Does the aeration rip the hyphae threads apart?
@bmted3 жыл бұрын
I'm sure some of them are pulled apart, however, many others stay together and build active populations within the soil.

Question. Understand plants feeding the Microbes it works with. However, what if we are trying to move succession higher to higher quality grasses than we presently have?
@bmted4 жыл бұрын
Adding a greater diversity of microbial life to your soil will improve the soil food web all along the chain. If you are trying to improve your forage, I assume you are seeding different grasses. The new grasses will cultivate the microbes that are most beneficial to them, as all plants do. The key is to just have lots of beneficial microbes available and the plants will do the rest.

Will there stil be foam since there is no molasses added?
@bmted3 жыл бұрын
There is frequently foam. It is not from the molasses, but from the Bio Release, which is one of the components for the tea.

How would you make this in a small amount for a home garden and are you talking about a regular compost? If anyone can answer this i'd appreciate it. Thanks
@bmted4 жыл бұрын
You can easily build a small brewer in a 5-gallon bucket with an aquarium aerator (you want a lot of air). As for the compost, we create a specially treated humus as our biological source. Not all compost is created equal, and much of what you can find commercially is actually very poor source material. If you know how to make your own compost, you can use that, but I would probably stay away from most commercial sources.
@imalamboman123 жыл бұрын
@@bmted For obtaining fungal material, could I go to a forest and grab a chunk of mycelium growing on wood then add that to the tea?
@simonshotter89603 жыл бұрын
I use mushroom compost, make it damp with molasses water in a small tub. Then take oats, grind them to a dust and sprinkle over the top and place in warm dark place for 3 days. After three days, take what is now a fur and Chuck it in a bucket of rainwater and brew it for 3 days.

How do you put the fungi in the compost tea??? Mycelium or spores or whole fruit body???
@GroProOrg2 жыл бұрын
You either collect it from forest area or can grow it with soil and oats and rock dust with a little heat mat
@bmted2 жыл бұрын
The microbial source for our tea begins with a healthy raw humus. We "feed" the humus to develop the fungal growth within the natural spectrums and then use the pretreated humus as one of the components for our tea.
@fgarrison29102 жыл бұрын
Will the bacteria get along with the fungi? I am attempting this in my pasture trying to recolonize my pasture with a mushroom from a neighboring pasture... he has no fire ants and I believe it’s the mushroom that grows in his pasture.
@GroProOrg2 жыл бұрын
Most bacteria compete with fungi but some coexist
@bmted2 жыл бұрын
Bacteria and fungi both compete and coexist in the soil. A healthy pasture soil should have a ratio of 3 bacteria to 1 fungi.
@donlourie7692 жыл бұрын
some native, undisturbed prairie soils have a fungi to bacteria ration of 9:1. That is what nature has when undisturbed.

What if you do fermented plant juice, just by adding unwanted weeds and plant matter in a barrel to make compost tea.
@garthwunsch3 жыл бұрын
Fermentation is anaerobic, yes, the “anaerobic tea” will kill the intruder... at the same time as it kills all the good guys in your soil and on the plant..
@Juanrivers20223 жыл бұрын
@@garthwunsch so is it bad???
@garthwunsch3 жыл бұрын
@@Juanrivers2022 the short answer is yes, it’s bad for your plants and soil. Better to compost the weeds in a proper thermophilic compost, then you know the seeds are dead and the disease pathogens are also dead. Making GOOD healthy compost is an art and a science. However, you cannot tell if it’s a good compost unless you have the knowledge to assess it using a microscope. Or you can find a Soil Food Web lab tech near you and hire them to make this evaluation... www.soilfoodweb.com/consultants/
@bmted3 жыл бұрын
Garth is correct. Good, healthy compost is an art, based in science. We use a pretreated natural humus as our main organic source, along with natural minerals plus a microbial stimulant to brew the tea and achieve amazing population growth with a push on the fungal side.

how do i grow more fungi in my compost tea instead of bacteria?
@bmted4 жыл бұрын
They key is to use the right source materials for the tea. We create a specially treated humus blend that we use as the main microbial source for the tea. The finished tea will still have thousands of bacteria, but it will also have thousands of fungi.

They are fed a blend of minerals plus a liquid stimulant/food source that we sell called Bio Release. Bio Release extracts the minerals from the mineral source plus it stimulates the growth and proliferation of the microbial populations.

If you have a well-made compost, using that compost to inoculate your next batch is a good idea as it will introduce successful microbial populations that can help to start the proper processes within the new material.

How do you feed fungi protozoa
@bmted4 жыл бұрын
We promote the growth of fungi in our pretreated humus by blending in complex food sources (not simple sugars). One of the components of our tea is organic humates, which contain protozoa, thus introducing them into the tea mix. Protozoa feed on bacteria, of which there are an abundance in the tea. Other ingredients stimulate the growth and replication of the biology as the tea brews.
