Doctor was a player like no other. As fans and supporters of football, we all adored Doctor, and Mntungwa never disappointed us. I will never forget the 1998 FIFA World Cup qualifier match that Bafana Bafana played against then Zaire (DRC) in Togo in 1997. In that game 'the Doctor' crossed the ball to Phil Masinga after mesmerizing the defender with the 'show-me-number' and Masinga connected with the ball and headed it in to score a winner, after that we regain hope, 'Bafana Bafana will qualify'. We played the last qualifier match against Congo Brazzaville, and Phil Masinga scored the solitary goal. I remember Doctor celebrating and rejoicing the triumph, finally South Africa is going to 'play in the World Cup'.

Watching Doc in his prime brings back fond memories, me and my classmates at Higher primary were obsessed with the two footer dribble (right-left) that Doc executes on this clip. Being left footed I would do it the other way around (left-right). Long story short, that generation of footballers made our teenage years memorable and uMdokisi played a huge role in that and for that Mtungwa Mbulazi ka Mashobane we're forever indebted
