to time how things are going. Not an expert but always happy to answer questions as best I can. Cheers and enjoy the weekend!! Safety first!! :))

Land Pride makes very good finishing mowers. I bought a new 2022 LMC (Lowery Manufacturing) 6’ finishing mower in August of 2022 to go on my Massey Ferguson 231 tractor. I love it! I couldn’t afford a Woods, Bush Hog, or Land Pride but the one I bought will serve me well. It’s quality built. Good video!

Thanks for the feedback Bob. I always welcome it. It's kind of funny - after all this time, I have learned that some folks like lots of music throughout, some like a little in part of the video but like to hear some of the machines only through parts of the video as well, and some prefer to hear the machines only (which is actually my favourite as well). So I try to do some videos to appeal to each over short periods of time. Hope you will hang in there for the machines-only videos. Thanks again for the feedback and always feel free to let me know what you enjoy and what you preferences are. It helps me to edit better. Cheers and enjoy the rest of the week Bob!

That is a nice looking finishing mower you have and Land Pride is a great brand to have too. The grapple you have on the front of your tractor is nice also and very useful for anyone who own property. If it was me, I would have kept that mower as a backup because the mower one your tractor may break down and you would have had the other mower as a backup tool. I have two zero turn mowers and glad to have both because one was down and I got the second one to do my work with until my first one was fixed. I can tell that you are thinking of what you need and I wish you the best as you use your new equipment to keep your place looking nice.

Nicely done, GP. Man, that drive behind is the ticket and I like that float action. I have the belly mower and I hate having to get down under to hook up then struggle to slide the mower under the tractor with ease. Well, to me there is no ease. It's a misnomer (chuckle). Keep em coming my friend.

Morning Houndsman. I was pretty lucky cause I called the dealer to order a belly mower and luckily, the owner had delivered the tractor to me last fall and so knows my property. You are doing a great job here! I just ordered a B2650 and the FDR1660. I hope to take delivery this weekend, I'm super excited. I looked for videos on the mower earlier this week and was very happy to see one posted by you this morning. After seeing how useful the grapple is, I'm sure one will be in my near future. I found your videos a couple weeks ago when I started researching for tractors. I have since watched all your uploads, yep all of them. It was really great to see your content evolve from the helmet cam to the production and edit job you have today. Keep up the excellent work, very entertaining as well as informative.

Good morning Doug! Congrats on the new tractor!! That is pretty exciting for you. I am glad the videos are helping - watched all of them??:))). Thats really nice - thanks!! Funny, every once in a while I re-watch one of the older videos and yes, I guess I have kind of evolved. LOL. Hey if you haven't yet seen it, "daveknowshow" has a lot of great instructional videos and has one on how to setup and use a rear finish mower. It is really helpful as he demonstrates why he sets up the 3 -pt hitch the way he recommends it. Cheers and let me know how it goes this weekend!! The B2650 is a great machine!

The B2650 and FDR1660 showed up Saturday morning as expected. So far I'm loving the tractor and the mower. I set the 3 point up the way that 'daveknowshow' recommended and it worked great. Very happy with the quality of cut, my Dad said it was better than his ZTR. I put 7 hours on the tractor on Saturday and was really surprised by the economy. 7 hours on the ZTR would be close to 10 gallons of gas. I used about 4 gallons of fuel in the tractor. Looking forward to more of your videos. Keep up the good work.

Good morning. I am looking at getting a finish mower for my tractor. The flail mower is great for the sides of the runway, but now my land is mostly level and few rocks, etc. I have worked to get rid of rocks, and has put down a lot of loam, etc. So it is now mostly grass. Still have about 6 acres of land to mow, even now without the runway. Thanks for your videos.

While I love my Kubota bx2660, that came with a 6-foot belly mower, I've also owned a 48 in deck Exmark and a 48 in deck Kubota zero turn mower. I found with the belly mower on the tractor, versus the Exmark, the belly mower would take a wider swath, but the Exmark was so much more agile, I was mowing much faster with the zero turn that I was with the tractor. I did take the front end loader off a few times, that way there's less overhang out front to watch when you're close to fences, trees, buildings, etc etc. But at the end of the day, always found the zero turn, aas more efficient and I actually felt better at the end of the day because of so much less twisting and turning to keep an eye on everything. Please understand I'm not knocking any system, it's all a matter of individual choice, but for me there is nothing any better for mowing with a zero turn. As far as fuel efficiency, you cannot beat the diesel fuel consumption of the 2660 compared to either one of the gasoline zero turn mowers. Bottom line at the end of the day it's all a matter of individual choice. Perhaps someone may find these thoughts helpful in making a decision! :-) but this is a great video, with a lot of good information! :-)

