It doesn't get any better than this. I am so excited about Amtrak's upgrades. I want Amtrak to be self-sustaining. I think that the new Gateway/Hudson tunnels are the biggest steps in that direction. I just learned that Indonesia has built a train that travels at speeds up to 220 mph. I don't plan to visit Jakarta. It is interesting, but I don't care; for me it's not a race. The USA should take care of and improve on what it already has.

To be self-sustaining, the best thing Amtrak can do is axe the long distance routes. It would about break even or generate a profit that way
