The majority of the people don't know those songs because he's in Brazil. Not a demeaning comment at all since Brazil is in south America so one shouldn't expect Brazilians to know those songs even though there are many descendants of European here like myself.

To be fair I thought that several of the Carols were quite specific to the UK and Ireland and would probably be unknown to people from the US let alone South America or the Catholic world in general. "The First Nowell" and "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" for example both seem pretty old and pretty English.

16 out of 17... "Jolly Old St. Nicholas" - familiar, but not so well known as all the others. So many great melodies, both traditional and more popular seasonal fravourites, as well. I grew up in Western Canada, where these songs were always a part of every aspect of Christmas that I can remember. They were sung by everyone, everywhere during the Holiday Seasons. And, "Merry Christmas" was said to all, no matter who or where people were. Heck, you could get on a bus (or a sleigh ! ??) and simply say, "Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells" and before you got to the end of the first line, fellow passengers were already joining in !! The spirit and feel of "Peace on Earth, Good Will to Man" was a natural part of the atmosphere. Carols were echoed throughout the city and countryside, alike - it was impossible not feel the love in the air and share the essence of Christmas itself ! :D @%* Merry Christmtas and... THANKS for the "memories"... ;))

Singing 'away in the manger' (different version though), when I was five circa 1954, and my dad had a reel to reel tape recorder. Mom and dad and my brother and me all singing 'silent night', my dad harmonizing the bass line and playing his accordion.

0:32 I remember this TUNE being sung for [O little town of Bethlehem] in Scotland, but the tunes we use in America are: "St. Louis (Redner)" by Lewis Redner (in 1868) & "Christmas Carol (Davies)" by Henry Davies (1905). 2:03 [Away in a Manger] shown here the tune is called "CRADLE SONG (Kirkpatrick)" by William J. Kirkpatrick (1895), however there is a toss up between this tune and the original tune in popularity. I personally lean towards the original, "MUELLER (Murray)" By James Murray (1887)