Ah, lucky. We have a Toro for mowing, and it’s not doing so hot right now. I was mowing the other night and the belt broke, and I’ve put less than 50 hours on it in total since last April when we bought it new. Bought a new belt, $50 later, put that on, went to try it and it came off a pulley and got caught underneath and got sliced a good bit.. on the bright side, I think I know how the old one broke. On the dark side, my brand new belt isn’t going to last me very long.. that mower looks very nice. Grease it right, DEFINITELY clean under those covers regularly, and make sure to get any wet grass off the underside of the deck after you finish. It’ll last you a lot longer. Some guys even coat their decks in oil and other non-stick products, though I’m not a big believer in that. Sounds like a bigger mess than it’s worth... anyways, enjoy it. Land Pride makes good stuff. Might wanna consider getting a quick hitch now since you have so many implements, though I don’t know how that would play out with your ballast box or carry-all.. anyways, can’t wait to see more. Hope all is well up there. See you in the next one. Take care.

Good morning Jackson! Thanks for the tips and sorry to hear about your mower. That hurts - only 50 hours on it. I thought about the quick hitch a few times but with clevis brackets on most of the implements, it is pretty simple to hook up so I will probably go without. Have a great week! Cheers!

Congratulations!!! I thought you might lean towards the FDR. I hope you like your's as much as I like mine. Replace the clips that hold the wheels on with 1/4 bolts the clips are easy to come off in tall weeds/grass. The other nice thing about the FDR is you can cut to the waters edge by backing it up then you don't have to use the Weedwhacker to trim. Later

Both types of mowers have pro's and con's. I think you would have been better off with a belly mower. A belly mower will give you a better finished look to your lawn. You should take the loader off when you mow, it will give you much more mobility in tight spots. Enjoy your new toy!
@GPOutdoors
@GPOutdoors 5 жыл бұрын
Good morning SA! I agree they both have pros and cons. I had a belly mower and sold it and replaced it with the Finish. Mainly because the finish mower has a greater ability to follow/float over the contours of the land. Much bigger mowing area and I can get in under trees and into areas I could not get into with the tractor/ belly mower before. And hey thanks for the tip on the loader. Another sub mentioned it too and so you will in the future videos, I have taken it off. Much easier now. Thanks!

Very nice mower GP, curious and maybe I missed it, what size deck is that? On my first tractor, I had a belly mower and although it did a great job on flat, wide open spaces, it was difficult at times trying to mow up close to the house and around objects. I think you'll find the rear mount makes it easier to "cut in" closer to the house and objects, you can't go wrong with Landpride either, have a great weekend!

Good morning Paul. It is a 60". So it gives me a little outside the tires (tractor is 49 " wide). Thanks for the notes above. Nice explanation and demonstration. How do you think using a 3-pt quick hitch would change the way the mower works?
@GPOutdoors
@GPOutdoors 5 жыл бұрын
Good day Brent. That's an interesting question. The mower is quick hitch compatible. Without a quick hitch though, the upper control link and the two lower control arms will move along with the slip brackets on the mower. The upper being independant of the two lower control arms. However, all three brackets on the mower operate or slide independently of each other. So although all three arms on the 3 pt would be stationary together with a quick hitch, the 3 brackets on the mower will still swing or move independently. I think it would limit the independant movement of the upper control link to some degree, so I think it would have some impact on the free movement /oscillation of the mower but not a lot I don't think. Just my thoughts. What do you think?

Hey Gp, I’m seeking advice. Just bought 18 forested acres with roughly 3-4 acres cleared. I’m definitely getting an LX 2610, however I’m stuck between the land pride finish mower attachment and getting a zero turn. The terrain is relatively flat, mole hills, no rocks, couple small wet soggy areas. I just see pros and cons to both, speed, maneuvering, cost, bagging, simplicity etc. thoughts? Advice?

Very informative and well done video. I don't recall you mentioning the size of the finish mower. Is it a 60"? I have a Kubota 60" mid-mount mower on my 2601. I've only used it once, but liked the results. I considered a finish mower, but was a little concerned about turning and possibly hitting something with the swing of the mower behind the tractor.
@GPOutdoors
@GPOutdoors 6 жыл бұрын
Good morning James. Thanks for the comment. Yes, it is a 60" - that way it is a little wider than the width of the tractor. And you are right. I have to keep a keen eye on it when turning as it does swing out, especially around the house.So I have to watch the front end swing as well as the back end. The manual says I should have weight on the loader to offset the weight of the mower. But I will get used to it in time. I think if the property was more flat then I would have bought the mid mount. I cut it again this week and so far so good. Have a great weekend!

The small castor wheels will beat you up if the ground is the least bit rough. But when it’s dry it’s great! I have 720 hrs on it and now 25 acres with its 72” deck.

Morning Darren. For me , I only have grass, so the finish mower was my choice. But if I had areas of thicket and brush etc I would have chosen the flail. The big area out the back you see on the property is where my garage will be one day so at some point I will just have the large grass area to cut. I guess it kind of depends on the type of grounds you have to maintain. Best of luck Darren!

