Very nice. The problems you seem to have with your tripod are the reason I don't use one! As for slipping - we all do it if we leave the stations! But it's worth it - and thanks for the Cement Train bonus!

It can get stiff if tightened too much and makes for an awkward shake when you try to turn it but if it's too loose then it never stays still

Yes, they can be a pain - that's why some folk just set them up and leave them alone.