Great video. I’m thinking about getting this setup for my BX2360. One question: do those ag tires tear things up when your mowing? I’m debating on whether I also need to invest in turf tires if I start using the Kubota for mowing. I don’t want to spend the extra money, and I really prefer the ag tires for 90% of my work.
@GPOutdoors
@GPOutdoors 3 жыл бұрын
Good day . I have never used AG tires but I hear they will rip up the turf. I use the R4 ( industrial) tires - I also hear great things about the R14 which are a hybrid between the R4 and the turf tires. The only time my R4's tear up a bit of turf is if I mow when the grass is wet and it only usually happens when I take sharp turns on the grass. Hope that helps. :)

GP, Would you be worried about running this type of set up in a muddy condition or do you think the tires provide enough floatation? Also do you have an idea as to how much the tractor set up as it is in this video weighs? Keep the videos coming, I enjoy them.

Morning Tyler. Great questions. I was worried about that too when I was choosing tires for the tractor. If you look across the lawn that is in front of the windows, you can faintly see tire marks from when I drove across the lawn after the thaw and a lot of rain several weeks ago. But since the ground has dried up I have been driving over it several times a week and I don't leave marks (whew!). It rained for a couple of days right up till yesterday morning before I cut the grass and I was happy to see it still did not leave marks or chew up the ground. So all good there. All in weight is about 3,200 lbs. I estimate. Thanks for the Q's and for watching. Have a great week!

Sorry , I didn't answer your question. I wouldn't drive it on the lawn when really wet so as not to damage the lawn. But I drove it through the muddy clearing in the back yesterday and with a little help from our friend - 4 wheel drive - it climbed through no problem.:))

Thanks for your input, I will be buying a B2601 or B2650 in the future and I was watching if it would leave ruts in the yard or not. I think I’ll just get a separate machine for mowing because I live in/near a floodplain so it is wet often. How is the power of the machine? Does it meet or exceed expectations you had for it?
@GPOutdoors
@GPOutdoors 6 жыл бұрын
It has done everything I have needed it to do on my small property here, with the exception of pulling that big granite boulder out a few videos ago. Otherwise I have no complaints. If you can afford the extra $$ you may want the 2650 as it does have extra pulling and lifting power (and an extra 2 inches of clearance) but that would be based on your land size and characteristics, and the types of things you think you will want to do with a tractor 90% of the time. I hope that helps a bit and I am always happy to offer my opinion in addition to your thought and what your dealer recommends. I am no expert but will give you my honest thoughts if or as you need them. Its a big expense and you don't want to spend too much on too big a tractor for your needs but you also don't want to spend so much money only to find it does not have enough power to do 90% of the tasks you need it to. Thanks for watching and for the comments. I always appreciate them.

I liked the video, one of the reasons for watching was to find out if the quality of the cut after the 4 tractor tires first push the grass down. I have a zero turn for the better part of my yard but would still like to know if the grass stands up in time when the 3 point mower gets to and can still cut it and do a good job?
@GPOutdoors
@GPOutdoors 4 жыл бұрын
Good morning TS! I would love to try out a zero turn mower at some point. Many folks have suggested I get one. The rear mower works great for my needs here so far. Certainly takes a lot longer to mow than with a zero turn I imagine. Re: your question. If the grass is dry then it usually gets back up in time. I very seldom ever have strips of uncut grass behind me. But if I cut it too soon after a rain or in the early morning dew, then I will sometimes get strips behind me here and there. But otherwise, the vacuum created by the three blades spinning pulls the grass back up in time. I don't usually cut any faster than in medium range speed though so it is not a fast mow by any means. Hope that helps a bit- thanks for tuning in!

@GPOutdoors 5 жыл бұрын
Good morning Phil. Thanks very much for the support and I am happy if the videos are helpful or enjoyable. I honestly cannot answer that question but can offer the following. 1) Since I am still under warranty, I always ask my dealer these types of questions before I buy an implement or do anything to the tractor. Whether I buy an implement from him or another company, I still call him and ask what size it can handle. Generally he says the B can handle a 60 inch implement max, for sure, but in some cases I can buy something larger. One example is my rear blade which is a 72 inch but otherwise , every other implement I have is 60 inches. However, the reason I can't answer you for sure is that I believe he said I could put a 72 inch mower on the rear if I wanted to (sorry getting old so my memory is not 100% on this).but I am not 100% sure. So best to ask yours before buying one. 2) Practically , the 60 inch has worked well and fits well on the B. However, if I remove the FEL when mowing (which makes it a lot easier to mow so I don't have to watch out for the front end swinging into the cabin or hitting something), the 60 inch weighs so much that the front end of the tractor gets light when I am carrying the mower up off the ground. So when I am driving with the mower lifted off the ground, the front wheels literally bounce off the ground when I run over a big bump. But when I drop it down to use it, there is no problem pulling it and mowing. Sorry, that was very long winded but hopefully helps you a little. Good luck and all the best Phil!
